SLC at TWIS | 传统家长会过于单一?这场与众不同的家长会由学生来主持!

TWIS一直视家校沟通为学生教育的重要组成部分。集体家长会或许过于单一且无法满足家长以一对一的方式了解孩子学习状况的需求?那么,TWIS的学生主导会议(SLC)或许会给家长带来与众不同的体验。


TWIS considers the relationship between students' families and the school to be of paramount importance. Are collective parents-teacher conferences too one-dimensional and not able to satisfy the needs of parents to learn about their children's school performance one-on-one? Student-Led Conferences (SLC) at TWIS may offer a different experience for parents.


学生主导会议(简称“SLC”)是属于学生和家长之间的会议。通常,每学年结束前举办一次。学生负责主持会议,内容是与家长分享在校学习进度。举办学生主导会议的目的,在于让学生树立对学习的主人翁意识,并促进学生与家长之间的关系,加强关于学习经历和个人成长等方面的沟通,使学生发展成为独立、自信、善于沟通和反思的人。

 

Student-Led Conferences (SLC) is a meeting between students and parents wherein the students take charge of the meeting and inform their parents of their progress. It generally happens once a year near the end of the academic year. The purpose of Student-Led Conferences is for students to take ownership of their learning, and develop as independent, confident and reflective communicators, by facilitating conversations between themselves and their parents about their learning journey and individual growth.

学生是“学生主导会议”的领导者,他们需要全方位地参与会议的各个阶段,包括准备、执行和评估等阶段。其中,参与会议的深度和广度因年级而异,教师也会根据学生的能力水平进行调整。在学生与教师合作的过程中,学生可以剖析自身的优势与学习需求,并收集相关的学习足迹来验证其学习成果,随后,他们还会进行自我反思,以此建立自我评估和技能展示的标准。


Students are the key leaders of Student-Led Conferences. They are involved in all stages of the process: preparation, implementation and evaluation; the level and type of involvement differ according to year level and are scaffolded to students’ skill levels. Students are also responsible for working with the teachers to identify their strengths and needs, and collecting evidence to validate learning. They are engaged in self-reflection on the learning process, helping them to develop self-evaluation and presentation skills. 





教师:后台协调员

Teachers: Backstage Facilitators



班主任或学科教师在SLC中担任后台协调员的角色,与学生共同整理会议环境,以确保会议的顺利进行。同时,教师会教导学生一些重要事项,让学生充分地了解会议的内容,并在学生成为领导者的过程中提供必要的支持。比如,为了更具说服力地展现学习过程,学生可以用作品集来辅助演讲,因此,教师会向学生说明作品集展示文稿的基本要求。


Teachers, including classroom and specialist teachers, take the role of backstage facilitators. They organize the conference environment with the children to guarantee success. Teachers discuss with students what an ideal conference will look like, and help students prepare for each part. In preparing the Student-Led Conference in the PYP, teachers outline student portfolio requirements, and support students in preparing to use their portfolios as an aid during the Conferences. Portfolios allow students to use work samples in communicating their learning and processes during the Student-Led Conferences.  






家长:倾听者 & 学习伙伴

Parents: Listeners & Partners



当学生正在主持会议时,家长是学生的学习伙伴。家长有机会在一对一的对话中倾听和了解孩子的学习近况和成绩水平。在会议之前,教师会给予家长一些提示,从而帮助家长提出更有意义的和更为恰当的问题,毕竟,他们的孩子是这次会议对话中的主角。


Parents are partners in learning when students lead the conferences. Parents have the opportunity to focus on their child’s learning and achievement in a one-on-one conversation. Prompts are given to parents in advance of the conferences, to support them in asking meaningful and appropriate questions as their children take ownership of the conversation.  





SLC - 学生主导会议

(PYP 小学项目)



在PYP小学项目的SLC会议中,学生有20-30分钟的时间用于班级和课程科目的讨论;有10-15分钟的时间在不同的课程科目中轮流展开会议,站点以科目为分类,如下图所示:


In the PYP, the schedule allows for 20-to-30-minute conferences for homeroom subject discussions and stations and 10-to-15 minutes of conferences at each specialist station:  




SLC - 学生主导会议

(MYP 中学项目)


在MYP中学项目的SLC会议中,学生有机会展示自己制作的演示文稿(PPT)。在家长和教师的见证下,他们谈论自己的学术成就、挑战和未来改进方向。演讲结束后,家长和教师会就问题进行针对性地提问;同时,他们也会肯定学生在准备演讲的过程中所付出的努力。 


In the MYP, students present their PPT that they had put together. In the presence of their parents and a teacher, they talk about their academic successes, challenges and goals for improvement. After the presentation, parents and teachers ask clarifying questions and acknowledge the work and effort that the student has exerted in preparing the presentation. 






通过学生主导会议,TWIS旨在增强学生与家长之间的沟通,提高双方的信任度,以此共同制定目标。这是一个极佳的机会,让学生了解自身的学习状况,提高他们的组织能力和个人自信,并学会与家人分享自己的学习体验。这也是一个关于学习成就的庆典,学生和家长可以自在地为目前所取得的成就感到高兴和自豪。


Through SLCs, TWIS aims to strengthen the student and parent relationship to improve trust and set goals together. This is also an opportunity to have a glimpse of the students' learning and improve their sense of organization and confidence in speaking about their learning journey with their parents. This is also a celebration of learning where the students and parents take joy and pride in their accomplishments.
