关于“交通工具”,BMH的老师们能上出什么“花样”?| Transportation Inquiry Unit

“ 天上飞的,地上跑的,水里航行的......只要你想得到,就没有孩子们接触不到的。 


在BMH幼儿园,孩子们的课堂从不缺乏趣味,新的学习方式也层出不穷。当K2进入“交通工具”的探究单元,老师们用极富创造力的沉浸式体验,为孩子们一点点揭开交通工具的“新世界”。


逆风飞行,顺意而归


对于这个年龄的孩子们来说,在学习的过程中需要最具象的感知。在探究课程里,我们鼓励“真听、真看、真感受”,所以孩子们总是会在探险的路上。


这个探究单元以一场“说飞就飞”的BMH航空旅程拉开帷幕。孩子们拿着机票和护照,去排队检票,有序落座,感受云端风景,与空乘人员的亲切沟通。




希望那些经常在蔚蓝天空中划过的“渺小”飞机,在这节课后能在孩子们的心里留下一道痕迹。


体验了飞行,孩子们又结伴踏上了校车之旅。校车带着孩子们环绕学校附近的马路行驶,他们则开始探索观澜湖社区的风景,观察着路上来往的车辆,并在表格中标记他们所看到的卡车,货车,自行车,交通灯等不同类型的交通工具数量。



孩子们亲自见证了深圳繁荣的交通网格系统,这些经历驱使着他们思考不同运输工具类型之间的异同,也会为他们之后的学习提供更多的论点和思路。


童年的纸飞机现在就在我手里


围绕着探究单元的主题,孩子们会在探究游戏、艺术课、户外课程等时间,用各样的形式来加深对主题的了解。


艺术课上,孩子们用自己的创意将几何图形组合出他们喜欢的交通工具,飞机、汽车、船......一步步创造出了只属于他们自己的独一无二的交通工具。


他们还在了解“拓印”这一美术形式后,在吹塑纸板上画出了海洋、路面、天空,并一一对应地画出了海陆空的交通工具。




本学期的自然课程伴随着凉爽的秋风开启,孩子们则用大自然的馈赠——落叶,拼凑出了“纯天然”的交通工具,让枯黄的树叶在手中焕发新的生机。




而在自由的探究游戏时间,他们可以用颜料制作五彩缤纷的交通工具,也能亲手做出风筝、纸飞机甚至是火箭,还在他们最爱的角色扮演游戏出演了帅气的机长、礼貌的乘客和专业的服务人员。






“玩中学”不是说说而已


正如我们在介绍幼儿园英语课程的推文中所说,我们的英语教学由自然拼读、从说到写、指导阅读、口语听力这四个部分构建而成。我们的探究课程也会与英语课程有机结合,让孩子们在这一单元的学习中同步掌握关于“交通工具”的各种英语表达


自然拼读和从说到写的课程里,他们会认识各种交通工具的英语词汇。现在大家甚至可以跟他们比比赛,孩子们可能比你知道的还多哦~





指导阅读课程里,特意挑选的主题书籍让孩子们在绘本故事里徜徉,他们能在书中了解更多的交通方式,也能学会如何运用其中的英语词汇。



而在每天由孩子们主导的展示讲述环节,孩子们会运用自己所学的知识分享自己喜欢的交通工具,讲述自己乘坐交通工具的经历。在这个过程中,他们的表达能力和语言运用都能得到长足的发展。



探究课程”一直是BMH的特色课程,成熟而完整的教学体系带领着孩子们从幼儿园到小学展开不同主题的探索。在各种亲身实践中,孩子们总能愉悦地获得知识,并得到创造力的开发。


此刻,在BMH的校园内外,不仅K2的孩子们在继续他们的探险之旅,PreK到六年级的学生们也都在进行属于他们的探究实践,思想火花也在每一处尽情绽放。

Whether it's a transport that flies in the sky, travels on land or sails in the water, children can get in touch with it all.


At BMH Pre school, the children's lessons are never short of fun and new ways of learning are always on offer. When K2 entered the 'Transport' unit of inquiry, the teachers used creative and engaging experiences to open up the new world of transport for the children.

New Adventure


In our inquiry programme, we encourage children to have hands-on experiences, so they are always on an adventure.


This unit of inquiry started off with a BMH air journey. The children take their tickets and passports to queue for check-in, take their seats in an orderly manner, experience the view from the clouds and communicate with the friendly flight crew.




After experiencing flying, the children went on a school bus trip. While the bus took the children around the road near the school, they began to explore the Mission Hills community, observing the traffic and marking the number of different types of transport they saw on the table, such as trucks, vans, bicycles and traffic lights.



The students engaged in this activity brilliantly. They showed curiosity and wonder thinking about the similarities and differences between the transport types they saw. 


Creative Exploration


Based on the theme of the inquiry unit, the children use a variety of forms to deepen their understanding of the theme during inquiry play, art lessons and outdoor play.


In art class, children use their creativity to combine geometric shapes to create their favourite vehicles such as planes, cars and boats ...... Step by step, the children created their own unique transport.




This term's nature lessons started with a refreshing autumn breeze and the children created 'natural' vehicles using fallen leaves, a gift from nature, to give new life to the yellow leaves in their hands.




And during inquiry play time, they can make colourful transport with paint. They also got to make kites, paper aeroplanes and even rockets with their own hands. They also starred as handsome captains, well-mannered passengers and professional staff in their favourite role-playing game.






“Play-based Pedagogy


As mentioned in our post about the Pre school English programme, our English teaching is structured around four parts: Phonics Programme, Talk for Writing, Guided Reading, speaking and listening.  


Our inquiry programme is also integrated into the English curriculum so that children can learn a variety of English words related to 'transport' as part of this unit of study.


In the Phonics and Talk for Writing sessions, they will be introduced to English words for various types of transport. Now you can even compete with them and the children may know more than you do!





In the Guided Reading lessons, children wander through specially selected themed books in which they learn more about transport and how to use the English vocabulary.



In the daily show and tell sessions, children share their favourite means of transport and to talk about their experiences of travelling on them. In this process, their communication and language skills are developed greatly.



Inquiry is a key pedagogical approach at BMH, aiding the development of children’s critical thinking and problem solving skills. 


Not only are the K2 children continuing their adventure on the BMH campus and beyond, but students from PreK to 6th grade are also doing their own explorations, and ideas are blooming everywhere.
