Reflecting on the passing of time, I thought about how busy, yet vibrant, this year has been. The school has grown, you have grown. As a school we have gained a better understanding of the type of school we are, and you as students have learnt more about yourselves over the course of this academic year.

Take a moment of time today to reflect on what you have learnt this year, what successes you have had and what challenges you have faced. Reflect on this and set yourself a goal for next year.

I want to congratulate to our prize winners – you should be proud of your accomplishments. And to everyone, you should feel happy that you had another successful school year.

I am very proud of each one of you. I feel very honoured to be your Head mistress and to watch you grow – like a flower in the sun - with deep roots of knowledge and beautiful, vibrant petals in your own personal development.

回首过去的日子，我忙碌着，幸福着。学校在成长，孩子们在成长。学校对于当下所处教育发展形势和未来发展方向更为明晰，学生们在整个学年里收获了更多知识和自我认知。

停下来仔细回想下，在这一年里，学到了什么，获得了哪些成就，直面了哪些挑战。并为来年设定个新的目标。

Congratulations on your achievements and growth through the past school year!

Harrow Innovation Academy Haikou aims to cultivate our students with Chinese roots and a global perspective. The school fully recognize the potential of each student through differentiated teaching and versatile activities.

Remember there is no excellence or success without hard work. You shall be fully committed to everything, go all out, and build your self-discipline and resilience.

Winston Churchill, former British Prime Minister and one of our Harrow Alumni once said “Success is stumbling from failure to failure, with no loss of enthusiasm.”

Summer Break is just around the corner. I hope you will explore, develop, and devote yourself to your hobbies during the vacation. Meanwhile, you can continue to cultivate your self-discipline and resilience, which will benefit you for a lifetime.

Today is a celebration of some of your gifts and talents, but all of you should be incredibly proud of yourselves.  You have all worked very hard this year and we have balanced this with the fun times in school such as ducker, sports day, spelling bee, world book day and the dressing up parade, house music and many more wonderful events. Look around at all these staff gathered here today for you, because we know you are all very special and we want you to know that. 

今天，我们为获奖者而庆祝。请一定要记住，今天你们所有人都应该以自己为荣。这一年，你们勤奋学习，在平衡学业的同时，你们还参加了许多有趣的活动，例如环校跑、运动会、拼写大赛、世界读书日、盛装游行、院舍音乐比赛以及其它精彩的赛事活动。环顾今天也同样陪同你们在场的老师们，我们想让你们知道，你们中的每一个人都是如此的特别。

So that brings us to the end of another wonderful year here at Harrow Haikou, I have enjoyed the great journey we have all been on. I would like to give my thanks to the Harrow community; Staff, students and families, all our efforts help to ensure such a successful school. As we continue to move forward into the future, let us all continue to improve and make the best of what we have. Remember the future is completely open and we are writing it moment to moment.

I have spoken several times in Assemblies this year challenging students to reflect on their performance and to consider what they need to do to be the absolute best version of themselves that they can be, for importantly, despite all the support we offer them, only they can make this decision and act upon it.  To achieve this, students will have needed to take personal responsibility for those things that they can influence in their lives, made just choices, faced many challenges with determination and have contributed positively to our school community as they worked collaboratively and creatively with fellow students and teachers.

So students did you?  Did you seize those opportunities to further develop yourselves both inside and outside the academic classroom? Remember learning takes place everywhere and it isn’t just because there is a test or exam. Try to reflect on this over the summer in preparation for our next academic year.

This year, we have achieved so much, we have reflected, sought feedback, and have endeavored to do our absolute best. “Educational Excellence for Life and Leadership.” This stands true for all of us today. Harrow’s high academic standards, traditions, and service to the community, set in a dynamic and vibrant Haikou setting, has enabled us to begin to discover and realize our potential.

 Courage, Honor, Humility and Fellowship are our four core Harrow values. Let us review how we exemplified these values this year. We tried our best in every competition, we were not afraid of arduous work, everyone completed house events with pride, facing challenges with determination. Every corner, every corridor and every classroom at Harrow Haikou has been brimming with youth, energy, and vitality. Participation in events was to be commended. We had our House Music Challenge. We prepared for two months, we all wanted our house to win the competition, but more than that we worked as a community, as a team, as a family. This culminated in a stunning display of fantastic performances. Events that will surely remain in our hearts and memories for a lifetime. Last week we participated in The 5olor Fun House event. There was a myriad of activities where we needed to work together, collaborate, and cooperate. Everyone put in a heroic effort towards a common goal, no one was afraid of falling, failing, trying. Every student helped and supported each other, encouraged each other, and cheered for each other. Solving problems with intelligence and showing Fellowship at every turn. Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts. Let us now congratulate the winning houses but also give yourself and each other with a round of applause.

One of my most favorite memories so far is when I saw new students being helped to adjust to their new environment by other students. Senior students introduced new pupils to their classmates, showed them the school facilities and answered their questions.  I think this is the best interpretation of fellowship.

Harrow places enormous value on both courage and honor, and I was reminded of both of these during the Harrow Ducker. Compared with last year, this year’s competition was even more challenging for us. I recall that a member from my house had difficulty finishing the whole course. However, when she heard the deafening cheers from her house members, she felt encouraged and kept running. I think it was the encouragement from her peers that gave her the courage to complete the course.

We have obtain friendship from one of the four values of our school ——"fellowship". I think that's the case with Y10. Two years ago, when we first came to Harrow, we were young and immature. We were not familiar with all the people around us. We did not dare to communicate with others. But after all of us ran into each other, soon we became the Y10 family. We showed a good spirit of fellowship in both learning and activities, and established a deep friendship with each other.  Although many students will leave us to go to other schools or cities after graduating from Upper School, I believe that the flame of our friendship will never be extinguished.

我在今年的集会上多次发言，要求学生反思他们的表现，并考虑他们需要做些什么才能成为最好的自己，因为重要的是，尽管我们为他们提供了所有支持，但只有他们可以做出这个决定并采取行动。 为实现这一目标，学生需要对他们可以影响他们生活的事情承担个人责任，做出公正的选择，坚定地面对许多挑战，并与同学们在创造性合作中为我们的学校社区做出积极的贡献。

所以同学们有吗？ 您是否抓住这些机会在学术课堂内外进一步发展自己？ 请记住，学习无处不在，而不仅仅是因为有测试或考试。 试着在这个夏天对此进行反思，为我们的下一学年做准备。

 这一年，我们取得了很多成就，我们反思，寻求反馈，努力做到最好。“育以至善，卓以领航。” 今天对我们所有人来说都是如此。哈罗的高学术标准、传统和社区服务，在充满活力和活力的海口环境中，使我们能够开始发现和实现我们的潜力。

勇气、荣誉、谦和、互助是我们的四大核心价值观。让我们回顾一下我们今年是如何体现这些价值观的。每一场比赛我们都全力以赴，不惧艰难，每个人都自豪地完成了院舍活动，以决心迎接挑战。哈罗海口的每一个角落、每一个走廊、每一个教室都洋溢着青春、能量和活力。参加活动是值得赞扬的。我们举办了院舍音乐挑战赛。我们准备了两个月，我们都希望我们的院舍能赢得比赛，但更重要的是，我们作为一个社区、一个团队、一个大家庭来展开活动。这最终以令人惊叹的精彩表演来呈现。这也一定会使我们终生难忘。上周我们参加了 Colour Fun，有无数的活动需要我们一起倾力合作。每个人都为一个共同的目标勇敢且努力，没有人害怕跌倒、失败和尝试。每位同学互相帮助，互相支持，互相鼓励，互相喝彩。用智慧解决问题，并在每一个转折点表现出“互助”。成功不是终点，失败不是致命的，重要的是继续前行的勇气。现在让我们祝贺获奖的院舍，但也给自己和彼此以掌声。

到目前为止，我最喜欢的回忆之一是当我看到其他学生帮助新生适应新环境时。高年级学生给他们的同学介绍新生，向新生展示学校设施并回答他们的问题。我认为这是对”互助”最好的诠释。

哈罗非常重视勇气和荣誉，在 Harrow Ducker 期间，我想到了这两点。与去年相比，今年的比赛对我们来说更具挑战性。我记得我们院舍的一个成员很难完成整个任务。然而，当她听到院舍成员震耳欲聋的欢呼声时，她感到鼓舞并继续奔跑。我想是同学们的鼓励让她有勇气完成这个任务。

最后，我相信每一位哈罗学生都会对终身学习和领导力产生热情，这将为未来追求卓越和积极服务社区，奠定坚实的基础。我相信在未来每个哈罗人都会尽最大努力、最大限度地发挥他们的领导能力。

从哈罗的核心价值观——互助当中，我们收获了宝贵的友谊。我认为Y10就是一个例子。两年前，当我们第一次来到哈罗时，我们还很不成熟，我们对周围的人也很感到陌生。我们不敢和别人交流。但在我们大家相识之后，很快我们就成为了Y10大家庭。我们在学习和活动中都表现出良好的互助精神，建立了深厚的友谊。虽然很多学生会在毕业后离开我们去其他学校或城市，但我相信我们友谊的火焰永远不会熄灭。
