Midterms Analysis: Exploring Areas for Improvement

01 中考试前后对比分析

本次期中考之后,诺美学校的各学科老师对所有学生的考试结果合格率、良好率、优秀率进行了整体数据统计分析,并对比期中考试前后分数与学科总GPA,仔细解析学生的薄弱环节和潜在提升空间。

Teachers analyzed our students' pass rates and compared their Mid-term Exam scores and their total GPA to analyse where their successes and areas for improvement are.


同时,全体老师对学生进行一一评分、阶段性总结评语,并进行了年级组会议。每个年级组老师针对其负责的学生逐一分析,并根据分析情况针对性地联系家长开展详细沟通,共同制定下一阶段提升方案。

All teachers graded and commented on the students and held grade group meetings. The teachers of each grade group analyzed the students one by one before contacting their parents to communicate the results of the analysis.

教学部给到GPA相对较弱的学生家长一封信,给出英语课外课的建议。具体安排將在本学期后续根据不同学生情况陆续给出,教学部將会逐一联系相关学生和家长,旨在帮助学生达到课程学习要求。请相关同学家长予以关注。

Our AAO sent letters to parents to provide suggestions of extra English tutorials for selected students in order to ensure students can access the whole curriculum. Detailed plans are created based on different students’ situations. AAO have contacted students and parents individually.

02 下阶段整体教学部署

根据期中考试前后学生学术表现数据对比分析,教学团队针对性地展开了下半学期规划以及具体提升措施。


  1. 潜力学生:指明具体提高方向,冲刺顶尖大学。

  2. 个别学科待提升情况:安排课后辅导,完成额外任务。

  3. 整体学术相对较弱:进行学习目标确认,在圣诞假期前进行二次测试。

According to the analysis of the Mid-term Examinations, specific plans and measures for the second half of the semester are made.

  1. Some students with low scores will have an opportunity to review their learning objectives and test again using a different exam before the Christmas break.

  2. Some students with lower scores will attend after-class tutoring and complete extra tasks.

  3. Students with higher scores will be advised of areas for further improvement and be given advice for further study to prepapre for applications to the best universities.

学习是知识积累和输出的过程。在平常的学习中,我会认真听讲,积极做笔记,如果有不懂的地方,会立即提出问题。我喜欢在课堂上解决问题,因为通常在课堂上,老师会深入分析每个知识点,如果我不理解,主动提出问题。每当我们遇到重要的知识要点时,我都会习惯性地将它们记在笔记中。每一个知识点会对应一个示例,这样可以帮助我更有效地复习。

在化学课上,我用以上方法学习。值得一提的是,化学老师会给我们很多帮助。由于化学学习变得越来越复杂,即使理解了对应的概念,也很难将其应用于对应的题目当中,所以我经常在课后问老师问题。

在期中考试之前,我会问老师复习时我不知道或不清楚的知识点。老师每次都耐心地回答,并一一解释给我,直到我弄清楚为止。由于这个过程,我在期中考试中取得了不错的成绩。另外,在以后的研究中,我将这种方法应用于每个主题。

Learning is a process of knowledge accumulation and output.  In my usual study, I will listen carefully, actively take notes, and promptly ask questions if I don’t understand.  
I like to solve problems in class, because usually in class, the teacher will deeply analyze every knowledge point, and if I don’t understand, I will gain by asking.  Every time we encounter important knowledge points, I habitually write them down in notes.  A knowledge point corresponds to an example, which helps me review more effectively.  

In chemistry class, I used the above methods to learn.  It is worth mentioning that the chemistry teacher gave us a lot of help.  Since chemistry is more complicated, even if some concepts are understood, it is difficult to apply them to topics, so I often ask our teacher questions after class.  Before the mid-term exam, I would ask the teacher when I reviewed the knowledge points that I did not know or were vague.  

The teacher answered patiently every time and explained to me one by one until I figured it out. Thanks to this process, I achieved good results in the midterm exam. Also, for my future study, I will apply this method to each subject.

我刚刚加入预修微积分这节课的时候,这节课已经开始两个星期了。但是我有很多东西不懂而且上课的一些知识我也听不懂,所以我就自暴自弃,但是幸好有老师,每当我要睡觉的时候她都会把我叫起来,而且老师上课的时候特别关心我,会为我讲很多遍题目。有的时候还会给我补课在放学的时候, 而且复习前我去找老师复习老师也会细心的教我。 

考试前我会把基础知识背几遍,然后和同学一起复习,不会的题目就相互探讨,然后去问老师。感谢我的老师还有同学,我考出了一个好成绩。现在我对于这门课程的学习更有信心了。

When I first joined the pre-calculus class, it was already two weeks after school began. At the very beginning, I was confused and didn’t know much. So I started giving up and I didn’t pay enough attention to the class. But fortunately, my teacher was patient enough to notice and repeated the question and answers several times till I could finally understand. Sometimes she also asked me to stay after school and gave me extra tutorials. Before the mid-term exams, I constantly sought help from my teacher and she was always patient enough to help me review. I reviewed the basic knowledge several times and also did team-reviewing with my classmates. Thanks to my teacher and my classmates, I managed to get a good score.  Now I am more confident in learning this course.

说到NAIS,首先映入我脑海的不仅是校园的吸引力,还有学生和老师的善良。作为一名期中中间入班的新生,我有很多担心和焦虑,不知道自己是否能适应环境,是否能赶上课程。然而,当我到达时,所有这些担心都消失了。我的室友都愿意帮助我,他们都成为我的校园导游,带我参观和介绍他们的朋友给我。而且,通过与老师的互动,NAIS老师轻松愉快的性格把我带回了美国,让我感觉像是在美国真正的寄宿学校学习。

我是在期中考试前加入诺美。老师们都鼓励我尽我所能的参加期中考试。考试过后,老师们都耐心的帮助我,根据我考试的情况来明确我需要提高的地方。在这里,我感受到温暖与支持。

Talking about NAIS, the first thing that comes to my mind is not only the attractiveness of campus but also the kindness of students and staff. As a new student who joined the class in the middle of the semester, there were many worries and anxiety about whether I could get used to the environment or catch up on the curriculum. However, all these worries disappeared when I arrived.
My roommates are willing to help me, and they all became my tour guides for the campus to show me around and introduce their friends to me.  Moreover, the interaction with teachers with the NAIS teacher's lighthearted traits brings me back to the United States and makes me feel like I'm studying in a real Boarding school in America. 

I joined right before the Mid-term exam. The teachers encouraged me to try the exams first and they were all very patient in helping me to figure out areas that I need to focus on after the exams. I feel welcomed and supported.
