As we approach the end of term, I am amazed at how busy we still are. It was so rewarding to see our musicians perform once again, our Lion Dancers competing and our Houses pitching for a school-wide charity.  Each activity sees the students building in confidence. 

期末越来越近，但我们却依然忙碌着。看到我们的小音乐家们再次表演、舞狮队参加比赛以及各个学院对自己的公益活动进行展示，真是太有意义了。通过这些活动，我能感觉到学生们的自信心也在不断加强。

Next Friday is our first Prize Giving. This will be a special moment for the school to acknowledge the academic progress and the further acknowledgement of how our students embody the 8cs. After the ceremony, we will have a celebration event which will include a talent show. I hope you will all come and enjoy the morning with your children and the school community.

下周五将是我们的第一次学年颁奖典礼。当天，我们会对学生们一年以来的学术成果进行表彰，他们的进步也体现并呼应了学校倡导的8C品质。颁奖典礼后，我们将举行一系列庆祝活动，包括才艺表演。希望各位家长们都能出席，和孩子们共同庆祝学年的结束。

Many of you will need to purchase school uniform ready for September. You’ll be glad to hear that we have successfully negotiated with our vendors to reduce the cost and from the 1st of July the average cost per garment will be reduced by approximately 20%. Please check out their website.

Many parents have asked for summer homework. This will come to all parents in the form of a summer project called Hope Favours the Bold and will be an opportunity for all students in the years 6-9 to begin to learn how to research and develop independent learning habits. Our examination years will all be given work related to their chosen subjects.

另外，很多家长都向我们咨询暑期作业，如之前的信所说，所有 6-9 年级的学生将进行一个名为“希望垂青勇者”的暑期项目。这对他们来说将是一个学习如何进行研究以及培养独立学习习惯的机会。而10-11年级的学生会根据他们的所选科目安排暑期作业。

Some students will also find that they will receive an invitation to Language Camp. This is to help our students who need support with aspects of English language acquisition.

In partnership with Trumptech, we are excited to host Summer Tech 2022, a multi-activity week programme with various sessions involving STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Computer sciences, Creative Art, and Sports. It aims to maximise learning, adventure and fun for students aged 8 to 16 during this summer break. 

佛山霍利斯将与香港尊科公司联合举办创享艺夏2022暑期体验活动，面向8-16岁学生开放，提供包括STEM（科学、技术、工程和数学）、计算机科学、创意艺术和体育等多元学习和游戏活动，帮助学生们丰富和充实暑期时光。

In September 2022, LEH Foshan will organise two kinds of events. One is off-site residential trip, the other is on-site team-building programme.

2022年9月，佛山霍利斯计划举行两个活动，一个是校外郊游活动，一个是校内团建活动。

For the off-site residential trip, Year 7-13 students will have the opportunity to travel to Qingyuan. The trip will consist of the following activities: countryside bike ride, karst caving, kayaking and service learning project. These activities will give students a chance to explore the grand rural Chinese culture and enhance their team cohesion. 

在校外郊游活动中，7-13年级学生将会去清远参加一系列的户外活动，包括乡村自行车骑行、溶洞探险、皮划艇和服务性学习（service learning）项目。学生们将探索丰富多彩的中国乡村文化，在团队合作活动中增强他们的团队凝聚力。

For the on-site team-building programme, students can choose to participate in a program that will take place at LEH Foshan. There will be 2 days of activities, including a two-part team-building challenge, bamboo catapult building, wilderness survival, and wilderness first-aid. Students will learn outdoor and wilderness survival skills in safe, accessible environments. 

学生也可选择参加在佛山霍利斯举办的为期两天的校内团建活动，包括由两部分组成的团建活动挑战、竹制弹弓搭建、野外生存和野外急救学习。学生们将在安全、无障碍的环境下学习户外和野外生存技能。

The Y7s have just finished their unit on the Black Death. The focus this week has been on matching an alleged cause of the plague with the relevant cure. Some collaborative skills were required as pupils worked in tandem. The activity was engaging and highly rewarding for the students. They became aware of the lack of medical expertise found in the 14th Century and were amazed that people at the time blamed the disease on the positions of the planets.

7年级的学生刚刚完成了关于黑死病这一课题的学习。本周的学习重点是寻找出瘟疫原因与对应的治疗方法。由于是小组作业，因此非常考验学生的团队合作能力。学生们认真调查，分工合作，收获颇丰。在研究过程中，他们发现由于14世纪医学专业知识的缺乏，人们竟将黑死病的爆发归咎于行星的不吉祥位置。

It was an engaging experience and I trust the students will continue to immerse themselves in history!

Year 11 have completed service week. Teachers have commented on the success of the program and how well the students have worked throughout their time. They have helped younger students in class and at evening school, they have counted nails in DT, books for marketing and have put up some wonderful displays all over the school. They have worked with individual students to help them with reading and in mathematics they have helped students both with number and with shape problems.

本周11 年级的同学们进行了志愿周活动，老师们对各位同学在本次活动期间完成的工作给予了很高的评价。他们在课堂或晚自习上帮助低年级学生们、在设计与技术教室整理教学资源、帮助市场部同事整理文件书籍，以及张贴海报点缀校园。除此之外，他们还对个别学生进行阅读以及数学方面的指导，以及帮他们解决在数字与几何学习上的问题。

What a busy week the students have had. Precision and careful drawing have dominated the lessons. Y6 have been constructing mystic rose diagrams that you can see displayed in the corridor. Y10 have started to understand the need to make construction diagrams exact if they are to gain the marks in next years IGCSE exam. Mathematics and Design and Technology have worked on a joint project to make 3D constructions of solids.

本周对学生们来说是忙碌的一周，本周数学课堂的主题是精确绘图的技巧。六年级的学生们本周学习构建了神秘的玫瑰图，他们的作品都已经张贴在走廊上供大家欣赏。而十年级的学生们经过本周的学习，也意识到制作结构图对他们明年的 IGCSE 考试至关重要。近期，数学学科部门与设计与技术学科部门一起合作开展了一个联合项目，来制作3D 结构的实物。

Year 11 are preparing for A level and after 2 taster lessons are keen and ready to start. They spent some of their free time looking up the different types of graphic calculators available, choosing Texas Instrument 83 as a solid tool to help them through the statistics and pure mathematics next year.

11 年级的学生们正在为A Level做准备，经过 2 节体验课，他们已经对课程有了大概的了解。他们在空余时间对不同类型的图形计算器进行搜索，并选择了德州仪器 83 作为明年统计与数学课程的辅助工具。

The Summer Concert on Tuesday 21st June was not only a celebration of World Music Day but also a celebration of the students’ wonderful musical achievements during this first year on campus at LEH Foshan.

All students from years 6-9 took part in the concert. Thirteen students performed solos, there is a brass duo and a Baroque trio. The String Ensemble, directed from the violin by Mr Liu, gave its second performance this term. The Year 6 students have worked hard at their singing this year, and performed Solfege Samba, comfortably in two parts. The concert closed with the Commonwealth Song, ‘Sing’, composed in 2012 by Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Congratulations to students on their accompaniment on the drums and piano, respectively.

The Summer Concert provided a fitting climax to a very busy term of Music, including four concerts, some fine playing at Assemblies, and ABRSM practical and theory exams. I am extremely proud of what our young musicians have achieved this academic year, and look forward to many more concerts next year, both at LEHF and further afield.

夏季音乐会的举办为这个繁忙的学期画上一个完美的句号，四场音乐会，校外演出，以及 ABRSM 实践和理论考试。我为我们所有年轻的小音乐家们在本学年取得的成就感到非常自豪，并期待明年能在佛山霍利斯以及其他地方举办更多的音乐会。

This week Year 6 students completed their ‘Under the Sea’ art project. They explored how art can be used to communicate important messages about the environment and in particular the negative impact climate change and plastic pollution is having on our oceans.

本周6年级学生完成了他们的“海底”艺术项目。他们共同探讨了如何利用艺术来传达有关环境的重要信息，尤其是反映出气候变化和塑料污染对我们海洋的不利影响。

The focus of their work was on coral as an endangered species; coral protects our coastlines from erosion and provides homes for sea-life, but global warming is causing our coral reefs to die. At the beginning of the project students did lots of research and made observational and second-hand reference drawings and paintings of shells and coral. They learned about the elements of art, how to draw shape, form, texture and how to shade to create the illusion of three-dimensionality on a flat surface. Using watercolours and watercolour pencils they developed their colour mixing and paint application skills.

By researching and responding to artists that create awareness of coral bleaching and after their visit to the Nanfeng Kiln and Shiwan Ceramics Museum where they drew from locally made under the water themed ceramics, students designed their own sculptures.  In the Ceramics Studio they progressed to using clay hand building techniques and experimented with using relief surfaces and varied tools to make textures in the clay. They then moved onto to more advanced techniques that included modelling forms, making pinch pots, attaching, and finally glazing their work.

Year 6 enjoyed making the sculptures so much they did not want to stop. They were pleased to hear that they will get the opportunity to use clay again next academic year and will learn more advanced clay techniques.

This term students from the School Ambassador Club have contributed a lot to support various school events and exemplified the school values.  Some students have conquered nervousness and learned how to be confident hosts, while others are willing to sacrifice their weekends to support school Open Days.  Recently, they are running a project independently and making a school video! All the tasks and jobs have offered them a glance into the real-life work scenarios and it is delightful to see how much they’ve grown.

本学期校园大使俱乐部的学生为学校举办的各类活动做出了很多贡献，呈现并呼应了学校的价值观。一些学生克服紧张心理，学会了如何成为自信的主持人，而另一些学生则愿意牺牲自己的周末时间来学校做校园开放日的小帮手。最近，他们正在独立进行一个项目，拍摄并制作了一个关于学校的视频！通过一系列的小任务，学生们提前感受到步入社会工作的体验，非常高兴能够看到他们在不断成长进步。

LEHF held the First House Lion Dance Competition this Wednesday afternoon. All students from Year 6 to Year 10 took part in the event.

本周三下午，学校举行了第一届学院狮王争霸赛，6-10年级所有学生均有参加。

Before the competition, School invited the professional lion dancers to perform in front of all the students and parents. Then, our students gave an impressive performance of what they had learned in this term by using the specially designed bamboo lion heads. This show is followed by a burst of applause. 

正式比赛前，学校邀请了中联黄飞鸿狮队的教练们为各位学生和家长带来专业且精彩的舞狮展示；接下来，学生们用特制的竹筐狮头为观众们展示了平时的课堂练习成果，学生们整齐的动作赢得了阵阵掌声。

At last, the junior and senior groups both sent a representative team from each of the four houses, competing fiercely for the "Lion King". They all did their best to win house points for their houses.

最后是低年级和高年级在四个学院中各派出一队代表来参与狮王争霸赛的狮王称号，比赛相当激烈，各队代表使出了浑身解数来为学院增光；

Phoenix House and Gryphon House won the Lion King Award for their junior senior groups respectively. Congratulations to them!

凤凰 (Phoenix) 学院和狮鹫 (Gryphon) 学院分别取得了低年级以及高年级的狮王称号。祝贺他们！

Over the last three weeks, during PSHEE lessons, students have piqued their curiosity and compassion while exploring the world of charities, both locally and internationally. They then collaborated in their Houses to design a creative and thought-provoking proposal to promote their chosen charity in the hope of it becoming the official school charity.

在过去三周的PSHEE课程中，学生们怀着好奇心和同理心，探索研究本地和国际的公益组织。他们需要以学院为单位设计出一个富有创意又有深度的公益活动提案，之后我们会在四个学院的提案中选择一个作为学校的官方公益活动。

Students worked in small teams within their House, focusing on different aspects of the project, including researching potential charities, designing the presentation to be used, and producing the script for the presentation while demonstrating a commitment to the project. During the presentations, students confidently communicated the justification for choosing their charity and faced some tough questions from the panel of judges.

学生们在各自的学院里以小组形式进行合作，每个小组负责不同的部分，包括研究潜在的公益机构、选择项目汇报方式以及制作汇报的文稿。在最终汇报过程中，学生们自信地展示他们的项目成果，阐述选择该项目的理由，同时还需要巧妙应付评委小组提出的一些尖锐问题。

Still, in the end, all Houses put forward good and well-researched presentations supporting their chosen charity. The final decision will be announced during the Prize Giving Assembly, potentially with a surprise appearance from a representative of the winning charity.

最终，每个学院都出色地展示了他们选择的公益活动。最终结果将会在期末颁奖典礼上宣布，结果可能会出人意料，让我们一起期待吧！

The final set of reports for Years 6 – 10 will be published on the last day of term, Friday 1st July. These will hopefully expand on the conversations that were had at the recent Parent-Teacher Consultation meeting and provide a record of some of the achievements of each student outside of the classroom. There will be comments from subject teachers, tutors, House masters and, if appropriate, boarding staff.

Please do discuss your child’s report with her/him. It is an opportunity to reflect on the year, celebrate success and, perhaps, identify areas to focus on when they return, refreshed and invigorated in the new academic year.

This Wednesday, School welcomed the director and camera crew of the "Foreigners in Foshan" of Foshan TV again. Our students Mei and Guim are the guest performers in the third season of "Foreigners in Foshan", and they will have an exciting and fun shooting on and off campus! At the same time, thank you to all the students who cooperated with the shooting! The show is expected to be broadcast in August or September. Please stay tuned!

The plays of William Shakespeare are regarded across the world as the finest works ever created in English, and one of the pinnacles of human achievement. They are also tremendous fun.

What better reason to delve into Shakespeare’s stories, language and characters in the final week of the school year? This summer, LEHF joins the huge community of British schools who celebrate Shakespeare Week. Activities will be running in lessons across the subject spectrum all week long, kicking off with a fabulous virtual tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London – with a live link-up to the Globe’s expert educational practitioners who will bring this magical, meticulously recreated theatre to life for us, and then put students through their paces in lively workshops.
