Economics is an interesting subject that can be involved in every issue in the world, and it teaches students to see the world from a new angle. Given the difficulty of the subject, the process of learning requires tremendous amount of hard work, but it can also develop logical and critical thinking skills.

Official exam month is right ahead of Year 12 and 13 students. Until now, they, especially the A2 student, have discovered the A Level Economics is so much harder than that of IGCSE’s. According to Edexcel IAL syllabus, Year 12 students have finished studying the introductory contents, including demand and supply, market failure, and government interventions. Meanwhile, our Year 13 student has done with the more challenging topics, including firms’ behaviour, market structures and labour market. Generally, I am very pleased and touched to witness the progress in academic results and the insistence on many students during the past few months. 

For IGCSE Economics, the students just finished their end-of-term exam, a good opportunity to reflect their learning process. The subject is completely new to Year 10 students, and many of them found it quite difficult because it requires certain level of English understanding, analysis and application. Gladly, Year 10 students had quite a good change as a lot of them are coming early for the seats in the first and second rows. Hopefully, they can carry the correct attitude forward. In addition, Year 11 students are going to take their official exam in May next year. To have a better performance, they need to change their learning approaches in time, and put into much more efforts than they have now. IGCSE Economics is good way to build foundation to A Level Economics, and studying requires diligence all the time.
