亚当斯曾说：“一位教师对人的影响是永恒的。”对于教师而言，传道、授业、解惑的过程，肩负着教书育人的责任，也意味着可实时或延时收获耕耘的快乐。在这一特殊节日里，我们精选了一部分给学生带来启蒙的教育者——每次走进教室他们总能赋予学生与众不同的体验——分享了各自的教学感悟与历程。

我从1995年开始当老师，从1998年开始一直从业于国际学校。在我的教学生涯中，我有幸在5个不同的国家工作过，从菲律宾、日本、泰国到阿曼，最后来到中国。在某种程度上，我好像是一个游牧式的教育工作者，但这提供了我一种理解不同文化的独特的视角。

不仅是传递知识，我对教育热情之处在于——与学生建立关联。于我而言，教育是赋予学生一种使命感，树立价值观，让学生能够自如应对这瞬息万变的世界，以及培养国际思维，学会与他人共处。

这也是为什么我非常感谢在TWIS可以采用IB课程进行教学的原因。正如爱因斯坦所说，教育不是学习知识，而是训练思维能力。

I have been a teacher since 1995 and I have been working in international schools since 1998. I have had the privilege to work in 5 different countries in my career from the Philippines to Japan and then Thailand, Oman and of course China. In a way, this is like being a nomad educator and it provided me with a unique perspective on each of the cultures.

What makes me passionate about education is building connections with the students and going beyond teaching just content. Education is about giving a sense of purpose to the students, modelling values so that they can adapt easily to our fast-changing world and fostering international mindedness so that they can collaborate well with others.

That is why I am very thankful to teach at TWIS using the IB programs because like Albert Einstein once said “Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind”.

2012年，我毕业于美国伊凡斯维尔大学，获得教育学学士学位，此后一直在美国印第安纳州、塞尔维亚贝尔格莱德和中国东莞等地任教。

十多年前，我选择了教育作为我的志业，是因为这一职业让我有机会激励未来的一代，帮助他们增强自信心，积极地改变他们的生命体验。

我喜欢与孩子共处，始终深信每个孩子都是独一无二和才华横溢的个体，他们应该有机会获得良好的教育，同时与他人共享知识。见证学生的进步总是让我倍感欣慰。

I graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 2012 since then I have been teaching in Indiana USA, Belgrade Serbia and Dongguan, China.

More than 10 years ago when I was choosing my major at the university I picked education as it would allow me to inspire future generations, make a difference in students' lives and help them strengthen their confidence.

I love children and I believe that each child is a very unique and talented individual who deserves a chance to learn but at the same time share their knowledge with others. It is very rewarding witnessing my students' improvement.

从开启我教学生涯的第一节课开始，至今已有8年的时间。与此同时，我也对未来或许数十年的教学生涯充满无尽的期待。

成为一名教师的契机，是我受到了一名大学讲师的启发，他为我打开了一扇关于教育的大门，并引领我上了第一节一对一授课，如今我还能忆起曾经感受过的压力和巨大的乐趣。

虽说老套，但我相信成为最受学生喜爱的教师的关键，在于与学生建立密切的联系。基于一种教师与学生之间的相互尊重，获得彼此的信任，从而让你成为一名与众不同的教师。

Eight years and counting, I taught my first lesson and have not stopped ever since and am very excited about the years (hopefully many decades) of teaching to come.

I got unbelievably inspired by one of my university lecturers who introduced me to the world of education and brought me to my first ever one-to-one lesson, remember both the stress I had felt before and the enormous happiness that engulfed me after the lesson.

As clichéd as it is, I believe that the key to becoming one of someone’s favorite teachers lies in building close relationships that are at the same time based on mutual respect with each learner, this is when they reach the level of trust and comfort for you to make a real difference. 

曾经我没想过会成为一名老师，但如今我很感激五年前的选择。走好教学这条道路不太容易，但这也是为什么我十分珍惜教学的时光，这意味着有数不胜数的改变、内省、成长、泪水和快乐。所以我现在最大的困扰是，如何成为一名优秀的老师。

To be honest, I never thought I’d become a teacher. But now I am so grateful for the choice I made 5 years ago. I would not change a thing. Of course, it has not always been easy, but that is why I cherish the experience: there has been lots of change, lots of soul searching, and lots of growth, lots of tears, and lots of joy. My biggest concern now is ‘what am I now, if I am not a good teacher?’
