At CBIS, our students are not only exploring the knowledge and concepts in books, but also cultivating the values and qualities of being good at observing nature, learning to live, caring for others, and having responsibilities for the organization and society.
PROTECTING THE CAMPUS
ENVIRONMENT
In the last house activity, we organized students to discuss the campus environment. Our teachers and students sat together to discuss and formulate the agreements on protecting the campus environment.
We respect others and behave in a civilized manner.
We cherish the environment and protect public property.
We appreciate murals and maintain cleanliness.
The agreement of respecting the campus environment will help build our awareness of civilization and environmental protection, cultivate good behavior and habits, and improve students' ability of self-management and self-restraint, as well as make efforts to create a positive learning community.
Today, with the rapid development of technology, we find that our students are not familiar with agriculture and crops. Therefore, our G5 teachers designed "Vegetable challenge", allowing them to recognize various common vegetables and inspire them to consciously observe the vegetable crops around us and care about healthy diet.
The first part was the "Veggie Match". The students were grouped by grade and finished the tasks. they had to match the names of the vegetables and the pictures one by one to complete the challenge.
The second part was still set up according to different grade levels with different difficulty games. The lower grades played a vegetable puzzle, where everyone increased their knowledge of vegetables through collaborative practice.
The third and fourth grade groups played the English and Chinese version of "What's in the Vegetable Garden", which not only brought back their memories of vegetables, but also deepened their knowledge of vegetables around them as they racked their brains.
The senior group played the classic game "You tell me, I guess", in which the students' descriptions were either brilliant or incoherent, cultivating their expression ability and stimulating their potential knowledge of vegetables.
In our house activities, winning or losing are not the most important thing. We permeate the awareness of learning into every activity, where students collaborate in teams in games, fully develop their learning and inquiry skills, and inspire them to think about the world around them.
