The IB Continuum of International Education is a programme designed for students aged 3-19, covering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Career Programme (CP), which is recognized worldwide as a gold-standard international education programme. When making a decision to study the IB curriculum, the IB Continuum school is the most ideal and desirable choice, as the IB educational philosophy emphasized in different phases of the programmes can be well articulated and connected, and passed on along the way. 

The PYP, preparing students aged 3-12 to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning, has an emphasis on the development of the whole child as an INQUIRER guided by six transdisciplinary themes. Focused on intellectual challenge, the MYP equips students aged 11-16 with the skills and qualities for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement that are essential in the 21st century. As an academically challenging programme with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond, the DP has gained high recognition from the world's leading universities since it's designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. 

Aligned with TWIS’s school vision, the aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

A school must achieve all the IB's rigorous criteria of school philosophy, faculty, leadership, physical and virtual facilities before it can be accredited by the IBO organization. Most schools usually develop the IB continuum over time, adding programmes as the school grows, and for new schools, the journey often takes 3-5 years.

Not TWIS. From being shortlisted as an IB candidate school to being officially authorized for the IBDP, IBPYP, and IBMYP programmes, it took only 19 months for Tungwah Wenzel International School. The speed of the authorization can be credited to a very supportive school board, strong pedagogical leadership team, well-equipped facilities, and a teaching staff that shares the same mission and vision as the IB. 

Since its inception, the school has implemented all the standards and practices according to all IB requirements. Moreover, TWIS passed the three authorizations with flying colors - receiving commendations from the IB for practices that are being implemented over and beyond the authorization standards.

What's next?

Now that IB has recognized the rigor in our academic programmes, we have become a 'school of choice' for students and educators. We are excited to welcome families who are keen to have their children grow in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural open-minded learning environment. We are looking forward to being joined by teachers with the same commitment and passion as we do in education.

We will continue working with the IBO to review and develop the PYP, MYP and DP. Our students will continue to enjoy rich learning experiences in their classrooms, in our huge modern campus and in the local community. We will continue to emphasize the importance of pursuing one's personal best, acts of service, developing well-rounded personalities and making a positive difference in this world. 

Against all odds, we have reached an important milestone and we are determined to achieve more.
