今天,我们特别邀请青苗顺义校区IBDP协调员——阮玲老师,为我们从宏观角度解读:IB DP的最大特色是什么?IB DP是如何确保学生全面发展的?IB DP是如何考试的?

【Editor’s Note】:

To help many parents better understand IB, we have launched the BIBS IB Mini Class program with our IB coordinators. Today let’s meet Ms. Ruan from the BIBS Shunyi Campus and discuss what IBDP features, how does IBDP help with students’ holistic development and how IB examinations are conducted.

 

IBDP, being today’s most widely accepted by world top universities, is the integrity of the IB learner-focused learning process and the problem-solving abilities starting from PYP.

我是阮玲,来自中国北京。我硕士毕业于爱丁堡大学。我相信教育不仅仅是关乎学科知识的传授,更应该是帮助我们的孩子成为未来的世界的主人,有独立的思考的能力以及独特的人格特质。我希望孩子们不仅可以成为知识渊博的人,同时能够发现和提出有价值的问题,并且经过信息的整合与分析,给出有见地的结论及延申。我作为一名教师,本职工作就是去发现孩子们的特点和天赋,为他们的成长提供恰当的支持、鼓励和启发。

I am Ling Ruan and I am from Beijing, China. I received my master degree in Edinburgh University. I believe that education is not only about delivering subject knowledge, but more about helping the kids become future talents and elites with independent thoughts and personalities. I hope that our kids will be knowledgeable, and at the same time, they are able to raise meaningful questions, search and justify information and evidences, analyze the problem and show possible developments. My mission as a teacher is to discover the personality and talents of the kids, and provide suitable supports, encouragement and inspirations to them.

知识理论(Theory of Knowledge,简称 TOK)


是一门发展批判性思维能力的课程,在不同学术科目间架构桥梁,探索知识的本质。该课程着眼于“我们是如何知道的?”“什么可以作为证据?”“在现实世界中,某理论意味着什么?”等一系列问题不仅帮助学生获得知识,同时能倾听并与他人分享自己的观点,形成批判性思维。

拓展论文(Extended Essay,简称 EE)


是一项独立的、自我主导的研究过程,最终以4,000字论文形式进行考核。要求学生就当代全球性重大议题如全球食品危机、气候变化等展开跨学科深入研究。在这个过程中学生可以将所选的议题与当地的背景相结合,通过自己的议题来决定选择 IB 课程中的具体学科,从而确定研究的理论依据,以此培养学生的全球意识,包括对全球议题的敏感性、理解力以及着眼于全球的自我意识,同时培养学生的研究能力、探究精神和创新意识。

创新、活动和服务(Creativity,Activity,Service,简称 CAS)


基于学生的个体兴趣和经验,完成与“创新”“活动”与“服务”这三个概念相关的项目。开展艺术、文学、科技、人文、数学等领域的创造性活动;基于个体的生活经验与伦理道德,为需要帮助的群体提供志愿者服务;根据社会特点开展适合的体育运动及团队活动,以培养学生的人际交往能力,社会责任感和服务意识。



这三大核心课程中,知识理论课程(TOK)强调学习者的思维能力以及对问题的可迁移能力,拓展论文(EE)关注学习者通过研究进行学习的能力,创新、行动和服务(CAS)强调学习者通过计划和执行项目进行学习的经验,这些经验和能力对学习者的未来发展至关重要。

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

TOK is to establish connections among traditional academic subjects, student’s existing experience, and learning, with the spirit of inquiring. This curriculum asks questions like How did we know? How can we proof? What does this theory mean in realistic world? These questions help students gain knowledge while listening and exchanging, and eventually develop a critical thinking ability.

Extended Essay (EE)

EE requires learner to conduct intensive interdisciplinary research on major current topics such as global food crisis and climate change. Students may apply the topic with local background and pick their own IB subject to determine the theoretical foundation, in order to cultivate students’ sensitivity comprehension and self-awareness to global issues, as well as students’ research availability, inquiry spirit and creativity.

Creativity,Activity,Service (CAS)

CAS requires creative activities based on student’s personal interests and experiences, such as painting, dancing, theatre and writing. It also includes volunteering services for the needed ones, appropriate sports and group activities built on individual life experience and morality, in order to develop students’ social skills, sense of responsibility and service.



Among the 3 core curriculums, TOK focuses on learner’s inquiry ability and transferability; EE focuses on learner’s learning ability thru investigation and research; CAS is heavy on learner’s experience via planning and execution, which are essential to learner’s future development.





IB DP是如何确保学生全面发展的?

六大学科组

Holistic Development - 6 Subject Groups


所有IB DP文凭项目学生必须在六大学科组中每组各选一门课程进行学习,每个学科组都包含标准等级课程(Standard Level)和更具挑战的高等级课程(Higher Level),学生所选 6 门课程中至少有 3 门是高阶课程。

语言与文学研究 包括三门子课程:

1. 文学:培养学生对于文学作品的批判性反思能力、对文学作品的鉴赏和评论能力等;

2. 语言和文学:培养学生的文本分析能力以及通过论文写作提升学生的写作能力和表达能力;

3. 文学和表演:培养学生的口头及书面表达能力。

语言习得 包括现代语言和古典语言

1. 现代语言分为初级语言和语言 B 两种语言习得课程,主要培养学生的跨文化理解能力,交流和互动能力,整合及创新能力。

2. 古典语言为学生提供了探索古希腊和古罗马语言、文学及文化的机会,发现古典文化所蕴含的美。

个人与社会:涉及商业管理、经济、地理、全球政治、历史、哲学、心理、信息技术与全球社会等相关课程,主要培养学生的决策能力,适应变化能力,进行战略性思考、长期规划、分析和评价的能力,跨文化意识和全球视野。

科学:涉及生物、计算机、化学、设计、物理、体育运动与健康等相关课程,主要培养学生的科学研究能力、解决问题的能力、合作学习能力、设计能力、跨学科研究能力。

数学:包括数学分析与方法、数学应用与解释两门课程,主要培养学生的逻辑思维能力和运用数学解决问题的能力。

艺术:包括音乐、电影、戏剧、视觉艺术以及 IB 学校自主开设的其他科目,主要培养学生的艺术欣赏能力、对艺术作品的清晰理解、批判性思考和反思性分析、有效介入作品以及富有想象力的创造能力。


从 IBDP 课程的三大核心课程及六大学科组来看,IBDP 课程既关注传统学术科目,又强调学生对于不同学科知识的广度和深度把握,注重学生的社会情感与身体健康,使学生在面对繁重的学习任务的同时,能够拓展自己的教育经历以及应用所学的知识和技能。

All IBDP student must choose one course out of each subject group. All subject groups include courses at Standard Level and Higher Level. The 6 courses optioned much include at least 3 HL courses, and graduation is subject to the completion of all 6 subject courses.

Language & Literature:

1.Literature: to develop student’s critical thinking ability, connoisseurship and appreciation capability;

2.Language and Literature: to develop student’s analytical ability and increase writing and expression capability thru essay writing;

3.Literature and Performance: to promote student’s verbal and writing expression skills.

Language Acquisition

1.Modern Language consists of Junior Language and Language B courses, aiming to strengthen student’s cross-culture comprehension, communication, interaction, integration and creation abilities.

2.Classical Language provides students an opportunity to inquire ancient Greek and Roman language, literature and culture.

Individual and Society:Including management, economics, geography, politics, history, philosophy, psychology, intelligence, society and region courses, which develops student’s decision-making, adapting, strategic-think, long-term planning, analyzing and appreciation skills, as well as inter-cultural mindedness and global vision.

Science:Including biology, computer technology, chemistry, design, physics, sports and health courses, which lifts student’s capability on scientific research, problem-solving, team-studying, designing and interdisciplinary researching.

Mathematics:Including basic mathematical research, math foundations, advanced math and further mathematics, which develops student’s ability of logic thinking and problem-solving with math skills.

Art:Including dancing, music, movie, theatre, visual art and other self-developed coursed opened by IB schools. Art courses are to cultivate student’s appreciation, understanding, critical-thinking and reflection abilities on artworks, and to inspire imagination and creativity.


IBDP is well balanced between traditional academic subjects and widening and deepening interdisciplinary knowledge. The courses focus on student’s mental and physical health and allows students to expand their education background and apply theoretical knowledge and skills to real life problems.





IB DP是如何考试的?

评估方法

IB DP Examinations - Assessment


国际文凭组织(IBO)会对 IBDP 课程的目标实现情况进行评估。

评估内容包括:

学习者的基本技能:如获取知识、理解关键概念、应用标准化方法等能力;

学习者的高阶技能:如对信息的分析和汇报、评估以及论证、创造性解决问题等能力。


评估形式:

既包括在课程教学过程中进行的内部评估;

又包含以论文、演出及展览和考试为主要形式的外部评估。


评估标准:

所有 IBDP 学生必须在六大学科组中每组选一门课程进行学习,每门课程分数从 1-7 分不等,其中三个高阶课程,三个标阶课程,每门科目的最高分数为 7 分。再加上拓展论文(EE)和知识理论(TOK)的 3 分,创新、服务与活动(CAS)以活动小时数计算,IBDP满分为45分。即:6门课程(满分42分)+{[EE+TOK(满分3分)]+CAS}=满分共计45分。通常世界一流大学对学生的IBDP 成绩要求在 40 分以上。

IBO conducts assessment of IBDP according to below conditions.

Coverage

Learner’s fundamental skills: knowledge acquisition, understanding on key theories, and applying standardization ability.


Learner’s advanced skills: intelligence analysis, summarizing and assessment, and argumentation and creative problem-solving abilities.

Pattern

Internal assessment during classroom teaching.


External assessment such as essay and examinations.


Standards

All IBDP students must choose one course out of each subject group. Each course scores from 1-7. The 3 SL courses (7 each) and 3 HL courses (7 each), plus the EE and TOK (3) and CAS which calculates by activity hours, in total comes up to 45 points maximum.


6 courses (42 points) + EE & TOK (3 points) + CAS = 45 points


Normally world top universities require IBDP score to be above 40 points.
