Celebrating Thanksgiving Day

我们一年级的学生正在学习「节日庆典」,其中之一是感恩节。在一个精彩的「学习成果展示大会(COLA)」中,感恩节是在每年11月的最后一个星期四,学生分享了他们对于这一重要节日的探究。

Our Grade 1 students are learning about celebrations. One of them is Thanksgiving. In a wonderful Celebration of Learning Assembly (COLA), our students shared their inquiries on this important event that takes place every last Thursday of November.  

学生们唱歌、跳舞和表演戏剧,礼堂里充满了PYP学生和家长们的欢声笑语。

The assembly was filled with singing, dancing and role-playing, which was very enjoyable for all PYP students and their parents. 


在舞台表演之后,迎接我们的是传统的感恩节大餐,是包含了火鸡,土豆泥和玉米的美味佳肴。


After the stage presentations, a traditional Thanksgiving menu of turkey, mashed potatoes and corn was waiting for was. It was indeed a feast!



Thanksgiving Poems

感恩节离合诗


我们四年级的学生最近在学习英文离合诗。受感恩节的启发,他们创作了一些浪漫的诗歌。这其中每个句子的首字母都惊喜地构成了「Thanksgiving Day」 (感恩节)


Our Grade 4 students are recently working on acrostic poems. Inspired by Thanksgiving Day, they have created some lovely and impressive poems, in which every first letter of the sentence constructed 'Thanksgiving Day'

Teatime Concert

下午茶音乐会

TWIS的「下午茶音乐会」举办于每个月的最后一个星期五的午后,学生和老师们都会到TWIS的音乐厅观赏一场非正式的音乐会 。


Teatime Concert at TWIS is organized on the afternoon of the last Friday of every month with students and teachers will appreciate and enjoy an informal concert at the TWIS performance hall.



「下午茶音乐会」举办的目的旨在鼓励学生积极参与音乐学习,培养或提高他们的音乐鉴赏能力。非正式音乐会给予了学生更多表演机会的同时,也帮助不同音乐水平的学生建立更强的自信心


The purpose of the Teatime Concert is to encourage students to actively engage in music education and develop or improve their musical appreciation abilities. The informal concert helps students of different musical levels build stronger self-confidence to perform in front of an appreciative audience.  



在已经举办的三次音乐会中,参加演出的学生来自不同的年级,钢琴、架子鼓、马林巴琴、竖笛、古琴......演奏的乐器也多种多样。对于年幼的观众而言,「下午茶音乐会」能帮助他们加强音乐的鉴赏能力,增强自我管理和学习如何遵守音乐会的礼仪


In the past three concerts, the students who participated in the performance came from different grades. They play diverse instruments including the piano, the drums, marimba, clarinet, Guqin. For our young audience, the teatime concert helps them strengthen their music appreciation skills, and practice applying concert etiquette.



Field Trip to Science Center

广州科学中心探索之旅

四年级学生正在进行探究性单元的第二部分「世界如何运作」,我们这次把学习的场地搬移到广州科学中心学习如何考察和研究关于创新和发明的一切。我们探索了不同的区域和空间,这些空间强调的是那些改变我们日常生活的事情以及它们对社会的影响,学生对于这一些科学的呈现表现出极大的热情和好奇。


Our grade 4 class trip to Guangzhou Science Center was to investigate and research innovation and inventions as part of our second PYP unit on How the World Works. It had an emphasis on things that have changed our everyday lives and how they impact society. We explored different zones and areas, with the students showing great enthusiasm. 



探索之旅到达尾声时,学生Marline跟全班同学说「这些发明很有趣,而且还有很多东西可以研究」。明朗的笑容呈现在每个人的脸上。学生Amir说:「博物馆里面很大,有很酷的机器人,超级汽车等等!最厉害的机器人是瓦力机器人,它可以用51秒完成魔方。」另外一个同学Owen也说很高兴学习到电以及它的工作原理。


Marline told the class afterward, ‘the inventions were interesting and there were many things to play with.’ Throughout the day and the class smiles were evident. Amir said, ‘Inside the museum was very big. There were cool robots, super cars and more! The coolest robot was the Wall-E robot. It completed a Rubik’s cube in 51 seconds.’ Owen told our class, ‘We could learn about electricity and how it works.’

My Science Day


On November 25th, 2020, we went to the museum by bus. Our class is Grade 4. We went to see so many inventions.


We went to a room with many shows about science. There was a movie about volcanoes. It was very exciting and interesting. The museum was interesting because it had many inventions, stairs and wonderful people of history. In the museum, we could touch many things, read about inventors, try many science objects and play with science.


The museum had different floors and rooms, doors to zones and colours and shapes.

2020年11月25日,我们乘坐巴士去了博物馆。我们班是四年级。我们去看了那么多发明。


我们去了一个有许多科学展览的房间。有一部关于火山的电影,非常令人兴奋和有趣的。这座博物馆很有趣,因为它有许多发明、楼梯和优秀的历史人物。在博物馆里,我们可以接触到许多东西,阅读有关发明家的知识,尝试许多科学物品,玩科学游戏。


博物馆有不同的楼层和房间,不同区域的门,颜色和形状。

孩子的成长、进步离不开家长和学校的共同努力,为了进一步促进家校合作,增进亲子之间的情感,激发家长参与学生成长的兴趣和激情,我们邀请了一年级的家长们一起体验学生多姿多彩的课堂


The growth and progress of a child cannot be separated from the joint efforts of parents and the school. To further promote the parents-school cooperation, strengthen the relationship between children and parents, we have invited parents of Grade 1 to spend an afternoon learning side-by-side with their children.



第一站是小学图书室,我们的图书管理员带家长参观了图书馆,并描述了学生在图书馆期间的日常活动。家长们浏览了图书馆的藏书,并鼓励他们借一些书回家睡觉前阅读。


The first stop is the primary library where our librarians gave parents a tour of the library, as well as a description of students’ routine when they come during their library time. Parents browsed through the library collection and were encouraged to borrow some books that they could bring home for bedtime reading.



不久之后,我们的体育老师等待我们的父母加入我们在足球场上的一年级课程。最初,家长以为他们要来观察我们的PSPE课程,但是他们很快意识到他们也需要参与其中! 于是,家人开始与我们所有的一年级学生进行经典的「建筑工与推土机」游戏。 除此之外,我们继续进行了另外两个冒险挑战活动,特别是针对PYP探究性单元, 爸爸妈妈必须与他们的孩子合作解决「过河」问题和降落伞挑战! 共同协作的欢乐声充斥着整个运动场。


Soon after, our PSPE teacher awaited our parents to join our Grade 1 class on the soccer pitch.  Initially, our families thought they were coming to observe our PSPE class, yet they quickly realized that they too were there to participate! Family members began playing the classic game of Builders vs. Bulldozers against all of our Grade 1 students. We continued with two more adventure challenge activities, particular to this PYP Unit of Inquiry. Dads and Moms had to team up with their children to be successful in both solving how to "Cross the River" and cooperate with the Parachute! The pitch was brimming with laughter, excitement, and collaborative learning!




这一天结束时,家长和学生们共同思考了他们学到了什么,以及关于如何保护传统和庆祝活动。


The day ended with a collaborative reflection between parents and students regarding what they have learned on how we can preserve traditions and celebrations.

史蒂芬·金曾经说过:「只要你为最坏的情况做准备,就不会有坏处。」TWIS一直把每个人的生命安全放在第一位。为了使我们的校区做好紧急疏散的准备,我们在一天中午的时候进行了消防演练


Stephen King once said, "There's no harm in hoping for the best as long as you're preparing for the worst." TWIS has always put the safety of everyone as TOP priority. In order to prepare our community for an emergency evacuation, a fire drill was held in the middle of the day.



当疏散警报响起时,各班授课教师迅速组织学生捂鼻弯腰,走出教室,按照安全疏散路线有序地撤离到安全的集合点。


When the evacuation alarm sounded, the teachers quickly organized the students to cover their noses and bend down to walk out of the classroom and evacuate as quickly as possible to the assembly point.


整个学校能够平静有序地进行疏散。因此,学校也已经做好了应对突发事件的准备。


The entire school was able to evacuate the buildings in a calm, orderly manner. It is reassuring to know that the school community is prepared for emergencies.
