Timeline of The Human Condition

上周九年级和十年级的学生，在Social Studies的课堂上向学校的同学和老师展示了他们的项目成果。这一次的展览是关于人类境况时间表，其中包括以下几个内容：

Last week, ninth and tenth graders showed their projects to classmates and teachers in Social Studies class. This time the exhibition is about the human condition timeline, including the following contents：

Q：Social Studies 是一门什么样的课呢？

Luna：我认为Social Studies是一门结合历史知识和实践活动的学科。因为这个课题的项目是团队协作完成的，需要我们自己亲手创造。这样一来，不仅能让我们学到了很多知识，也锻炼了我们的动手能力、组织能力和表达能力。

Q：What kind of course is social studies?

Luna：I think social studies is a subject that combine historical knowledge and practical activities. Then because this subject’s project is made by teamwork and collaboration, and it need to create with our own hands. In so doing, it not only makes us learn a lot of knowledge, but also practices our hands on ability, organization and expression ability.

Q：这次的展览的主题是什么呢，为什么选这个主题呢？

Luna：我们的主题是人类境况的时间线。是因为我们学习了人类的史前史。时间线可以帮助我们能总结学到的知识，甚至学习新的东西。

Q：What is the topic for this exhibition? Why did you choose this topic?

Luna：The topic is the timeline of the human condition. That is because we learned about prehistory of human. And a timeline can help us organize the learned knowledge, even learn something new.

Q：关于这次的主题，你们完成作业的思路是什么样的呢？

Luna：首先，创建一个时间轴，并找到一个合适的示例。然后，总结人类境况的一些重要事件写下来。之后，我们需要加上一些绘画和进行最后的检查。此外，在这个过程中，每个组员都需要写一篇关于它的文章，在整个过程中，我们之间会有很多沟通，及时的沟通可以帮助我们了解团队内每个人的想法。

Q：What are your thoughts on this topic?

Luna：First, create a timeline and find a suitable scale. Second, sum up some important events of the human condition. Then, write these down with the correct scale. After that, we need to add some painting and have an examination. Finally, check it again and finish. In addition, in the process, each person needs to write an essay about it, and we should have lots of communication that can help us know everybody’s thoughts.

Q：为什么你们觉得这些时间/事件节点很重要？

Luna：因为这些事件改变了人们的生活，它对历史学家了解过去非常有用，或者对世界有巨大的影响。如尼安德特人第一次使用火，尼安德特人最早的洞穴绘画系统，人们开始使用农业。这些实例非常有意义。

Q：Why do you think these time/event nodes are important?

Luna：Because these events have changed people's life, it has very useful for historians to understand the past, or it has a huge effect to the world. Such as the first time Neanderthals used fire, the earliest system of cave painting by Neanderthals, people started to use agriculture. These instances are very meaningful.

Q：从这次的作业中你们学到了什么/有什么感想？

Luna：在这个项目中，我们学习了关于人类史前史的知识，并且锻炼了自己很多。例如，它教会我们如何向别人介绍一些东西，对我来说，我真的很喜欢这一部分，它帮助我梳理知识，当我在网上搜索一些信息时，我能了解到很多课本上学不到的知识。至于其他的，当我把我们的成果介绍给别人的时候，它锻炼了我的英语，语言组织能力，提高了我的勇气。如果以后有更多类似的活动，我想我不会害怕在很多人面前讲话。这个本领对未来的学习和生活非常重要。

Q：What did you learn/what do you think from this project?

Luna：In this project, I learned about prehistory of human, and practice many kinds of skills. For example, it taught us how to introduce something to others. For me, I really like this project. It helped me to organize the knowledge, and when I search some information online, I learn more about it. For the rest, when I introduced it to other people, it practiced my English, language organizational ability and improved my courage. If things go on like this, I think I won’t be afraid to speak in front of many people. This skill is very important.

Q：你觉得social studies这门课对你们将来的学习有什么好处呢

Luna：Social Studies这门课可以帮助我们了解历史，提高我们的团队合作、沟通和组织能力。所以，它不仅可以帮助我们学习历史，也有利于我们团队合作的里，我们会变得善于讨论和沟通，并有一个良好的语言组织能力。

Q：What do you think the course of social studies will benefit you in your future studies?

Luna：Social studies can help us to learn about history and improve our teamwork, communication, and organization ability. So, for study, it can help us to learn history, for teamwork or some conversation, we will good at discussing and have a nice language organizational ability.

Q：你有什么想对觉得social studies这门课很难的同学说的呢？

Luna：说实话，历史是一门很难的学科，但是如果你能下定决心，你就会学得很好。历史真的非常有趣。此外，不要害怕说话，就像我们这次的展览，当有人来看我们的海报时，我们只需要自信地把我们的成果介绍给他们，回答他们的问题，就是一次很好的展示。最后，一定要坚持努力，总有一天你不会害怕在别人面前说话。就像耐克的口号一样，做就对了！

Q：What would you like to say to your classmates who find social studies difficult?

Luna：To be honest, history is hard to understand. But if you set your heart on it, you will learn it well. History is very interesting. Moreover, don’t be afraid to speak, like our exhibition this time, when somebody comes to your, just introduce it to them and answer their question. Keep trying, one day you won’t afraid to speak in front of people. Like Nike’s slogan, just do it!
