What do you love about your job at HL International Academy?

HL International Academy is a great place to work. We have a wonderful campus with modern facilities. The staff is professional and competent. The best part is the students. They are really well-mannered and have a good attitude towards learning. I love that they’re still little kids, and that part of my job involves getting them ready for life after high school where things won’t be the same as they ever have been. I like being able to talk about their future when it’s right around the corner.

华朗是一个非常棒的工作地点，这是一个现代化的完美校园。这里的教职员工都十分专业和优秀，最出色的部分要数这里在读的学生。他们是一群非常知书达理且有着良好学习态度的孩子。我爱这群少年们，我工作的一部分就是要帮助他们为离开中学、步入人生新阶段做好准备，我很愿意在这样一个转折点参与到他们对未来的探索中。

What do you enjoy most about your teaching subject?  

请问您最喜欢您所教学科的什么方面？

Daniel

Well, Mathematics is a unique subject that requires the students to deduce most of the conclusions or formulas, students won’t spend too much time remembering all the theories, they need to focus on working out different ways to solve mathematical problems. It is a subject of deduction and logical thinking. And I really like the feeling to solve difficult problems or guide my students to solve them, it makes me feel proud.

数学是一门独特的学科，需要学生推导出大部分的结论或公式，学生不会花太多的时间去记忆所有的理论，他们需要专注于想出不同的方法来解决数学问题。它是一门需要推理和逻辑思维的学科。并且，我非常喜欢解出数学难题或指导学生解出难题的感觉，让我很有成就感。

Chemistry is fun. Chemistry is all around us, and understanding chemical processes takes us one step closer to understanding the world. Personally, I believe that Chemistry is for everyone in some way and studying it will develop you as a person as well as a scientist.

化学是有趣的。化学无处不在，了解化学过程能让我们更进一步地了解世界。就我个人而言，我相信化学在某种程度上适合每个人，学习它将使你成为一个更好的人或一个更好的科学家。

Most of all, I like that the school allows me to create drama projects together with my students. This year we have successfully held such events, like improvisational show, Christmas performance, an evening of parodies, drama performance for parents, etc. I like to look at the results of the completed activities as well as to give a great mood to the grateful audience of our academy.

我很享受在学校里和学生们一起创作戏剧项目，今年我们成功举办了很多戏剧活动，比如即兴表演、圣诞节演出、模仿之夜、家长专场等等。我很欣慰能够组织这些戏剧活动并将最好的一面展现给我们最好的观众。

Do you have any advice for students who want to study the subjects they learn now at university and pursue related careers in the future? 

对于那些想在大学学习现阶段相关学科，并在未来从事相关职业的学生，您有什么建议吗? 

Daniel

Well, first of all, great choices, Science is the future. However, it is definitely not a easy way, actually, the contents in math and physics we are learning in high school are just very fundamental things, once you guys chose such major in your future University, you would notice the challenge, if you are really interested in such fields, you need to take some early actions to be prepared for the higher level contents in your major. Use your spare time to pre-study the Math or Physics topics in your undergraduate courses, visit the college during the long vacation and get to know about the details of different branches in Math or Physics. And that is my suggestion.

首先，数学和物理方向都是很好的选择，毕竟科学就是未来。但是，这绝对不是一件容易的事情，其实我们在高中学习的数学和物理的内容都是非常基础的东西，一旦你们在未来的大学选择了这样的专业，你们就会注意到其中的挑战，如果你真的对这样的领域感兴趣，你需要提前采取一些行动，为你学习更高层次的内容做准备。比如说利用你的空闲时间提前学习你本科课程中的数学或物理的相关话题，在长假期间访问一些大学，了解数学或物理不同分支的细节，这就是我的建议。

The main advice that I will give to students is to do what you really like and the result will not take long. Of course, acting skills will give a certain advantage during the university entrance campaign.  Most universities are looking for gifted students who not only study well, but are also passionate about some kind of art or sports. Theaters at universities are a fairly common practice and it is considered a big bonus if you have an understanding of how to play on stage. This is a direct opportunity to get your first theatrical or cinematic role at a professional level.

我给学生的主要建议是做你真正喜欢的事情，这会帮助你更快地有所收获。表演能力在升学中占有明显的优势，大学欢迎优秀的综合性学生，他们不仅学习好，而且对艺术或体育技能也充满热情。在大学里，戏剧表演是相当流行与普遍的，如果你能够在舞台上呈现出相当优秀的表演，将会为你赢得难得的机会。这将是助你获得第一个专业水准的戏剧或电影角色的直接机会。

The HL International Academy has achieved great success in different competitions this year. How did you plan the teaching so successfully in the school extra curriculum activity?

This academic year has been really great. The International Academy students have achieved remarkable success in their academics as well as co-curricular programs. There is no better feeling than seeing your student achieving success in their life and being rewarded for their hard work.

这个学年真的很棒。国际体系的学生在学业和课外活动上都取得了优异的成绩。没有什么是比看到你的学生通过努力收获回报、取得成功更值得高兴的了。

Co-curricular activities are essential in a school curriculum as they help in the holistic development of students. They help in the development of critical life skills and abilities that are required for a successful and happy life. Therefore, the importance of such activities is immense during school and college education. From the beginning of the very first semester, I tried to get reflections from the students about their experiences and interests. I have noticed the students had strong academic backgrounds and interests in different ECA clubs. I was able to support them in Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, World Scholars Cup, and Subject Olympiads. Of course, Support from the Principal has been essential. I am sure the students will keep their enthusiasm in the right direction and HL International Academy will Achieve great success.

课外活动在学校课程中是必不可少的，因为它们有助于学生的全面发展。课外活动帮助学生发展必需的生活技能，这些技能也是通往成功与幸福的关键。因此，在中学及大学教育中，课外活动的重要性是巨大的。从第一学期开始，我就尝试研究学生们的学习经验与兴趣取向，我注意到这些学生都有很强的学术背景，同时他们对不同的ECA俱乐部也有兴趣，因此我才能够在模拟联合国、爱丁堡公爵国际奖、世界学者杯和学科奥林匹克竞赛中因地制宜地支持他们。当然，校长对我们的支持更是必不可少的。我相信同学们的热情会一直保持在积极的方向上，华朗国际课程体系一定会取得卓越的成就。
