SAIS Grade 2 深美二年级课程

Led by Mrs Queila and Teaching Assistant Lesley, Grade 2 is building on the foundation set in Grade 1 and Early Years. They have been studying math, social studies, science, and language arts. They also attend special subjects out of the home room such as art, Chinese, PE, and music.

深美二年级的老师是来自美国的Queila老师，同时还有丰富带班经验的中方助教老师Lesley一起帮助主导学生们二年级的学习。众所周知，二年级是建立在一年级和学前教育的基础之上。他们一直在学习数学、社会学、科学和语言艺术。他们也参加一些特殊的课程，例如艺术、语文、体育和音乐。

Classtime课堂时间

In Science, Students have enjoyed learning about Matter and its interactions. We have discussed solids, liquids, and gas and learned the difference between each of these material forms. From this learning we now understand how to classify objects based on their properties. Students spent time observing objects in the classroom and giving estimates of what they think the measurement will be. After this we then measured the objects and noted the difference. This exercise develops the student’s ability to picture in their mind values through sight or feel, allowing them to improve their abstract understanding of measurements. We then concentrated on measuring liquids, understating the concept of milliliters and taking notes of the results which were then made into a table to show our measurements.

For language arts we have spent time learning new vocabulary and writing a story with them. We practiced comparing animals and developed a compare and contrast diagram. In the morning we practice spelling of key words, and they test their skills. In the afternoon the students have story time which is a formative test of the vocabulary they learned in the morning.

Overall, Grade 2 is working on increasing vocabulary, improving spelling, becoming independent thinkers, and increasing knowledge in all subjects as they work together to form a happy and united classroom environment.
