中华文明，源远流长；中国故事，可歌可泣。我们所处的新时代，需要我们说好中国故事，传递中国的优秀文化和价值观，不仅让中国人为本国的灿烂文明而骄傲，更要让世界了解中国理解中国。让我们来欣赏一下北外附校初一年级和初二年级的“中国故事”英语演讲比赛参赛者的风采。

潘启源同学讲述了愚公移山的故事，通过叙述愚公不畏艰难，坚持不懈，挖山不止的故事，联系到现代著名人物马云通过自己的努力考上大学，做事永不放弃，最终取得成功的案例。他认为做事要不断努力，要勇于克服困难，永不言弃。

Yu Gong Removes the Mountains

愚公移山

Hard work and never giving up lead to the success. Different people have different ideas about the key to the success. Do you want to be a successful person? That makes me think of a story.

The story mainly told that there was an old man named Yu Gong. There were two mountains in front of his house. It was very inconvenient for his family to come and go out. Yu Gong asked his whole family to help him move the mountains. He believed that if they worked hard together without stopping every day, they would be successful to move away the mountains. Finally, these two mountains were moved away. The story made me know that we should learn the spirit of Yu Gong. We should work hard and never give up.

There are many successful people around us who have the spirit of Yu Gong. Do you know Ma Yun? Ma Yun is successful because he works hard and never gives up at any time. He dreamed of going to college when he was a child. He became interested in English when he was twelve. Although it rained heavily, he didn't give up learning English and he kept on riding his bike to a small hotel to study English. He tried his best to study every subject and overcame all the difficulities. He took the college entrance examination three times, but he didn’t give up. Finally, he was admitted to Hangzhou Normal University. After graduation, he was successful and he set up a company.

In a word, hard work and never giving up are the keys to the success. Nothing is difficult in the world if we put our hearts into it.
