愉快轻松的暑假如期而至。然而在教育界，有一种说法叫“暑期滑坡现象”（Summer Slide），意指如果孩子在假期期间不坚持阅读与学习，孩子的阅读和其他学术能力会出现大幅度下滑的现象。由于目前的情况不适合参加暑期学校或夏令营，东华文泽学校因此向学生发起一个夏日挑战计划！

While teachers are always pleased to be on holiday, at the back of their minds, they often worry about 'summer slide' happening to their students. The 'summer slide' is a decline in reading ability and other academic skills that can occur over the summer months for most students. As the current situation is not ideal for attending summer school or joining summer camps, Tungwah Wenzel International School challenges its students to Rise to the TWIS Challenge!

TWIS夏日挑战计划由教师按年级设计，以防止学生出现暑期滑坡现象和过度沉溺于电子设备。让我们迎接活动挑战，共同促进学生身体、智力、情感和社交能力的全面发展吧！

The program is designed by teachers per grade level to prevent the summer slide; get students off their e-device; and engage in activities that take care of their PIES or their physical, intellectual, emotional and social well-being. 

T 代表“才能”

T is for TALENT

T 代表“才能”（Talent）。假期里充裕的空闲时间，是继续磨练自身擅长领域的最佳机会。比如，制定一个每周乐器练习计划（每周练习五次，每次30-60分钟），或者使用乐高、高达或木头进行手工制作。

T is for TALENT. Summer is the best time to continue honing skills in disciplines that you are already good at. For example, make a weekly instrument practice plan (5 times a week, 30-60 minutes each time) or build with your hands using Lego, Gundam or wood.

W 代表“身心健康”

W is for WELL-BEING

W 代表“身心健康”（Well-being）。身心健康是我们维持良好社会生活的基本因素，是时候重视起来！参加一些能让你感觉开心、健康的活动。比如，与家人朋友在公园里享受大自然的清新气息；与兄弟姐妹挑战新的棋盘游戏；自己进行冥想练习和学习自我情绪舒缓的技巧。

W is for WELL-BEING. Time to prioritize your physical and mental health! Engage in activities that will make you feel good, healthier and fitter! Spend time with family and friends at the park; play a new board game with siblings, and practice mindfulness exercises and self-calming skills.

I 代表“智力追求”

I is for

INTELLECTUAL PURSUITS

I 代表智力追求（Intellectual Pursuits）。阅读、数学练习，都是让我们大脑保持思考的方式。相信教师们已经给学生提供了许多可在线订阅的账户与资料，如RAZ Kids、Mangahigh、Science A-Z Writing A-Z和BrainPop。请确保你完成了教师分配给你的阅读和练习任务——因为教师们也会随时关注学生们的进度。还有，从学校图书馆借来的书籍，别让它们静静地处于某个角落堆积灰尘，一起好好读书吧！

I is for INTELLECTUAL PURSUITS. Engage in reading, math practice and get your brain thinking. Your teachers have given you access to our online subscriptions like RAZ Kids, Mangahigh, Science A-Z Writing A-Z and BrainPop. Make sure you complete your assigned tasks - your teachers can monitor your progress.

Don't forget the books you've checked out from the library - don't let them sit still and gather dust - take a mental vacation and read!

S 代表"服务"

S is for SERVICE

S 代表“服务”（Service）。你可以通过一些善意的举动来表达你对家人、朋友、动植物和地球的关心。可以从细微的小事做起，比如清洁打扫、为家人准备餐食、把干净的衣服叠起来放进衣柜等等，也可以帮忙照顾小狗或小猫。“服务”这项“小事”可以存在于任何地方！

S is for SERVICE: You can show how much you care for your family, friends, other living things and the planet by doing random acts of kindness. Clean after yourself; prepare meals for your family; and fold clothes that have been washed and put them in the closet. Offer to babysit or walk someone's dog - the list is endless!

As you Rise to the TWIS Summer Challenge, remember to:

记录你所做的事情，并让你的父母或者监护人在完成后签字。

Keep a log of what you do and have your parent/guardian sign off the activity.

复盘所获得的成就和遇到的困难之处。

Reflect on your accomplishments and challenges.

参与这些活动的时候可以通过影像的方式记录下来。

Take photos or videos while engaged in various activities.

挑战记录将在开学后的第一周提交给教师 ，你为此付出的努力将直接帮助提高TWIS学院分数。参与的学生越多，学院的分数就会越高。有趣的惊喜奖励，如电影之夜、披萨派对或戏水日都等待着获胜的学院。并且，在八月份，TWIS图书馆将会开放给TWIS家庭，让我们的学生可以借阅更多的英语书籍或归还他们已经读过的书籍。还在等什么？一起来参与TWIS夏日挑战吧！

Your documents will be presented to your homeroom on the first week of school, and your efforts will contribute to your TWIS House Color points. The more students who participate, the more points your House will earn. Fun rewards such as a movie night, a pizza party or a Water Fun Day await the winning House! What's more, in the month of August, the TWIS libraries will be open for TWIS families to allow our students to borrow more English books or return books they have already read. So what are you waiting for? Rise to the TWIS Summer Challenge!
