上星期一场以阅读为主题的“书中人物巡游”活动一定给大家留下深刻的印象。这周，TWIS延续这种全校参与阅读的氛围，与Obido欧贝豆图书主办方合作举办图书展，为学生提供多种选择书籍的方式，帮助他们爱上阅读。

在TWIS庆祝家庭知识月之际，Obido图书展为家庭图书角提供了一个增添书籍的绝佳机会。Obido图书展涵盖不同级别和主题的书籍，令我们的学生期盼着与家人共同分享阅读的乐趣。祝大家阅读愉快!

As TWIS celebrates National Family Literacy Month, this Book Fair is a perfect opportunity for families to grow their own personal libraries. Obido has provided beautiful displays of English books of various levels and themes that made our students excited to own these books to be shared with mom and dad. Happy reading to all!

对于国际柔道界来说，每年10月28日是一个特殊的日子，是庆祝柔道这项运动的日子，也是柔道创始人嘉纳治五郎的生日。拥有PYP小学和MYP中学柔道俱乐部的TWIS，在国际柔道日这一天举办了柔道展示大会。在防护自我和他人安全的前提下，柔道俱乐部的教练和学员向我们展示了柔道攻防术。2021年的国际柔道日主题为“团结”，柔道运动员们在展示大会上以柔道技术进行相互切磋的同时，更珍贵的是，学会团结和增进友谊。

Every year, October 28th is a special date for the international judo community, a day of celebration of judokas, on the birthday of their founder, Jigoro Kano Shihan. At TWIS, PYP and MYP judo clubs held a judo assembly to showcase their demonstrated attack and defense techniques under the premise of protecting the safety of self and others. Aligned with this year's theme of Solidarity, our judokas strengthened their friendship by connecting with each other through the techniques of this discipline. It is great to see the progress of our young judokas.

下午茶音乐会一如既往地在每个月的最后一个星期四展开。从二年级到九年级，不同年级的学生踊跃报名参与，用钢琴、小提琴、爵士鼓、尤克里里等乐器，演奏了《菊次郎的夏天（Summer）》、《It's My Life》、贝多芬《热情（奏鸣曲第三乐章）》等乐曲。非正式的音乐会虽然简短，但轻松的氛围反而赋予了学生积极上台演奏的勇气，与此同时，演奏者将其音乐的热情传递给听众，让更多的人感受到音乐的美好。我们期待着下一场音乐会的到来！

As what has now become a tradition, this month's Teatime Concert was a musical feast and a training ground for budding performers. Grades 2 to 9 students enthusiastically signed up to participate, and confidently performed music such as Summer by Joe Hisaishi, It's My Life, Sonata No. 23 Appassionata 3rd Movement by Beethoven on piano, drum kits, violin and ukelele. We look forward to the next one!

10月23日，七年级学生Eva在广东省青少年游泳锦标赛女子100米比赛中，取得了01:01.54的佳绩，成功达到了国家游泳运动员一级水平。出身于游泳世家的Eva，天资聪颖，从5岁开始游泳训练，拥有着连成年人都难以企及的毅力和恒心。她于2015年第一次参加东莞市系列赛，从开始的重在参与，到如今获得佳绩，离不开长期的毅力和坚持不懈，祝贺Eva！

On October 23rd, Grade 7 student Eva achieved a great performance of  01:01.54 at the group of Woman's 100m of Guangdong Swimming Youth Championships, successfully reaching the standard of the national first-level athlete. Eva, born into a family of swimmers, has shown commitment to the sport since she was five. From the first time she participated in a competition in 2015, to the great performance she has achieved now, we are in awe with her determination and perseverance. Congratulations, Eva! Your TWIS family is proud of you!

为丰富学生公开演讲的学习体验，TWIS中文演讲俱乐部组织了一场前往松山湖头马国际演讲俱乐部的研学活动。中文演讲课作为TWIS的课外活动之一，主旨在于拓展学生在语言、肢体表达、组织能力和领导力等领域的知识。在演讲活动中，学生关注着每一位演讲者的表现，学习如何完成高质量的演讲，以及如何评价演讲表演。TWIS很高兴看到他们能够被演讲的精神所鼓舞，从中收获自信和热情。让我们一起期待下一场演讲活动的到来！

Last month, the TWIS Chinese Speech Club attended the Toastmaster International Event to learn more about public speaking. 

As part of our CASE inquiry on public speaking, we are looking forward to expanding our knowledge of professional performance, use of body language, organizational skills and leadership. During the event, students were focused on every speaker, paying close attention to how to present a high-quality speech and how to evaluate a formal speech. We were delighted to see their life was inspired and enlightened by the speeches to gain confidence in sharing their thoughts and ideas with an audience. We look forward to the next event!
