I’m sure you all know that SIS turns 35 this year! We continue to be a school known for academic excellence and a nurturing and warm community. Our dedicated staff and great students collaborate in an environment that promotes high achievement, personal growth, and leadership. Parental involvement is crucial to student success as it fosters a supportive learning environment, enhances academic performance, and encourages positive behaviour. Engaged parents can motivate and guide their children, bridging the gap between school and home, leading to well-rounded development and stronger school-community relationships.

The parent association is essential in creating a school community that serves as a family away from home. It builds strong, supportive networks among parents, teachers, and students, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual care. Understanding sustainability encourages innovative thinking for ecological challenges, ensuring a more sustainable and equitable world.

The leadership of two SIS educators who conducted external workshops exemplifies the immense value of peer-led professional development. By sharing their expertise and innovative practices, they not only elevate the skills of fellow educators but also enrich the broader educational community. Their initiative fosters a culture of continuous learning and collaboration, significantly enhancing education quality and benefiting students across various schools. Their impact extends far beyond their immediate classrooms.
Here are two recent examples:
Celina Mathews, EAL Learning Leader and Secondary EAL Teacher led a PeerSphere session to help others understand how to support multilingual learners in the classroom. This session supported the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) and was hosted at Harrow in Shanghai.

Dani Priambodo, our SIS MYP Co-ordinator, recently led an International Baccalaureate Category 2 workshop about Language Acquisition at Prince Alfred College in Adelaide, Australia.
