TWIS是一个十分特别的学习空间,仅在第二个学年,我们就可以见证孩子是如何在一个机遇与挑战并存的学习环境里茁壮成长的。

 

在竭力满足每一位孩子成长需求的同时,TWIS始终相信,孩子们也在努力成为独立的终身学习者,朝着成为未来领导者的方向前进。

 

通过提供公认的优质IB国际文凭教育、高素质的教师团队,以及支撑每个人成长的完善教学设施,我们有幸看到每一位学生在学术领域和社会生活中取得巨大进步。例如,四月份的一场SLC学生主导会议就是学生在跨学科和充满互动性的真实环境中取得成就的有力例证之一。

 

在新学年里,我们期待着更多的学生、家庭、教职工的加入,也期待着新的游乐场、扩建的农场和更为优质的体育设施的建成。更重要的是,我们会延续TWIS的使命——让学生置身于良好的环境,在学术和个人方面取得卓越成就,为迎接未来做好充足的准备。

TWIS is not only a very special place, it is a place to learn. Only in its second year, we see how our children are truly thriving in a challenging but nurturing environment. As we strive to meet the needs of each and every child in our care, we are confident that they are on their way of becoming independent, lifelong learners who will grow into leaders of tomorrow.

 
By providing the recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) quality education, along with the drive and expertise of our academic team, and the facilities to support the work of our teachers, we have witnessed an amazing transformation in our student's social and academic life. The student-led conferences in April and their semester reflections are just some testaments of how our children flourish in an interdisciplinary, authentic and interactive learning environment.

Next year, we look forward to welcoming new families, new staff, a playground, an expanded farm, more quality sports facilities, among others. Above all, we look forward to continuing our mission to prepare the children to excel academically and personally as they navigate the world.


However, before we usher in a new academic year, let us look back to the successes and challenges of this year as we highlight some areas of our school life.

PYP 小学学部


——TWIS PYP协调员


对PYP小学项目来说,这是非常激动人心的一年。我们的学生完成了六大主题的探究性单元学习,并将其连接到自身的现实生活,共同付诸实践。他们通过活动、学习大会、视频制作、海报展示和文章写作的方式向全校分享他们的学习成果。同时,不计其数的研学之旅、学校活动和大型庆典,都让我们的学生得以在充满爱意的学习氛围中成长,并拓展着国际思维


良好的学习氛围不仅体现在学生身上,也体现在教师身上。教师们不断地学习与更新IB PYP的教学知识库,以进一步丰富教学方法。同时,TWIS在为教师准备的工作坊中,带来了关于Jolly Phonics领域的专家,给教师们分享着宝贵的教学方法与经验,这些知识也传递给了学校社区,与感兴趣的家长共同分享。因此,在TWIS,学习不仅仅存在于学生和教室之间,还会存在于老师、家长和整个学校之间。

PYP Department


——TWIS PYP Coordinator


It has been a very exciting year for PYP. Students have gone through six units of inquiry where they explored different themes and connected to real-life situations. This also resulted to some fantastic actions where they shared their learnings to the school community through campaigns, assemblies, videos, posters, and write-ups. Our PYP students stepped up and grew in their love for learning and the environment, with numerous field trips, school events, and celebrations extend their learning and developed international-minded individuals.


This learning is not only happening with the students but also with the teachers as they continuously learn about the IB PYP programme to enhance their knowledge and teaching skills. We had workshops from Jolly Phonics and from teachers sharing their knowledge and experience. This knowledge was also shared with the school community through information sessions with parents of our school and parents who are interested to join our school. At TWIS, learning is not only happening in the classroom and for students but also for our teachers, parents, and community.


MYP 中学学部

对于MYP中学项目来说,这是取得持续进展与突破的一年,即使偶尔有遇到挑战的时刻。去年10月,所有教师都接受了MYP中学项目的一级培训,其他学科教师还接受了特定课程的培训,以更新与提高所教科目的方法。

 

短短一个学年,TWIS成功举办了不可胜数的学习活动和节日庆祝活动,令人惊喜的是,学生们拥有了成为“敢于尝试的人”(Risk-takers)的勇气,在学校社区中担任着主持人、组织者等角色。

 

学生们关心社会,通过个人与社会等学科开展社会服务活动。比如九年级的学生在了解现代奴隶制后,筹集善款,并将其捐赠给东莞红十字会。我们也将TWIS生物园列入社区项目的一部分,把IB学习者属性和ALT学习方法结合在一起。

 

在学术领域,我们还推出了学术诚信的规则,教导着学生应该如何准备个人项目、研究方法,为DP做好充足的准备。MYP在开创很多“第一次”的这一年,让我们更为期待新一学年的到来!

MYP Department


——TWIS MYP Coordinator


This year has been challenging but consistent progress in the MYP Programme. Last October, all of the teachers had a Category 1 training about the MYP Programme, and others were also given specific subject training to enhance their skills with the subject that they teach.


There were many learning activities and celebrations that happened that were connected to the units they learned in school. The students were risk-takers and became facilitators for learning while sharing it in front of the whole community.


Connecting with our society, our students were able to start community service through different subjects such as Individuals and Societies. They raised money after learning about Modern Slavery and donated the proceeds to Red Cross. We have also introduced community projects through the TWIS farm to learn more about the IB learner profile as well as ATL skills.


We have also rolled out Academic Integrity to our students to prepare them for personal projects, teach research skills for ATL, and for the DP. We have done a lot of firsts this year and expect better ideas next.

第一是撰写必要的文件,如DP学生手册、DP学科选择,以协助我们完成大规模的DP在线申请;第二是为我们学校的所有相关人员举办信息分享会,包括九年级的家长、学生和教师,以及来自TWIS其他部门的工作人员。


同时,我们规划了从2022年开始的DP第一年的教师阵容,并为提前为他们提供DP学科专业发展的培训,以便他们开始规划DP教学大纲。

DP Department


——TWIS DP Coordinator


This year has been a milestone and a year of growth on our authorisation journey. After a successful candidacy visit, we have been working simultaneously on different fronts.


The first one was and still is writing the necessary documents such as the DP student booklet, the DP subject selection and entry as well as completing our massive online DP application. The second front was about holding information sessions for all of the stakeholders of our school community. It started in a session with the parents and students of grade 9 then the faculty and finally the TWIS staff from other departments. The final front was about designing the teacher lineup for our first year of DP starting in 2022. This included selecting the teachers and providing them with a DP professional development training in their subject so they could start writing the DP curriculum.

这一学年,TWIS英语浸入式项目(EIP)部门感到非常自豪,因为看到参与该项目的学生在本学年巨大的语言进步。最为直观的是,EIP阶段1和阶段2的人数越来越少,而阶段3和EIP毕业生的名单不断增加。

 

首先,不可置否的是,TWIS教学部在发展教师语言教学技能方面提供了足够的支持。在内部专业发展计划中,TWIS为整个学术团队开发了CALLA(认知学术英语方法);该方法概述了教师可如何预测和规划在他们的学科中语言和内容的难度。不仅促进学生弥合这些差距,而且如何扩大新的语言技能在学科领域的使用率。再者,TWIS拥有TEMC(英语主流教学)认证的教师团队;目前,TWIS已有10位专业教师,致力于为英语为非母语的学生提供专业教学服务。

 

然而,付出努力的学生才是最值得称赞的人,根据学术专业素养在线评估和INSIDE阅读分级测试结果,一些学生在这一学年里已经提升了超过两个年级的阅读能力。MYP的老师们都看到了学生们的巨大变化,特别是在口语方面的信心和写作质量方面的变化。在PTC期间,欢迎向任何一位老师索取关于学生语言能力展示的EIP作品(即使是非EIP学生),我们为他们感到无比骄傲!

EIP Department


——TWIS EIP Coordinator


The TWIS English Immersion Program team is tremendously proud as we celebrate the great growth and language development we’ve seen in the participating students this academic year. and we’d like to give you a closer look at all the factors that have contributed to our Stages 1 and 2 getting smaller and smaller and our stage 3 and EIP graduates lists growing!


First, we must acknowledge the great lengths to which the TWIS teaching community has also gone specifically in developing their own pedagogical prowess in teaching language skills. TWIS has provided its own internal professional development programs developing the CALLA (Cognitive Academic English Approach) made available to the entire academic team; this approach outlines for teachers how to predict and plan for those language and content difficulties found within their subjects, and to facilitate not only students bridging those gaps but how to then extend the use of the new language skills across subject areas. Then there is TWIS’ first graduating cohort of the TEMC (Teaching English in the mainstream classroom) certification course; there are now 10 TWIS teachers certified as specialists in teaching their subjects to non-native English learners!


But enough about teachers; it’s your students who have really invested themselves! Some of your students have developed, in the span of this academic year, more than 2 grade levels worth of reading progress according to the Scholastic Literacy Pro Online Assessment and INSIDE Reading Placement test results. Teachers across the MYP have witnessed and been impressed by the great changes we’ve seen in the student body, especially in terms of confidence in oral speaking, as well as the quality of written work! Ask any of our teachers during the PTC for your student’s EIP evidence file on their demonstrations of language abilities (even non-EIP students!) We couldn’t be prouder of them!



精神关怀学部


——TWIS 心理咨询师


精神关怀部门致力于提升学生的幸福感与心理健康。PYP的学生们在反欺凌、关爱他人和自我保护方面表现优异,鼓励IB学习者属性的“关爱他人”属性在每个年级持续进行。一些班级在他们的教室建立了爱心墙,还有一些班级在日常活动中表现出关爱他人的行为。同时,我们也向家长发送了自我保护的指引,以加强家庭安全教育。

 

在MYP,学校顾问花了很多时间与学生、班主任和学科教师会面,以密切了解学生的表现和需求。每周,学生们都会有一次心理辅导课程,其心理需求可以得到即时的反馈和解决。

 

精神关怀部门办公室的设施齐全,学生有需要时可向学校辅导员咨询。本学期我们还从深圳LIH Olivia’s Place引进资源,以支持有特殊需要的学生。保证每个学生都能平等地获得教学资源,且不会忽视他们的个人发展道路。

Pastoral Care Department


——TWIS Counselor


In this semester, the Pastoral Care Department put great effort to promote students’ well-being. In PYP, students did a great job in learning about anti-bullying, caring and self-protection. Encouraging the IB learner profile attribute of being caring continued in every grade level. Some classes built a caring wall in their main classrooms, and some others demonstrated improvement of caring behavior in their daily activities. Besides, an instruction of self-protection was sent to parents to enhance safety education at home.


In MYP, the school counselor spent time with students, as well as met often with homeroom teachers and subject teachers to get a close understanding of students’ performance and needs. Students had a weekly Pastoral Care class wherein their needs were addressed without delay.


The Pastoral Care Room was well equipped with various facilities, and students were able to consult the school counselor by appointment when they felt the necessity. A therapeutic resource was introduced from Shenzhen LIH Olivia’s Place this semester in order to support better students with special needs. Each student was guaranteed that they accessed pedagogical resources equally, without neglecting their individual developmental path.


艺术学部


——TWIS 艺术主管


TWIS音乐部门举办了9场下午茶音乐会、3场大型音乐会和首届音乐家比赛暨才艺秀。不管是正式还是非正式的表演,表演者都在展示着自己的音乐,展示着音乐合唱、乐器独奏和合奏的能力;前来欣赏的全校观众则学习着音乐会礼仪,学习欣赏艺术。

 

在比赛中,我们的学生可以展示高水平、高质量的表演。学期末的音乐家大赛我们还邀请了来自不同国家的评委,采用了专业的国际考试评分机制,让学生也能体验到更专业的国际艺术考试体系。

 

在学术领域,PYP和MYP学生都学习了经过严谨逻辑设计的系统性的音乐教育课程。我们的目标是希望所有学生都能学习至少一种乐器,鼓励所有的学生参与音乐学习,无论他们是否有音乐基础。在教学过程中,让学生认识到音乐在社会中的重要性,并确保我们一贯为学生提供高质量的音乐教育。我们的音乐教育帮助学生更好地融入学校环境,通过音乐学习掌握IB教育。

 

TWIS的视觉艺术课程与音乐课程精彩相当,学生通过不同主题的绘画表达自己的理解。他们也用色彩填满校园里闲置的墙壁,为此创作了多幅令人惊叹的壁画。

Arts Department


——TWIS Head of Arts


The music department organized 9 Teatime Showcases, 3 formal concerts and the school's first musician competition this year. In the Teatime Showcase performance, we encourage students of different levels to participate in the performance (more than 40 students participated), so this kind of concert performances can allow the whole school to learn etiquette and learn how to appreciate the arts. In the 3 festival concerts, our students demonstrated music chorus, ensemble, and instrument solo skills.


Our students can show high-level and high-quality performances. The musician competition also invited judges of different nationalities, and adopted a professional international examination scoring mechanism, so that students can also experience a more professional international art examination system.

In terms of academic achievement, both PYP and MYP students have learned systematic curriculum, and all teaching designs are logical and systematic. Our goal is to hope that all students can learn a musical instrument and encourage all students to participate in music learning regardless of whether they have a musical foundation or not. We let students realise the importance of music in society and ensure that we consistently provide young students with the highest quality music education. Our music education helps students better integrate into the school environment and master different IB roles through music learning.

For visual arts, students demonstrate their understanding through paintings on different themes. In school, we also use idle walls to create various amazing murals.



寄宿部

“家外之家”


——TWIS 寄宿总监


对于TWIS寄宿项目来说,这是非常忙碌的一年。这一年,我们努力改进现有的寄宿结构,建立了额外的活动和项目,给寄宿学生带来一个“家外之家”。

 

PYP学生每天晚上会有娱乐和游戏活动,比如电影之夜和睡前阅读项目,老师会到学校给他们带来睡前故事。

 

TWIS校园领导团队已经规划并安装了全新的户外运动设施,包括跷跷板、攀岩、荡秋千和全新的笼式网球场。下一学年开始,我们的学生便可尽情享用这些设施,包括现有的供PYP和MYP每晚使用的健身房。更重要的是,我们还会有一个夜间自习室,学生可以在一个安静的环境中专注于他们的学业。

 

寄宿环境的安全政策和设施也在定期更新,包括关于儿童安全的生活老师培训、消防安全和火灾警报演习等,以确保学生在发生紧急情况时知道该做什么和去哪里。

Boarding Department

"A Home Away from Home"


——TWIS Boarding Director


This year was very busy for the TWIS Boarding Program as we worked hard to improve upon the existing structure of the House from last year with additional activities and programs to create a home away from home for our boarding students. 


For PYP boarders there was fun and games activities in the evenings as well as movie nights and evening reading program where teachers would come into the House to read a bedtime story.


This year the TWIS campus leadership team has planned and already installed several new outdoor playground facilities including an exciting collection of see-saws, rope climbing, swings and also a brand-new professional Padle Court. Next year as soon as the school year begins, we will have all of those facilities available for both PYP and MYP to use on a nightly basis, with the existing fitness room. What’s more, we will have a nightly study hall where students can focus their minds on their work in a quiet setting.


Safety procedures were updated regularly including Life Coach training on child safety, fire safety and fire alarm drills to ensure students know what to do and where to go in the event of an emergency.


CASE 课外活动项目


——TWIS 课外活动协调员


TWIS的CASE课外课程活动已经实现为一个稳定且持续发展的项目。一个学期提供20余节课外活动,从周一到周四,每天下午4点到5点,我们都可以看到学生们积极参与的身影。课外活动类型涵盖创造力课程、体育活动、服务和语言支持等,丰富多样的类型让学生对自己的喜好持更为开放的态度,并学会迎接对未知的挑战。


总的来说,学生们对于CASE表现出很高的满意度,这也得益于CASE领导者所提供课程的灵活性、聚焦性和趣味性。尝试新的活动、接触新的朋友和老师、迎接新的挑战从来都是CASE主旨的一部分,每年提供的数十个课外活动,都有利于学生提高国际意识,同时更为接近IB学习者属性和ALT学习方法的实践。一些家长期待着新的一年有更多活动的加入,因为活动的不断创新可以为TWIS社区增加更多的价值。

CASE Department


——TWIS CASE Coordinator


This year, CASE at TWIS has achieved a stable ongoing program from four to five in the afternoon, Monday to Thursday. Presented to all students, it has offered over 20 experiential learning activities during the week. Stretching from Creativity through Activity, Service to English, and language support. CASE has led students to be more open-minded regarding their likes and hobbies as well as discovering new ways to approach challenges.


In general, students that have made the most of their CASE time have shown high satisfaction. This has generally been due to the flexibility, focalization, and fun provided by the CASE leaders. Trying new activities and discovering new friends, teachers, and challenges is part of the mission of TWIS CASE. Seeing an offering of 35 different activities that have as an objective to bring students closer to an international-mindedness of IB Schools. Achieved through the development of different IB Learner Profiles and ATLs.
