The results of CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) A-Level and IGCSE Examination for May-June 2023 were released as scheduled. It’s shown that the number of students achieving the highest score in A-Level exams has decreased by 100,000, and the percentage of A* grade has dropped from 14.6% to 7.8%. 

2023年5-6月CAIE剑桥A-Level和IGCSE考试成绩如期公布。数据显示，今年A-Level最高分学生人数减少10万，A*的占比从14.6%下降到7.8%。

Students from Shenzhen Hualang International Academy (SHIA) achieved excellent results in their first year of participation. The ratio of A&A* in all subjects reached 55%, and B and above was 85%. Among them, 6 students achieved outstanding scores of 90 or more in Chinese, as well as 7 students in Mathematics, 5 students in Economics, 3 students in Chemistry and Physics respectively, and 1 student each in Biology and Computer Science.

IGCSE Curriculum in SHIA includes language subjects (English as a first or second language, Chinese as a first or second language, Spanish), mathematics subjects (Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, AS Mathematics), science subjects (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), humanities and social sciences subjects (Economics, Geography, Global Perspectives), and professional and creative subjects (Computer Science, Art and Design, Music). Anja:

My favorite subject at Hualang International Academy is Sports and Biology. I like sports because I can do some healthy exercises while having fun with my classmates, and that enhances my friendship with my classmates through interaction.I never thought that I would love Biology as much as I do now, because I started studying Biology only since year two of IGCSE, and that made me realize that if you really like something, it’s never too late to start. Although there are still many challenges in this subject, the study of living organism fascinates me.

在华朗国际课程中，我最感兴趣的科目是体育和生物。体育之所以吸引我，是因为课堂中老师组织举行丰富多彩的互动游戏，让我和同学们在互动中增进友谊。

在进入华朗国际课程前，我从未想过我会像现在这样热爱生物学科，我只是从IGCSE的第二年开始接触学习生物，这让我意识到，如果你真的喜欢，那么开始为之努力，永远不会太晚。尽管这个科目还有很多挑战，但是生物体的研究让我着迷。

A deep impression of Hualang International Academy for me is the studying environment that it create for all my fellow classmates, I really like that. For example, at evening study, all students work diligently on their study. We can ask each other questions and teach each other, we all work hard towards our dream, and that motivates me.

华朗国际课程给我留下了深刻的印象是为同学们创造了专业的学习环境。我非常享受在晚自习时，所有的学生都非常努力和认真地自觉学习的优秀氛围，我们互相提问和互相教导，大家都为实现自己的梦想而努力奋斗。

请给即将入学的学弟学妹们一点建议吧

Anja:

English is the bridge for communication in SHIA. You can improve your English by adding small amounts of English into your daily life. You can watch English TV series, read English books, set your phone language to English, and look at English content on social media (e.g Instagram). I don’t suggest you to get up every morning to memorize vocabularies because that’s the hard way. English will become so much easier if you can add this foreign language into activities which you like and do every day. 

P.S: a non-academic tip is that you should at least spend 1 hour on something you like every day! That will color up your school life, relieve your pressure and by this way you can meet a lot of new friends.

英语是课程沟通的桥梁，想要提高英语沟通能力的话，我有一个小秘诀。你可以通过将少量的英语融入到日常生活中来提高你的英语水平；你可以看英语电视剧，读英语书籍，将手机语言设置为英语，浏览社交媒体上的英语内容（例如Instagram）。我不建议你每天早上起来背单词，因为那是一种较为艰难的方式。如果你能将这门外语融入到你喜欢并每天都会做的生活中，英语将会变得更加容易。

PS：我的一个非学术的建议，你每天至少要花1个小时做你喜欢的事情！这将给你的校园生活增添色彩，缓解你的压力，并且你还可以结识更多新朋友。

The IGCSE Examination is only an external reference, but the more importantly, it reflect the high standards and strict requirements of the students from SHIA. It provides a platform where students could constantly challenge and improve themselves, fostering their overall qualities and abilities.
