学生主导会议:掌握学习自主权

SLC: When Students are in the Driver’s Seat

TWIS一直视家校沟通为教育至关重要的一部分。4月1日和2日,TWIS举办了学生主导会议(SLC),替代了传统的家长会,全程由学生负责。

TWIS considers the relationship between students’ families and the school to be of paramount importance. April 1st and 2nd happened to be our school's Student-led Conference (SLC), which replaced the traditional parent-teacher conference because this time, our students were in charge! 

为了此次会议,学生了准备了数周时间,他们翻阅和整理了曾经的课堂任务、家庭作业、形成性和总结性评估,并反思这段学习经历。对于大多数父母和老师来说,这是他们最期待的活动之一。因为学生们可以自信从容地讲述自己的成就,并对他们在学校的表现作出坦诚的评价。

It took a few weeks of preparation for students as they had to go through their collection of class tasks, homework, formative and summative assessments then reflect on these learning experiences. Their preparation truly paid off! It was an emotional moment for most parents and teachers as students spoke confidently of their achievements and shared an honest appraisal of their performance at school.  

会议期间,学生们通过展示他们的学习成果、挑战和学习目标来阐释他们的进步之处。PYP小学项目的学生带领他们的父母展示了优秀的作品集,班主任和学科教师都积极参与其中。

During the conference, the students explained their progress by talking about their successes, challenges and learning targets. For the PYP, students shared their progress by leading their families through a portfolio of best working samples or showing specific tasks with the homeroom and single-subject teachers. 

MYP中学的每一位学生通过整理自己的作业,制作了精美的幻灯片来展示他们的成就。他们引用了日常作业,展示着他们在学习方面的进步、挑战以及达到的一些设定的学习目标。除此之外,他们还完成了每堂课成绩的自我评估,并与家人们一起分享。

While our MYP students shared their academic successes and challenges through a slideshow presentation. Students justified their progress by referencing specific assignments that showed their learning growth or attainment of some set learning targets. They also completed self-evaluations of their performance in each class and shared them with their families.

在学生梳理自身优势和需要改进的地方时,他们学会了为自己的学习负责,并掌握其中的学习自主权。会议的整体基调与氛围是非常积极的,重点是可以采取什么措施来确保将来取得更大的进步。TWIS旨在通过SLC,增强学生在公众面前自我表达的自信心,并鼓励他们对自己的学习承担责任。对于家长来说,这也是一个观察学生、学校的很棒的体验!

Students are held accountable for their progress when they explain areas of strengths and those in need of improvement. The tone of the conference was very positive with a focus on what can be done to ensure further success in the future.  Through SLCs we boost our students' confidence and encourage them to take responsibility and ownership for their learning. It has been a great SLC experience for TWIS families!

TWIS师生友谊赛

Student - Teacher Friendly Match

周五下午,TWIS体育部组织的第一届TWIS师生友谊比赛顺利进行,两个小时的比赛分为了足球比赛和排球比赛。两场比赛都在紧张和激烈的氛围中进行,难分胜负。

On Friday afternoon, the first TWIS teacher-student friendly match, organized by the TWIS PE department, was successfully held. With two hours of competition divided into football and volleyball matches. Both events were in an intense and exciting atmosphere.

绿茵场上空传来呐喊声和助威声,比赛一开始,教师队伍和学生队伍迅速进入状态,运动员精神让双方实力相当。

There were shouts and cheers over the green field as players from both teams took their positions. We heard the whistle ... the crowd went wild. The spirit of sportsmanship made the two sides evenly matched.

足球比赛一结束,激烈的比赛战场转至了室内体育馆,精彩的排球比赛开始了!在CASE课外课程接受过专业排球训练的学生们在球场上超常发挥,给所有人都带来了惊喜。


这次比赛结果不重要,重要的是比赛让学生和老师的关系更进一步,而比赛中双方团队合作、勇于拼搏的运动员精神也让我们动容。

As soon as the football game was over, another exciting competition was to take place in the indoor stadium. Students who had been learning volleyball during extra-curricular activities for the entire year bravely faced the staff team and delivered an outstanding performance!


These two events emphasized the importance of teamwork, collaboration and sportsmanship. It was such a fun way to end the week and we look forward to the next friendly match.

TWIS学生高分通过HSK考试

TWIS Students Pass HSK with Flying Colors 

祝贺六年级的Nathan、八年级的Arnold和Logan在HSK(汉语水平考试)的写作项目中成功完成测试评估,并取得有突出的成绩。


HSK的写作考试是一项国际考试,旨在评估非汉语母语人士的语言能力以及读写信息的综合能力。写作测试包括六个不同的测试水平。这三位学生分别通过了1级、2级和3级,表明他们正在进一步从基本的语言交流走向广泛的话题交流。


TWIS很高兴宣布这个值得庆祝的好消息。让我们期待他们继续努力,继续自信地学习汉语,向IB学习者属性的“善于沟通的人”的目标前进。

We extend our congratulations to G6 Nathan, and G8 Arnold and Logan’s successful completion of the HSK (Writing) tests (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) with outstanding achievements.  

 

The HSK (Writing) test is internationally standardized to assess non-native Chinese speakers’ language proficiency and the comprehensive ability for written and spoken information. The (Writing) test consists of six levels with different test objectives. The three boys had respectively undertaken and passed Levels 1, 2, and 3, indicating that they are approaching further toward communications of wide ranges of topics from the basic exchange of information.   

 

We are proud to announce this great news that is worth celebrating. Our students are definitely developing the IB learner profile of being good communicators.

地球一小时

Earth Hour

全球变暖与气候变化现象是真实存在的,我们的地球正处于危机之中。每一年的3月份,全球都会有一个倒数计时活动,以庆祝“地球一小时”并采取一项标志性的行动——熄灯一小时。关一盏灯,点亮希望,这是人类集体为大自然作出团结、希望和力量聚集的行为象征。

Climate change is real and our planet is in crisis. Every year there is a countdown across the globe to celebrate the Earth Hour and take one iconic action: switching off the lights. But it is so much more than that! It is a symbol of unity, hope and power in collective action for nature. 

虽然我们没有切断电源,但大家都有意识地在周五第一节课教室里不使用任何电源。我们也被鼓励一整天不用电地使用教室。有了这样努力,学生也会意识到人类与大自然的联系,从点滴小事做起共同保护地球环境。

Although we did not cut the power off, we ALL made a conscious effort not to use any electricity in our classrooms and offices during the 1st hour of school on Friday. Some classes went as far as not using electricity during the entire day. Through this effort, students learned about the relationship between man and nature, and how to protect the natural environment starting from taking small steps.

学术诚信周

Academic Integrity Week

TWIS的第一个学术诚信周以MYP诚信大会拉开帷幕。MYP的学生学习诚信、知识产权和学习原则。同时,也给学生们介绍了TWIS的学术诚信政策


Mr. Ben和Ms. Robin带领学生们体验了诚信考试的场景,让学生们探索自己的立场,在学校里什么才是“有原则的人”(Principled)。最后,学生们接受了挑战,在一周的时间里展示他们的IB学习者属性,证明他们可以让自己和同龄人在一年中保持如此高的标准。


在整个一周的图书馆课程中,TWIS的学生也在使用学校的官方文献引用系统和世界上最常用的系统——现代语言协会的引用系统(MLA),以引用和参考来源的形式关注学术完整性。学生将继续在整个学年的剩余时间内使用此MLA系统,他们的老师也将知道他们应用MLA的方法来维护学术诚信。

TWIS’ first-ever Academic Integrity week kicked off with an MYP Integrity assembly. MYP students engaged with the concepts of integrity, intellectual property, principled practices in school, and were introduced to TWIS’s Academic Integrity Policy.  

 

Mr. Ben and Miss Robin led students through integrity scenarios, allowing students to explore their own stances on what being ‘principled’ in school should look like. Finally, students accepted the challenge to show this Learner Profile Attribute throughout the week, proving that they could hold themselves and peers to such a high standard all year!  


Throughout the week during Library lessons, students across TWIS also zoomed in on Academic integrity in the form of Citation and referencing sources using the school’s official citation system, and the most used system in the world, the Modern Language Association’s citation system. Students will continue their investment in the MLA citation system throughout the rest of the academic year and will be guided by their teachers to apply the MLA methods and approaches to maintaining academic integrity.
