When I was a boy, my mother, pursuing her Ph.D., boarded a flight to the USA and took me along. English, a language never heard in the house, suddenly became my world. I remember starting my first day in an American classroom knowing only some thirty stray words. So many words remained unknown to me that strange polysyllabic sounds would blossom amid my teacher’s and classmates’ sentences when they spoke to me. The sound of their voices said that they belonged.

As an observant child, I was quick to seek out popular trends. By reading Marvel, I was welcomed into the Avengers vs. X-Men debate. By collecting Pokémon cards, I won countless duels with my Mewtwo. 

I shared traditional Chinese poems during the International Festival and was proud to find the largest crowd gathering before my booth. The days flew by in heartfelt laughs, and before I knew it, I fit in with a strong sense of identity from both cultures.

After four years of study in the United States, I returned to Tianjin and chose Farragut among the international schools. She was so vibrant, unique and inclusive, just what I was looking forward to.

The summer of school is the most memorable. Just schoolmate teenager, in his prime; A group of people with different ideals get together, laugh together, run together, struggle together for their aspirations, day long flying catkins light.

Looking back at the original nature class notes, these seem to have been a little immature handwriting, once full of my imagination for the future and the desire for knowledge, but also in my heart, planted the seeds of college application for biology.

On the train we call life, we are all accidents in other people's lives. In the three years of the train, some people came late, and the people on the train met each other; There were also people who stopped by and waved goodbye to the passengers. And when the real parting comes, we are sorry; Because it's a journey of a lifetime.

“My passion for biological science was ignited upon discovering the microscopic world invisible to the naked eye. The fact that miniature forms of life dominate every ecosystem and impact us on a global scale is simply fascinating. Intrigued, I began to pursue relevant knowledge. 

“Aside from taking AP biology, chemistry, and statistics, I participated in several scientific research projects and competitions, where I accomplished a proposal regarding the effect of regulation of cellular membrane cholesterol level by Statins on SARS-CoV-2, investigated the principle of IFNy to shape tumor immunogenicity, and practiced lab protocols involving bacterial growth, antibiotic resistance, and DNA extraction.

“These experiences helped me realize that biology was never restricted to textbooks. Instead, it is a subject for those passionate about learning and innovating beyond their wildest imaginations. In order to become capable of further studies and realize my ambitions, I am enthusiastic about devoting my college years to a course on biological science.”
