Katie：一个很偶然的机会。在小学一年级的时候，学校要求必须选一项课外活动，当时妈妈帮我选了乒乓球。于是从一年级开始接触，二年级开始参加比赛，首先参加的是香港学界的比赛，之后就拿奖了。虽然我不是出生于乒乓球世家，但是跟体育有些渊源，我们家伯母是中国的一位跳水冠军。因此，我知道努力练习对达到高水平的体育运动很重要。

Katie：It started from a very random opportunity. When I was in first grade, we are required to choose an extra-curricular activity and my mother suggested that I should try table tennis. So that's when I started. And then I began to participate in competitions like HKSSF games in grade 2. And then I won the prize. Although I was not born in a family keen with table tennis, I have an aunt who is a diving champion in China. Therefore, I know that hard work is important to reach a high level in sports.

Katie：因为当时我所在的学校乒乓球运动比较出名，然后香港电台就来采访我们的组员，当时我的乒乓球成绩比较好，就和香港电台接触了，后来把关于我的报道发表在杂志中。

Katie：Because my previous school was famous for table tennis, then RTHK came to interview our team. Since my table tennis performance was relatively excellent, RTHK wanted to find out more about my insights of playing table tennis and then publish it in a magazine.

Katie：在香港的时候，乒乓球场地很小，我们训练场或者做体育锻炼的地方或许都没有TWIS餐厅前的空地那么大，资源和设施都非常有限。乒乓球在英国就更为艰难了，文化不同，几乎没有这样的乒乓球资源。TWIS在这方面就很友好，我可以有报名我们的乒乓球课外活动，有老师陪我练，还不用另外付费，在香港是要另外付费的。

Katie：When I was in Hong Kong, the place was very small, and our training venue or the place for physical exercise was not as big as the public space in front of the TWIS restaurant, and the resources and facilities were very limited. With different cultures, playing table tennis is even more difficult in the UK. TWIS is much more friendly in this respect. I can sign up for our table tennis extracurricular activities and have a teacher to accompany me to practice. There is no extra charge. In Hong Kong, there is an extra charge.

Katie：我也不知道，我还在为未来奋斗。但是对于当下的我来说，我喜欢乒乓球，我会在这个领域深耕技术。

Katie：I don't know, I'm still struggling with the future. But for me now, I enjoy table tennis so I will continue to develop my skills.

Katie：刚学打乒乓球的时候，教练的指导我没有放在心上。后来五年级的一场比赛改变了我的想法，我打了一个所有人都打不出的成绩，连续3场都打了11比0，这3场比赛让我成了乒乓球界的一个笑话。

比赛过后，我开始反思失败的原因，最主要的原因就是我没有听教练的指导。之后，我开始认真听教练的话，并勤恳练习，才在后来的比赛中赢回来。这次的经历让我明白了，「反思」在我们的学习和生活中的重要性。无论是失败还是成功，都值得我们去反思，从成功中反思方法，从失败中总结教训。我想这就是IB学习者目标里的“反思”带我的重新思考吧。

Katie：When I first learned to play table tennis, I didn't pay attention to the coach's guidance. But a game in the fifth grade changed my mind. I have played 11-0 in 3 consecutive games. These 3 games have made me a joke in the table tennis industry. 

After the game, I began to reflect on the reasons for the failure. The main reason was that I did not listen to the coach's guidance. After that, I started to listen carefully to what the coach said and started practicing diligently. Then in the second game, I corrected all the problems that occurred in the first game, and played a good result and successfully won the game. 

This experience made me understand the importance of reflection in our study and life. Whether it is failure or success, it is worthy of reflection, reflecting on methods from success, and summing up lessons from failure. I think this is what the "reflection" in the IB learner profile leads me to rethink.
