在丽林维育礼雅（以下简称VPA），我们高度重视阅读。
我们为学生的语言学习提供多元的支持，学生根据教师提供的策略开展自己的学习。学生可以在阅读工作坊、写作工作坊、识字练习、朗读故事、分享阅读、互动写作、分享写作中，找寻自己最舒适的最高效的语言学习方法。

VPA总校长孔美琪博士邀请大家一同加入DEAR时间，领略阅读的乐趣：
在香港姊妹校沪江维多利亚，有一项延续了十多年的传统：每天我们都会有DEAR时间，从老师到学生，校长到清洁工，每个人都drop everything and read（放下手头的事情阅读）。我们在丽林维育礼雅的每一个角落都将准备阅读角，方便师生随时随地加入DEAR。
VPA中方校长、全国推动读书十大人物（2006）、广东优秀点灯人（2018）袁晓峰老师经常同家长、孩子们分享阅读的力量：
阅读点亮梦想。孩子天生就是带着梦想来到这个世界的。那么，父母怎么做孩子梦想的守护者激发者而不是毁灭者。经常这样宏大而复杂的问题，就在你和孩子一起阅读绘本时悄然解决了。

上个月的校园开放日，许多家长和孩子对我们的“立体图书馆”印象深刻。
图书馆采用错层的设计，占用三层空间，基于智慧图书馆前沿概念打造的，配有rfid图书芯片，人脸识别系统、自助借还书机等设备。
图书馆老师王任瑜介绍：整个图书馆大约有350个书格，全部加起来大约有230米长，随着我们购入的图书日渐增多，等待满额运转那天，所有的书垒起来起来大约有10层楼高。目前，已到馆图书约1万册，中文图书约6000多册，英文图书约3000多册，我们人均藏书量远高于国家25册/人的标准。
图书馆不仅是阅读空间，也是孩子们交流互动的天地。二楼设计靠窗阅览区，为孩子读书交流提供方便；玻璃书格内，将展示孩子们票选以及图书馆老师推荐的当月好书；小组讨论区域，将方便师生开展阅读工作坊活动、共同创作书籍；顶天立地的书柜，也会用于孩子们的活动作品成果或者出版物的展示。
参观过图书馆的家长、孩子们，纷纷表示想要提前在我们的图书馆徜徉书海。
好消息！为了满足大家的借阅需求，我们的图书馆面向预约探校的家庭开放借阅。
同时，我们的教师团队整理了一份针对不同年龄孩子的暑期阅读书单。以下书单的全部书籍，都是我们的教师一本本认真遴选出的优质书籍，不用再发愁给孩子选书啦。
【幼升小】
《好忙的小跑腿》《麻烦你跑个腿！小跑腿》
类型：绘本
适合年龄：4+
推荐理由：故事与游戏相结合，锻炼孩子的故事力、专注力、逻辑力等多种能力。
《动物妙想国》
类型：科普认知绘本
适合年龄：3+
推荐理由：充满想象力的趣味的科普图画书，将动物拟人化，把一个个脑洞大开的问题和动物知识巧妙联系在一起，让孩子在哈哈大笑中了解动物知识。
《小老鼠又上灯台喽》
类型：图画书
适合年龄：3+
推荐理由：在传统儿歌的基础上，围绕“阅读”这个主题进行了全新创作，读起来朗朗上口，好玩风趣，绘图色彩鲜明、稚气脱俗，充满了节奏感和电影的动感。
Title: Be a Maker
Category: Picture book
Recommended ages: 4+ years
Intro: This wonderful picture book inspires children and adults to get making and solving problems! The questions posed throughout will prompt you to express yourself and make things in a variety of ways! This is a picture book that I read to children to get them excited about creative opportunities!
Title: What Do You Do With an Idea?
Category: Picture book
Recommended ages: 4+ years
Intro: Children and adults alike have ideas every day - both big and small. But what do we do with them? Often, nothing. This book encourages us to grow in confidence, nurture ideas that have potential and use them to make a difference. The world needs our ideas so it’s important that we know what to do with them!
Title: Questioneers series
Category: Picture books
Recommended ages: 5+ years
Intro: This series by Andrea Beaty motivate students to explore STEAM fields and opportunities. The characters include Iggy Peck, Architect and Rosie Revere, Engineer (and many others). Like the characters, children are inspired to work hard and excel in these creative disciplines (including girls who are underrepresented in STEAM careers).
【小学】
《太爷爷调工作》
类型：图画书
适合年龄：6+
推荐理由：这是一个充满爱的故事，能让孩子们思考如何关爱老人，让人生的每一个阶段都能有尊严的、有滋味的活着，也是呼吁对失智老人的关注。
《纳尼亚传奇：狮子、女巫和魔衣柜》
类型：经典桥梁书/绘本
适合年龄：7+
推荐理由：是《纳尼亚传奇：狮子、女巫和魔衣柜》的桥梁书版，图文并茂、循循善诱地让初次接触奇幻文学的孩子吹响自己的号角，挺进自己的幻想王国。
《平安小猪》
类型：儿童文学
适合年龄：8+
推荐理由：世上的魔法千千万，《哈利·波特》是一种，《平安小猪》是另一种。在这里，伟大的、生死与共的爱，会激发孩子所有的能量、智慧和勇敢。这个激发的过程就是成长。
《少年大侦探·福尔摩斯探案笔记（6册）》
类型：游戏益智
适合年龄：6+
推荐理由：让孩子化身大侦探，跟着福尔摩斯破解400多个谜题，寻找真相。进阶式的内容难度，适合小学不同年级的孩子阅读，帮助孩子锁定线索，锻炼手眼配合能力，开发大脑，训练逻辑思维，培养专注力。
《珠穆朗玛峰上的巧克力味道如何？》
类型：科普读物
适合年龄：7+
推荐理由：
让孩子用自己的视觉、听觉、嗅觉、味觉、触觉，五感一体，去感受，去发现，去探索，用自己的脚步丈量世界。
Title: Wonder
Category: Children’s realistic fiction
Recommended ages: 9+ years
Intro: Wonder tells the story of Auggie, a boy born with severe facial differences. It outlines his struggles going to school and the unfortunate experiences that he has with other students. Despite his challenges, Auggie is fun, kind and heroic! It is cleverly written from the perspectives of different characters, so you learn to empathise with everyone. In fact, at one point in the story, it made me cry. That’s how powerful the writing is!
Title: A to Z Mysteries series
Category: Children’s mystery fiction
Recommended ages: 7+ years
Intro: One of my favourite book genres is mystery because of how the stories hook me and keep me guessing! The stories in the A to Z Mysteries series are brilliant for young readers. You will want to keep reading so that you can get closer and closer to solving the mysteries! For example, the first book in the series is Absent Author. I read it to my students in Hong Kong and they loved it so much that many of them bought the rest of the series!
Title: Paddington
Category: Classic children’s fiction
Recommended ages: 7+ years
Intro: Paddington is one of my favourite characters in all of literature! He is kind and innocent, and needs to adapt to life in London. The story is about his mishaps, his relationship with the Brown family and his love for marmalade sandwiches! You will enjoy all of Paddington’s adventures in susequent books but I suggest starting with the original. It is utterly charming and heart-warming!
Title: Boy Overboard
Category: Children’s realistic fiction
Recommended ages: 9+ years
Intro: This story explores serious issues like forced migration and gender inequality through the perspective of likeable characters who love football! While the events are serious (and even life-threatening at times), the book is surpringly funny! I love this book because it teaches us about different cultures and social issues, yet the family’s wants and needs are totally relatable. Especially if you love football, you will enjoy this book!
Title: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Category: Children’s fantasy fiction
Recommended ages: 7+ years
Intro: As a child, this is the book that made me love reading! This story about Charlie, his golden ticket and the magical factory will capture your imagination! It also teaches us about what truly matters - and Charlie is ultimately rewarded for his attitide and good character! The lesser-known sequel, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, is also great fun! I highly recommend them both!
