Heroes in harm’s way
Hello, everyone, l’m Eason from Year ten. Today my topic is heroes in harm's way.
Unlike any other Spring Festival before, this Spring Festival is not full of excitement and people in the whole country have stayed at home for more than a month. A war without gunpowder started.
The novel coronavirus first emerged in Wuhan, Hubei Province and has spread all over the world. Since we had no experience of this new virus, tens of thousands of people died of the epidemic. More people are at risk. We are all in panic and avoid getting infected. However, there are a group of brave people who strongly stand up when the country is in trouble and do not hesitate to go to the dangerous city. They rush to the place which needs them most, leaveing their family and friends behind. They are heroes in harm’s way.
Mr. Zhong Nanshan, 84 years old, earnestly warned everyone not to go to Wuhan without special circumstances, but he himself went to the forefront of the epidemic in Wuhan. He could have avoided the dangerous virus, lived in his old age and enjoyed happy family time, but he stood up when people needed him to understand the epidemic situation on the spot and study the prevention and control plan. At the age of eighty, he has to face the mountain of work which is quite stressful even for a young man. He has been working like this since the epidemic started. Through his faithful eyes, I begin to know what responsibility is.
Here is a photo of several women doctors who cut their beautiful long hair. Look at the cut hair, do you think they will give up? Don't they love beauty? Of course they love beauty. But to save more patients from death, they are willing to do anything. From their smiling faces, I see how pure their souls are!
For those doctors and nurses, they are in the situation they’ve never met before and tried to save as many people as they can. To race against time and let the infected people recover, they work more than ten hours a day; they sleep on the floor with protective clothing; they have instant noodles instead of meals; They don’t care about the red mark on their faces; They never give up fighting! we never give up fighting!
Because of YOU--heroes in harm’s way, we will overcome the epidemic finally; we will create a new history; we will enbrace a better future!
Let us sincerely salute to YOU; let us unite to win the war without gunpowder!
Stay strong, Wuhan! Stay strong, China!
Thanks for listening!
