Well, welcome everybody.Thank you for having me here today.

I feel very humble being amongst all these distinguished speakers, and I also notice I’m the only woman, so it, it makes me a bit unique, I think.

I would like to say that today, even though my speech is our vision, our staff, it goes way beyond that.I've just used that as a tool to talk about things that basically every single other person has talked about.But I'd like to give a little bit of a different spin on it.

Green Oasis was formed in 2001, but at the start of August 2020, we restructured, and just so for people that may not know, that we are now a primary school on one campus and a middle school on another campus, and that's where we stop.

So we don't actually go on to senior education, but I think that pretty much talks about leads into this.

And that is our vision.

Our vision is unique to our school, but it's not unique to education.
And if you are looking for a good school for your children, I think you should be looking for a school that has a vision that incorporates these things.

如果您正在为您的孩子寻找一所好学校，我认为您应该寻找一所愿景里包含这几个方面的学校。
And again, what I'm going to talk about is exactly what everybody else has been talking about.Our first one, Educate, well, most people might say, well, that's what education is about.

It's about education.But it goes beyond just educating in the academic sense.

And it's important to find a school that is holistic in the way they educate your child, not just in a formal curriculum, but it educates your child for life.

And a huge part of that is not necessary the grades they get at the end and again, I think how speakers have been talking about this, I think one of our speakers talked about what can you remember at school?

And I don't know about you, but for me, it wasn't the math's lesson or the English lesson.It was all the value-added stuff.It was everything else we did.It was the drama, that was the sports.It was the music, it was the choir.

And so when we educate a child, we're not educating them just to get into a top university.

We're educating them to be good people, to have fulfilling lives.And one of the things that I think is important for school is for children to be happy.

In the morning, I stand out the front of the primary school and I welcome all my children, and when the little ones come upstairs, I say, how are you?

And they so, happy.

And to me, that's made my day.That's I'm done.Because it means they want to be there.

It means that what we're doing and what other schools are doing is right for them.

And believe me, not all schools are the correct fit for your child, and if they are happy at this school, that is 90% of it.

And so when we educate our children, we want all of them to be successful.And it means that it's not just about those grades at the end.

Different children will develop at different stages, but it's ensuring that we are enabling them to have the skills to be able to find their way.

It's not about facts, it's about skills.

And people often talk to me, you know, what is the difference between what happens at Green Oasis and what happens at other schools?

There's probably not a great range of difference.But one of the things that we do focus on is making sure the children have got the skills to succeed.

Nurture.

It's interesting, when I talk to parents, many of them say, we like that in your vision.

And again, it's nothing new, but it's about ensuring that children do feel safe, they do feel as if they can take risks, they do feel supported.

And that's where our staff come in. You'll find all of the schools here today will have a pastoral team.They will have a team of people there to support and nurture your children.

And one of the wonderful things about having a middle school now, again, it has been mentioned before, is the fact that middle school students, it's a, it's a hard time.

They need their moms and dads.And they need support.

And we ensure that we have a structure to nurture there to nurture not just our little ones, but our middle ones as well.

And if you think about education, it is, it, again, it's a three word: students, teachers, parents.And those three have to work in harmony.And that's we’re there nurturing, we've got all work together.

And our final one is Inspire Excellence.Excellence isn't the important word there.It's the Inspiring.

It's interesting because people have been talking about, what do education, you know, universities want?I always say to parents, they don't want heads on a stick.They want the complete child.

And we want our children, and again, I'm sure everybody else here as well, wants the children to be inspired, to be successful, to strive for excellence, not because they're being, sort of, told they have to get A stars to get into whatever.
我们希望我们的孩子，而且我相信这里的其他所有人也希望孩子们受到启发，获得成功，力争卓越，而不是去告诉他们必须能够成为某个领域的明星。
We want our children to want to do that.And the way we do it, and again, it's not unique, is to ensure that they have different opportunities, because different children learn in different ways.

And we ensure, as we teach our curriculum, that children have the opportunities to work in groups and discuss and do presentations.They have opportunities to write essays or brochures or present their work in a different way.It's not just there's an exam at the end.

Because not everybody does exams at the end well doesn't mean that they're not a wonderful student.It's just that's not how they learn.

And so when you're looking at education, it's not just about the end product.The journey is what is important.And so for us, we live our vision, and our staff do as well.

I was talking to a young lad who wasn't doing very well, and I said to him, you know, this one subject you've, you've passed, you've done well and why?And his answer is because I like the teacher.

I said, would you like the subject?
我说，你喜欢这门课吗？
No. But I like the teacher. And teachers do make a difference.

And he, something about that teacher was able to connect to this child, and he wanted to do it.He was inspired to do it.

When you're looking at education, you all want your children to be happy, and you’ve all got that goal that you want them to get to.

My question would be to you, is that the goal they want?

Because they're the ones that will eventually have to live their lives?

And one of our teachers started off her life being an accountant, because that's what her parents wanted her to do, but she really wanted to be a teacher, and she finally convinced them that maybe she should switch from accountancy to education, and she's now been an educator for over 35 years, and is still as passionate as the day she started.
我们的一位老师一开始是做会计的，因为这是她父母希望她做的，但她真的很想成为一名老师，她最终说服了父母也许她应该辞去会计工作而转做教师，她现在从事教育工作超过 35 年了，仍然像她刚开始时做老师一样充满热情。
So think about that with your child, talk to your child, it is a triangle.It's not just about schools getting them there.And remember, it's not just a head on a stick.It's also that complete package, and that's what is important.
