This week your children will receive their assessment examination results. Much of this information should not be a surprise and hopefully, many students will be happy with their results and receive positive validation that their hard work throughout the year has paid off. 

本周您的孩子将收到考试的成绩报告单，我相信大多数学生的成绩都取得预期成绩。希望学生们都满意他们这次考试的成绩，这是他们一年来认真学习的证明。

For some students who have not sat formal exams before, they will have found the process a steep learning curve, this too is okay. The routines involved in assessment weeks and the stamina required is something that needs practice just like many other school routines. 

对于一些之前没有参加过正式考试的学生来说，本次考试周可能是一个小挑战。但不用紧张，通过考试周，学生可以熟悉考试流程并且锻炼自己的毅力。

Metacognition or thinking about how we learn is a really hot topic in education at the moment. In our PSHE programme next year, we will have focused sessions on how to learn and what effective revision looks like. Earlier this term, Mrs. Jones delivered a Spotlight on Education session for parents to introduce and reinforce how parents can support their children’s study habits at home. 如何进行有效地学习是教育界近期非常热门的一个话题。我们下学年的 PSHE 课程也将围绕如何有效学习以及复习展开。前段时间Mrs Jones举办了一场教育聚焦线上讲座，分享了父母如何在家里支持孩子们学习的一些建议。如果您想再次观看，请搜索学校的官方视频号“LEHF 霍利斯国际学校”进行回顾。

Not only are we aware that many children need to become more aware of their learning preferences, but we are also increasingly becoming more informed about how well-being affects a child’s or teenager’s ability to learn.  Here at LEH, you will constantly hear the message that a happy child is more able to learn, and we fully believe that a positive learning environment is a major key to success. Research is now emerging that this is even more relevant than ever before. Learning in a classroom which is designed for group and independent study is essential to what is now termed as ‘welldoing.’ The approach of ‘well-doing’ prioritises students’ mental wellbeing which in turn creates long-term healthy learning and teaching habits for students and teachers.

为了帮助孩子们能更好地学习，我们需要了解他们的学习偏好。除此之外，幸福感也对他们的学习能力有重要影响。在佛山霍利斯，我们一直强调：快乐的孩子更愿意学习，我们认为积极的学习氛围是至关重要的。在课堂上，我们通过小组学习以及独立学习来培养孩子们良好的学习行为，这对他们的心理健康很有益。从长远看，这也会对老师和同学们地教学与学习习惯长生积极影响。

These key approaches will be incorporated into the pedagogy of our new Prep school to support student metacognition. Next year, Mrs. Bateman will share these simple but resilience building strategies with parents in a Spotlight on Education session.

下一年新开设的预备学校也会继续沿用这些关键的教学方式。同时，Mrs Bateman也将在下学年的教育聚焦讲座上，与各位家长分享更多简单但实用的教育方式。

I hope you will join me in congratulating Mrs. Kirk in her appointment as Head of Sixth Form. She will be guiding our students (including my daughter) to the top universities in the world. As you already know, Mrs. Kirk has many years of experience and is very excited to support our students on the next part of their learning journey. 

另外我想借此机会跟各位家长们宣布，Mrs Kirk将被任命为12-13年级（英文别称：Sixth Form）主任。她将指导我们的学生（包括我的女儿）进入世界顶尖大学。相信您也知道，Mrs Kirk有多年的教学经验，她也非常期待能带领我们的学生进入下一段的学习。

Next week, our year 11 students will receive Taster Lessons for their chosen A-Level subjects. These will give them an introduction into the expectations of each subject and they will receive some work to complete over the summer holidays. This could include learning key terms or reading around topics. A-Levels require students to be independent in their learning and be self-motivated rather than waiting to be directed by the teacher.

下周，11年级的学生将对他们所选的A level科目进行试课，他们将能够了解所选科目的大致学习内容并为自己设定目标，同时他们将需要在暑假期间完成一些作业，可能包含提前预习课程或主题阅读等。到了A level这一阶段，我希望学生能够独立自主进行学习，而非只是等待老师进行指导。

Our year 11s will also take part in Service Fortnight. Many of you will know that universities expect to see this on their application forms. The students will work with teachers across the school and be given responsibilities, along with taking the initiative to get jobs done and help staff. 

11年级的学生还将参加两周的志愿活动，许多家长可能也知道，许多大学的申请都非常注重学生的实践经验。届时，学生们将会被分配不同的任务，来协助老师们以及其他员工一起工作。

LEH International School Foshan in partnership with Trumptech is excited to launch Summer Tech 2022, a multi-activity week programme that features science, technology and art. It aims to maximise learning, adventure and fun for students aged 8 to 16 during this summer break.  

佛山市霍利斯外籍人员子女学校很高兴将联合香港尊科举办第一届科创x艺术交流体验活动——创享艺夏 2022，面向8-16岁学生开放，提供丰富多元的学习和游戏活动，帮助学生们丰富和充实暑期时光。

With various sessions involving STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), computer sciences, creative art, and sports, the Summer Tech 2022 is designed to provide a balanced course structured and developed to encourage students’ academic skills through a range of inspiring activities that are based on but go beyond the school curriculum. 

佛山霍利斯创享艺夏 2022的内容涉及STEM（科学、技术、工程和数学）、计算机科学、创意艺术和体育这几个学科，是学校常规课程内容的拓展，并希望以此帮助学生们提升科学创新思维并发掘艺术潜能。

In consideration of boarding students’ schedule and the time they usually need to get things ready before bedtime after they return to school, we would like to gently remind parents that the return time on Sunday is from 16:00 to 19:30 (unless otherwise specified). It is suggested that students return to school on Monday morning instead, if they can only arrive later than 19:30 on Sunday. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

After the intensive examination week, the mathematics department are looking at how we might encourage LEH Foshan students to engage more fully in their own learning. In mathematics there are lot of subject specific words and much vocabulary for our students to learn. As with all languages there is a beauty to be found in the written word and so we want our students to celebrate this by reading around subjects and enjoying the many mysteries that mathematics can offer in the form of fiction and non-fiction books. Here are just a few of our favourite books that we would recommend that you to read.

以下是本周的脑筋急转弯题目，趁着周末跟孩子们一起尝试找出答案吧！

This week sees the first ever House swimming competition at LEH Foshan. Students will compete in a range of individual and team events based on their ability. Pupils will participate in either 25m or 50m races, demonstrating a range of swimming techniques. The first round of races will be the individual races, where pupils will race against their peers in ability based events, following the individual races pupils will team up with others in their House to participate in the team relay events culminating in the 10 x 25m kickboard race, where 10 pupils from each House will take it in turns to swim 25m before handing over the kickboard to the next swimmer until all 10 have completed the distance.

本周佛山霍利斯举办了第一场学院游泳比赛。学生们根据自己的游泳水平分组，参加一系列的个人和团体比赛，包括25米或50米的赛道比赛，展示出精湛的游泳技巧。第一轮比赛是个人赛，能力相当的学生之间展开了激烈的竞争！个人赛结束之后，学院之间开展10x25米的接力赛，每个学院派出10名学生，每人游25米，然后将浮板接力给下一个游泳者，10个人全部完成即成功。

This is a great opportunity for pupils to demonstrate their swimming skills in a competitive situation and for us all to find out just who is the fastest swimmer at LEH Foshan.

LEHF pupils have focused on learning to speak eloquently, write beautifully, and compose elegantly in language classes. Everything they have done throughout the academic year has contributed to achieving these three aims.

佛山霍利斯的学生在语言课上致力于实现精讲、精写、精作。在整个学年的学习当中，他们都朝着这三个方向不断精益求精。

Public speaking ability is one of the cornerstones of academic and professional confidence and fulfilment, and a key part of the student experience at LEHF. On Thursday 16th June 2022, LEHF pupils will have the opportunity to demonstrate their public speaking skills in the Joint Mandarin-English Speech Contest organised by Mandarin Department and English Department. Two Mandarin speakers and two English speakers in each year group have been selected from the qualification trials held in their Mandarin and English classes to participate in the final contest.

出色的公共演讲能力是实现学术表现和增强自信成就的奠基石之一，锻炼和提高学生的公共演讲能力也是佛山霍利斯的一大特色。2022年6月16日星期四，佛山霍利斯的学生将参加由中英文学科共同举办的中英文朗诵比赛，展示他们的公共演讲才华。学校将根据班级选拔初赛中的表现，从每个年级中分别挑选两名中文演讲者和两名英文演讲者参加决赛。

The contest will be held during ECA 1 & 2, due to conclude at 6 pm. All parents are warmly welcome to watch the contest in the Assembly Hall. 

本次中英文朗诵比赛将在ECA 1和ECA 2期间举行，于下午6点结束。我们诚挚邀请所有家长到礼堂观看比赛！ 

Our next Year 6 to 10 Parent Teacher Consultation (PTC) will take place at the school assembly hall on Friday 17th June, from 13:40 to 17:00. During the event, parents will be allocated a 5-minute appointment with individual subject teachers who will give a brief overview of students’ progress over the year and offer suggestions as to how students can improve even further. Appointments will be made for those who are attending, and I would respectfully ask that you note the timings that were on the email that Miss Li sent out and reply to her with your preferred choice. This will help her to devise the appointment schedule. Appointments are limited to five minutes; if further discussion is required then a separate meeting should be agreed with the teacher.

6至10年级家长会将于6月17日（星期五）下午13:40 至17:00在学校礼堂举行。家长会能给家长们提供和每位科任老师进行面对面交流的机会，从而了解自己孩子的学习进度，探讨如何帮助孩子取得进步。如您确定参加家长会，请回复李老师的邮件并选择您希望跟老师沟通的时间段。李老师将根据各位家长的回复编排时间表。请注意每位家长与老师的沟通时间为5分钟，如您需要进一步跟老师沟通，请与老师预约额外的时间。
