每当一学期接近尾声时,其中一项最激动人心的活动便是CASE课外活动展示大会(ShowCASE)。在参与CASE(即创意、活动、服务、英语)课外活动期间,我们的学生不遗余力地为自己所热爱的领域付出时间和汗水,我们很高兴看到这些丰富多样的经历正在帮助他们发展成为一名卓越的IB学习者。


Here comes one of the most exciting end-of-semester events - the ShowCASE assembly. Congratulations to all students who took part in CASE (Creativity, Activities, Service and English) experiences and ShowCASE this semester! We are proud of the time and effort that students have put into their passions, and we are excited to see how these experiences have helped them develop as an IB learner.

每学期,TWIS都会为学生提供20余节CASE课外活动,而学生可以根据自己的兴趣爱好和发展方向从中作出选择。CASE项目不仅为学生提供了一个探索不同兴趣和能力的平台,还有助于学生发展一些对DP项目或日后生活都至关重要的技能,如团队合作、沟通能力和领导力。


Each semester, TWIS offers more than 20 extracurricular activities for students to choose from, depending on their interests and growth direction. Participating in CASE experiences can be incredibly beneficial for students. Not only do they provide an opportunity to explore different interests and talents, but they also help to develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership, which are essential for success in the IB Diploma Programme and in life beyond school.

在参与CASE课外活动过程中表现突出的学生则可以在CASE展示大会(ShowCASE)上获得IB学习者属性认证,这可以帮助学生看到课外活动经历和学术领域之间的关联性,以此让学生理解他们在某个特定领域所发展的技能和态度是可以如何应用到其他领域的。另外,这种方法也有助于培养学生对学习的主人翁态度,并帮助他们意识到参加CASE项目所培养的能力和态度的价值。


Students who demonstrated the IB learner profile qualities are recognized with a special CASE certificate. Recognizing student achievement in the development of the IB Learner Profile during CASE can help students to see the connections between their CASE experiences and their academic studies and to understand how the skills and attitudes they are developing in one area can be applied in others. This approach helps students to develop a sense of ownership over their learning and to see the value of the skills and attitudes they are developing through their experiences.

For example, our students who participate in a sports team are developing the attributes of being "balanced". Our young musicians and actors are developing "open-mindedness" and "inquiry" as they learn to approach and express themselves. They then need to become "risk-takers" to present their skills when they showCASE their learning. Student leaders and our school community volunteers are building on "caring" and "responsible" attributes, as they learn to serve others in their community.

This semester, in addition to presenting the awards, we have a different way of ShowCASEing our achievcements learned from the CASE compared to the past. For example, we offer exhibitions to help students showcase their self-produced works; we offer platforms for students who took part in sports clubs to showcase their learning by competing with other schools. Let's see some highlights from some CASEs!

Among the CASE options, TWIS offers the Junior Chef CASE for our PYP students and the International Cuisine CASE for MYP students.

Junior Chef is the perfect recipe for learning that baking and cooking is an enduring life skill that can be creative, artistic and sometimes magical. During the semester, our CASE leader Mr. Sebastien shared the practice of food cooking such as pancakes, muffin cake, chocolate lava cake, lasagna, cheese fondue, sandwiches and crepes with our students.

In the International Cuisine CASE, MYP students learned how to prepare and cook different cuisines around the world. For example, they have learned to cook pasta dishes from Italy, crepes from France, gourmet sandwiches from America, and so on. To showcase what they have learned, they prepared self-made food to share with the whole community.

电子科技一直是驱动音乐流派、音乐风格和音乐实践发展的力量。在音乐制作课外课程中,MYP中学生充分发展了其制作音乐的实践能力,他们运用音乐程序创造了自己的音乐作品或混音作品。在制作音乐的过程中,他们发挥着好奇心和创造力,不仅能够独立地探索音乐制作的要领,还能够与他人合作一起创造音乐。在课程结束时,学生通过学校铃声系统展示了她们所创作的音乐。点击以下音频一起来欣赏一下吧!


Digital technologies have always been a driving force behind the development of musical genres, styles, and practices. Through the Music Production CASE, MYP students developed their skills in practical music-making and generated their music works or remixes utilizing music technology applications. Students worked independently and cooperatively to explore the essentials of music production and nurtured their curiosity, developing their creative skills. At the end of the course, students showcased their self-produced original music to the whole school through our school bell system! Let's enjoy some of them!

Photography is the art of turning moments into eternity. MYP students were given the opportunity to explore their surroundings and their love for nature through the creative lens of photography. Students were able to show appreciation for the smallest of things such as raindrops, leaves, and insects when they began looking through their viewfinders and focus. It was an excellent occasion to learn to be more caring towards nature and think about the big picture in terms of global warming. Students were able to create otherwordly visuals and some even explored the option of digitally manipulating their photographs demonstrating their risk-taking attribute.

Golf is a very special sport that helps foster concentration and self-confidence while fusing physical exercise and nature. TWIS has been collaborating with organizations to provide customized golf learning programs for our students. After a semester of rigorous training and study, students went to the golf course for a closing tournament, which further strengthened their comprehension and knowledge of golf via this practical experience.

Judo is a martial art that emphasizes the use of quick movement and leverage to throw an opponent. As one of the best sports for the overall development of muscles, joint movement and skeleton strength, the techniques of Judo are generally intended to turn an opponent's force to one's own advantage rather than to oppose it directly. Our young judokas have showcased and demonstrated their progress during International Judo Day and the DG Christmas Festival.

In the Literary Circles, small groups of students gathered together to discuss a piece of literature in depth. The discussion was guided by students' responses to what they have read. During the semester, they read a lot of masterpieces together, such as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Twilight and The Five Orange Pips. They talked about events and characters in the books, the author's craft, or personal experiences related to the story.

The CASE of Fashion Illustration and Design was a creative and educational experience for our students. They used templates of figures in various poses to draw clothing designs on top, utilizing colored pencils to add color and detail to their sketches. They also drew inspiration from the natural world, using photographs of flowers, as well as their favorite characters to inform their clothing designs. The students learned valuable skills in fashion sketching and developed their own unique styles through this hands-on experience. By the end of the semester, they had created a portfolio of original fashion sketches, reflecting their creativity and artistic ability.

Pottery is the process and the products of forming vessels and other objects with clay and other ceramic materials, which are fired at high temperatures to give them a hard and durable form. During the process of getting their hands 'dirty', students perfect their understanding of different features with the touch of their hands and improve their artistic and aesthetic abilities through a repeated procedure of observation, reflection, manipulation, appreciation, re-operation and re-appreciation. During the semester, they made a variety of pottery products, which were finally displayed in the CASE exhibition.
