Established in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), World Theatre Day is a yearly celebration on March 27th. The day aims to promote theater as a means of cultural expression, increase public awareness of the importance of theater in the arts, and highlight the role that theater plays in fostering respect and harmony between people from various backgrounds and cultures. March has been designated as "Theatre in Our School Month" in honor of World Theatre Day! We observe Theatre in Our Schools Month to advocate for the inclusion of theatre education in school curricula and to increase public awareness of the value of this education. Students can gain a variety of advantages from theater education, including better communication and social skills, the development of creativity and imagination, the encouragement of critical thinking and problem-solving, and the improvement of self-confidence and self-expression.
Last week, we celebrated Drama Week for the first time at Tsinglan! Students took part in various Theatre Education activities during lunch and had the chance to compete in poster design, costume design, and script writing contests. On the World Theatre Day Mar.27th, we held drama assembly to demonstrate what we have learnt in daily drama class.
