SAIS is proud to be holding our 7th annual Terry Fox Run at the Shekou Sports Center track from 9:00-11:00 am on November 25th. ELE students will start from 9:00 am-10:00 am, and K-10th grade students from 10:00-11:00 am. In the last six years, SAIS has raised over 229,073 RMB from our Terry Fox Run fundraiser, and we have helped a total of sixteen children in need at the Shenzhen Children’s Hospital! What an unbelievable effort and for a very worthy cause! ( We love our SAIS community!!!)

The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held in numerous regions around the world in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. The purpose of the run is to raise money for cancer research. The event was founded in 1981 by Isadore Sharp, who had contacted Terry in the hospital and expressed his wishes to hold an annual run in Terry's name to raise funds for cancer research. Sharp had lost his son to cancer in 1979. Since its inception, it has raised via 'Terry Fox Foundation' over CAD $750 million. The run is informal, so participation is more important than completing any set distance.

Our goal, as a school, is to raise over 50,000 RMB for this cause. Last year we were able to raise 46,000 RMB, what a great milestone!!! This is a big goal that will require students to do some work to reach it. Donations are being accepted before and at the run. Cash and WeChat are both accepted.

深美国际学校很自豪宣布深美全校师生将于11月25日在蛇口体育中心田径场举办第七届泰瑞福克斯慈善义跑活动。ELE班学生将从9:00开始至10点结束，K-10年级学生将从10点开始至11点结束。在过去的六年里，深美国际学校举行的泰瑞福克斯义跑筹集超过22.9万元捐给深圳儿童医院帮助过16名需要帮助的癌症儿童患者！这是一个多么不可思议的努力并且是一个有意义的行动啊！

泰瑞福克斯慈善义跑是一项一年一度的非竞赛性慈善体育活动，在全世界许多地区举行，以纪念加拿大癌症活动家泰瑞·福克斯和他的希望马拉松，并为癌症研究筹集资金。1980年由于癌症截肢的泰瑞戴上右腿的义肢，开始了横穿加拿大的希望马拉松义跑，号召人们为癌症研究进行捐赠。伊莎多尔·夏普在1979年因癌症失去了儿子，他联系泰瑞，希望以泰瑞的名义每年举办一次。自成立以来，泰瑞福克斯基金会筹集了超过7.5亿加元。参与在此义跑活动的意义大于跑多少距离。

作为一个学校，我们的目标是为癌症事业筹集五万元的捐款。去年我们筹集4.6万元，多么伟大的里程碑啊！这是一个很大的目标，这需要学生们行动起来去达到这个目标。开跑前和当天都可以接受现金或微信捐款。

• Cash can be dropped into a donation box on the day of the event, or cash can be given to the official donation envelopes.

可于活动当天将现金投至现场捐款箱，或者用信封装好交给班主任老师。

We invite all of our parents to join their students in taking part in the run or as joining as a spectator. We also need parent volunteers on the day of the run. We plan to have a booth run by parent volunteers. If you can’t volunteer your time you can still donate items to the booth for sale or give them away on the day of the run. Last year we had parents donate books, cookies, etc. Here we would like to thank you, the parents, who sponsor this event in advance.

届时邀请所有家长来和孩子们一同参与义跑，或者在旁边为孩子们加油。我们也召集当天协助活动的家长志愿者。学校计划当天开设一个由家长组织的义卖展位。您也可以提前或当天带一些物品到义卖展位捐赠义卖，比如书籍、饼干等。在此，我们先提前感谢热心家长对活动的赞助捐赠。

All the money received will be donated to Shenzhen Children’s Hospital.

收到的所有捐款，我们将全数捐于深圳市儿童医院用于帮助癌症患儿。

This year, we will ask all SAIS students to dress in their House T-shirts during the run. The house that completes the most laps per runner will get 50 house points, 2nd place 30 house points, 3rd place 20 house points, and 4th place 10 house points. So come along and cheer on your favorite House!

今年，我们期望在活动当天深美学生们在义跑时能穿上各自的学院T恤，每位完成圈数最多的学生将为他的学院赢得50分，第二名30分，第三名20分，第四名10分。来为你最喜欢的学院加油吧！
