北辰论坛

“北辰论坛”是由我校学生会创立并运作的师生议“校园时政”平台。 “为政以德,譬如北辰,居其所而众星共之。” ——“北辰论坛”的名字由此而来。

"Beichen Forum" is a platform founded and operated by the ASB of SHBS for teachers and students to discuss "current campus policies". "One shall rule by virtue; and then he will be like Polaris, to which all other stars refer to position themselves. " Beichen means Polaris in Chinese, and that's how SHBS student union got this name for "Beichen Forum". ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

2023年2月20日下午三点，宏润博源第五届北辰论坛在礼堂顺利举行。在学生会秘书长潘同学的主持下，六位同学带着自己发现的学校发展中存在的问题以及可能的解决方案走上舞台，与全校师生共同讨论。北辰论坛旨在让同学们更多地参与到社区建设中来，通过提案，更好地建设属于同学们的校园社区。

At 3pm on Feb.20,2023, the 5th Beichen Form was successfully held at the school auditorium. Hosted by Pamela Pan,secretary general of the ASB, six students took to the stage to discuss with all the teachers and other students the problems and possible solutions they had found in the development of the school. Beichen Forum aims to get students involved in community construction more and pass proposals to build a better community that belongs to all the students.

首先上台的是学生会主席迟同学，他带来了有关改善食堂餐食的方案。民以食为天，但重口难调。学校食堂也是大家都非常关注的议题。他提议，在食堂中张贴问卷调查二维码以获得同学们对每周食堂伙⻝的建议和想法，将这些收集到的信息及时反馈给食堂的工作人员，更好地帮助学校⻝堂迎合学生的口味。

Justin Chi, president of the ASB, was the first to speak on the stage. He brought a proposal on how to improve meals served by the school cafeteria. People regard food as their prime need, but it’s difficult to cater for all tastes. Everyone values the school cafeteria. He proposed posting QR codes in the cafeteria to collect students' suggestions and ideas on the meals served every week to provide feedback to the cafeteria staff in time so as to better help them cater to students' tastes.

此外，迟同学还发出了倡议，希望同学们可以把自己不用的旧电脑捐赠给“爱传递·再生电脑教室”公益项目，让自己的旧电脑经过专业的处理流程，在山区学校里再焕发新生。

接着，黄同学代表广播站带来了有关校园广播节目的提议。她建议同学们利用广播站这个平台创办不同类型的广播节目，用声音的方式互相分享、传递兴趣，提高语言表达能力和艺术修养。节目可以分为音乐类和语言类（daily news /国际趣事/美文分享/资讯播报）每周一三五音乐分享，周二周四中英文新闻分享，分享时间为每中午的12:00到12:10。但这个提议受到了台下一些同学的提问： “声音可能会打扰到同学们的休息和聊天”……台上台下进行了问答思辨，共同完善方案。

Then, on behalf of the school radio station, Olivia Huang brought a proposal on campus radio programs. She suggested that students can use the station as a platform to create different types of radio programs, share their interests and improve their language competence. Programs may be divided into two categories, i.e. music and language (daily news/international interesting stories/beautiful articles/news broadcast). Music is shared on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and news in both Chinese and English is shared on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 12:10 at noon.However, this proposal was questioned by some students in the audience: "The sound from the radio station may disturb students while they are having a rest or a chat."...The speakers and the audience argued over the issue,working together to improve the plan.

之后，贾同学代表体育部提出了关于体育用具相关问题的讨论。他提出了三个改善议题：1）希望学校在现有的体育课（8门）的基础上增加乒乓球体育课，并在乒乓球场地安装专门收置乒乓球的框子；2）希望学校可以将健身房里现有的龙门架更换成新的三合一龙门架；3）学校网球消耗很快，原因是被同学们打落到场外灌木丛里的球没有被及时捡回来，倡议同学们一定要把掉落到场外的球及时捡回来，以防浪费。

Then, on behalf of the Sports Department, Carson Jia initiated a discussion on the issues related to sports facilities. He proposed three suggestions for improvement: 1) He suggested adding table tennis to the existing 8 PE classes, and installing a special basket to store the balls; 2) He also suggested the school replace the existing gantry frame in the gym with a new three-in-one frame; 3) Tennis balls are consumed very quickly, because the balls dropped into the bushes outside the court by the students are not retrieved in time. He suggested that students pick up the balls and take them back in time to prevent the loss of balls.

而后，郑同学上台代表学生会权益保障部带来了有关深夜自习的两项提议：1）宿舍的Wi-Fi会在晚上10:00钟宿舍熄灯时断掉，希望与宿舍相连的深夜自习室（最晚到23:00）可以有独立Wi-Fi，供有继续学习需求的同学使用。2）希望学校可以允许学生穿睡衣和拖鞋到深夜自修室自习（有老师值班），这样会更方便同学们。

Next, on behalf of the Students' Rights and Interests Protection Department, Winnie Zheng presented two proposals about late night study hall: 1) The Wi-Fi in the dormitory will be cut off when the dormitory lights are out at 10:00 p.m..She hopes that a separate wifi connection will stay on until 11 p.m. in the study hall connected with the dormitory so that those who wish to keep working may use it. 2)She also hopes that students will be allowed to wear pajamas and slippers in the late-night study hall (with teachers on duty), so that they may feel more comfortable and convenient.

之后，冯同学提出两个议题：1）冬装校服的棉服在寒冷的冬季不够保暖，里面多穿保暖衣会行动不便，建议在寒冷的天气允许同学们穿自己的衣服。 2）学生会组织活动时，经常需要去加不同同学的微信，去沟通，是否可以将学校的各种活动在Schoology教学系统上搭建一个活动提醒模块。

Then, Bruce Feng raised two issues: 1) Students do not feel warm enough wearing their uniforms in the cold winter. Wearing warm clothes inside the school uniform will make it difficult for them to move. Thus, he suggested that students should be allowed to wear their own clothes in cold weather. 2) When organizing activities, the ASB members often need to add different students on wechat so that they may talk to one another. Thus, he suggested installing an activity reminder module for various school activities on the Schoology teaching system.

最后，徐同学上台带来了两项倡议。1）毛毛乐园公益项目：校园得天独厚的生态环境适宜猫咪生活，若不对它们进行绝育，数量就会急剧增多。毛毛乐园就是师生们四年前共同创建的校园流浪猫救助组织。目前计划设计一些猫咪周边文创产品，希望可以实现这个公益项目的可持续。希望喜欢猫咪的师生可以加入猫咪救助队伍，或者参与文创产品创作，或者为猫咪们捐赠口粮和TNR费用。 2）Higher Horizon：徐同学号召高年级同学建立一个升学辅导组织，用学长和学姐的经验结合案例，帮助同学们了解申请大学的各个流程以及需要的材料，尽早开始准备。

Finally, Sean Xu presented two proposals on the stage. 1) MiaowMiaowland, a pro bono project to take care of stray cats: The unique ecological environment on campus is very agreeable to cats. If they are not neutered, their number will increase dramatically. MiaowMiaowland is a rescue organization founded by SHBS teachers and students four years ago to care for stray cats on campus. At present, it plans to design some cultural and creative products focusing on cats, hoping to achieve the sustainability of this pro bono project. He hopes that teachers and students who love cats can join the cat rescue team, or participate in the creation of creative products, or donate cat food and TNR fees for cats. 2) Higher Horizon: Sean Xu called on senior students to set up a college counseling organization, which aims to help students of lower grades understand the various steps of college application and the materials needed so that they may start preparing as soon as possible.

开放包容的环境可以让学生朝气蓬勃、充满活力、提升创新能力。让学生参与到社区建设中，无疑是给学生一个充分展示自己的平台。身教胜于言传，通过这些有意义的活动，有利于加强学生思想建设和能力建设，推动他们在校园文化建设中起到引领作用。学校也非常重视同学们的反馈和提案，也会在全校集会时间一一给予正式回复和反馈，这也是为了进一步鼓励同学们参与学校共创中来。

An open and inclusive environment enables students to be vibrant, energetic and innovative. Allowing students to participate in community development undoubtedly provides a platform for them to fully show themselves. Actions speak louder than words. These meaningful activities help  students improve on all fronts and encourage them to play a leading role in our community development. The school also attaches great importance to students' voices, and will provide formal reply and feedback during school assembly time. Our school will further encourage students to contribute their share in the development of this community.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
