佛山霍利斯很荣幸地宣布，我们的第一届13年级学生Scarlett已经提前收到了来自伦敦大学皇家霍洛威学院的音乐学士学位的录取通知书，该学院一直是英国音乐专业排名前十的大学之一。 

此外，Scarlett还将参加利兹大学和剑桥大学的面试。 

Scarlett 对这一消息感到兴奋，她说："皇家霍洛威学院拥有英国最好的合唱团，作为一名热爱音乐的学生，被伦敦大学皇家霍洛威学院录取，我感到无比的荣幸，很高兴我的努力得到了回报。'' 

来自英国的Scarlett 入读佛山霍利斯后，目前正在学习英国文学、西班牙语、地理和音乐。 

接下来，我们邀请Scarlett来分享她在佛山霍利斯的学习经历和校园生活，以及给12-13年级学生们的实用学习建议和技巧。 

我很喜欢佛山霍利斯，我的学习和生活能够得到适当的平衡。我和Six Form的同学被鼓励享受校园生活的同时去取得优异的成绩。Six Form的同学都十分友好热情，学校不仅仅是希望我们努力争取更好的学术成绩，也鼓励我们享受校园生活。 

我的建议是不要被动地学习。被动的学习方法，如阅读课本或标记大量的信息，通常不能帮助你的大脑记住它们。相反，我会鼓励主动学习，如制作拉环卡，测试自己或同学，或用自己的语言组织课文的摘要。

这被称作 "更聪明地学习，而不是更努力地学习"。此外，我认为考试是检验知识的最好方式。它不一定是一场完整的考试。例如，听力是我在西班牙语课程中最薄弱的部分，所以我每周都参加考试以提高听力水平。  

我的建议是尽早开始。英国大学的主要截止日期是1月中旬，而牛津剑桥的截止日期是10月15日。由于13年级可能非常繁忙，我不建议推迟申请，因为这会造成很多不必要的压力。即使你不申请牛津剑桥，我也希望你能在11月底前完成你的申请，这样你就可以在这一年的剩余时间里专注于你的学习。 

今年，我在课程表上增加了 "职业咨询"，由12-13年级主任Mrs Kirk负责。我利用这段时间，以及必要时的额外会议，完成了申请的每一步。对我来说，申请是一个相对容易的过程，因为在Mrs Kirk的帮助下，我遇到的任何困难都很快得到解决。

LEH Foshan is proud to announce that our first Year 13 student, Scarlett, has received an early university offer, a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Holloway College, University of London, which is consistently ranked amongst the top ten university for music majors in the UK. 

Scarlett will also be interviewing at the University of Leeds and Cambridge University.  

Excited by the news, Scarlett said: ''Royal Holloway College has the best choir in the UK and as an avid singer, I feel incredibly honored to have been accepted for a BA in Music at Royal Holloway, University of London and am delighted that my hard work has paid off. '' 

Scarlett is hailing from England and transferred to LEH Foshan, where she is currently studying English Literature, Spanish, Geography and Music. 

For this article, we invited Scarlett to share her study experience and campus life at LEH Foshan, as well as offer her peers in Sixth Form some practical study tips and advice on how to prepare their college applications. 

I like that at LEH Foshan I have a suitable work-to-life balance: I am amongst a friendly group of sixth formers and encouraged to have fun while also feeling motivated to achieve top grades. 

My advice would be to eliminate passive learning. Passive learning methods, such as reading textbooks or marking up large amounts of information, usually do not help your brain retain information. Instead, I would encourage active learning, such as making pull-out cards, testing yourself or your classmates, or organizing summaries of texts in your own words. 

This is called "learning smarter, not harder". In addition, I think an exam is the best way to test your knowledge. It doesn't have to be a full exam. For example, I knew that the listening div was my weakest part of the Spanish course, so I took weekly exams to improve the listening div. 

My advice would be to start early. The main deadline for UK universities is mid-January, and the deadline for Oxbridge is October 15. As Year 13 can be very busy, I wouldn't recommend delaying your application as it can cause a lot of unnecessary stress. Even if you are not applying to Oxbridge, I would expect you to complete your application by the end of November so that you can focus on your studies for the rest of the year.  

I have added 'careers advice' to my timetable this year, which is run by Mrs. Kirk, the Head of Sixth Form. I have used this time, along with additional meetings as necessary, to complete each step of the application. The application was a relatively easy process for me, as any difficulties I encountered were resolved quickly with Mrs. Kirk's help.
