IB国际文凭课程始终倡导终身学习的理念

这不仅针对IB课程的学习者

同时,“终身学习”也会贯穿教师职业成长的始末


8月25日,ASJ校园迎来了48位中外籍PYP教师。每年此时,ASJ的校园注定是不平凡的,新学年的即将开始。


尽管学生还未启程返校,教师已经开始投入了紧张的教学准备工作中。小学部也为教师准备了为期两周的教师专业培训,为新学期赋能,以便更好地开展教学工作。



学部培训大会上,小学部主任杨瓅眉老师首先回顾了部门的发展历程,介绍了本学年师资安排以及学部校历,并明确了新学期的发展远景。会议的后半程,“以小见大”带着教师熟悉学部日常教学规范、教学流程,以便帮助教师尽快适应教学。



接下来,小学部举办了系列的IB培训,以讲授式、研讨式、协作式等形式展开。目的是为了加深教师对IBPYP项目的理解。教师们带着先前在教学过程中的遇到难点和疑点走进了IB PYP培训的课堂,开启一场别有趣味的课程探索之旅

成为一名金牌土豆销售员又需要什么学科知识?

以上三个问题与PYP的超学科探究存在何种联系?


伴随着IB PYP协调员王肖玥老师提出的这几个既饶有趣味又贴近生活实际的问题,我们正式拉开了培训的序幕。王肖玥老师首先从数字出发给我们系统而全面地梳理了PYP的基本框架,为教师们搭建了一个关于PYP教学的脚手架。随后她结合开头所提的问题强调IB国际文凭课程注重培养孩子的国际视野,我们要超越知识本身,将知识要与“现实”世界建立联系。最后,结合PYP、MYP和DP的特点,王老师指出了三个项目之间的连续性特征,并明确了小学阶段应该培养怎样的IB学习者。

探究式教学、概念驱动教学,以及举证式学习出发,王老师带着大家梳理了PYP课程所提倡的教学方法。培训中,王肖玥老师多次提醒大家PYP课程需要本土化发展,需要立足于学校的办学理念和文化,需要将IB课程理念与中国国家教材、香港教材融合,办出具有ASJ特色的PYP。

除了如火如荼的IB培训外,我们还举办了Managebac和希沃白板等教学辅助工具的培训,为教师顺利开展教学,提高教学质量赋能。IT部门的郭宇铭老师为大家详细介绍了Managebac的使用流程,Managebac的使用将大大提高教师评估、撰写报告、单元计划的效率。此外,今年小学部还购置了一批全新的希沃智能化教学装备,专门邀请了希沃公司的教育培训师为大家展示了智能化教学的方式。

小学部主任杨瓅眉老师,对班主任进行培训,她希望班主任能看到学生们身上闪烁的微光,努力将这些光凝聚成璀璨的星河。英语学科组组长曾咏娜老师分享自己如何用“爱”管理班级。同时,学部也邀请了教学总监杨丽红总监以及学生发展中心郑伟主任,为教师们解读学生行为管理制度,为教师管理学生提供方向和依据。

这次会议清晰了解了学校的课程框架和IB的大框架,未来还想继续了解更多优秀的超学科融合教学案例,还有概念驱动教学。

The IB International Baccalaureate Programme has always promoted the concept of lifelong learning

This is not only for IB learners

“Lifelong learning” will continue throughout a teacher's professional growth

On August 25, the ASJ campus welcomed 48 Chinese and foreign PYP teachers. The ASJ campus is destined to be extraordinary at this time of year, as the new school year is about to begin.


Although students have not yet left for school, teachers are already engaged in intensive teaching preparations. The department of Primary Years Program has also prepared a two-week professional training for teachers to empower them for the new school year so that they can better carry out their teaching.



During the training session, Ms.Grace, Head of the Primary Years Program, firstly reviewed the development of the department, introduced the teacher arrangements and the school calendar for this school year, and clarified the development vision for the new semester. In the second half of the meeting, teachers were familiarized with the daily teaching standards and procedures of the department in order to help them adapt to teaching as soon as possible.



Next, the department of Primary Years Program held a series of IB training in the form of lectures, seminars, and collaborative sessions. The purpose was to deepen teachers' understanding of the IB PYP program. Teachers came into the IB PYP training with questions and doubts they had previously encountered in their teaching, and embarked on a unique and interesting journey of curriculum exploration.

How do these three questions relate to the transdisciplinary themes of PYP?


With these interesting and practical questions from Ms.Dora, the IB PYP Coordinator, we kicked off the training. Ms.Dora first gave us a systematic and comprehensive overview of the basic framework of the PYP from a numerical point of view, building a scaffolding for the teachers on PYP teaching. Then she emphasized that the IB Diploma Programme focuses on cultivating children's international perspective, and that we need to go beyond knowledge itself and connect it to the "real" world. Finally, combining the characteristics of PYP, MYP and DP, Ms.Dora pointed out the continuity between the three programs and clarified what kind of IB learners should be cultivated at the primary level.

From inquiry-based teaching, concept-driven teaching, and evidence-based learning, Ms.Dora went through the teaching methods advocated by the PYP curriculum with the teaching staff. During the training, Ms.Dora reminded us several times that the PYP curriculum needs to be developed locally, based on the school's philosophy and culture, and needs to integrate the IB curriculum concepts with the Chinese national textbooks and Hong Kong textbooks to run a PYP with ASJ characteristics.

In addition to the IB training, we also held training on teaching aids such as the Managebac system and the Seewo whiteboard to empower teachers to carry out smooth teaching and improve the quality of teaching. Mr.Guo Yuming from the IT department gave a detailed introduction to the process of using Managebac, which will greatly improve the efficiency of teachers' working, including assessment writing, report writing and unit planning. And this year, the primary department purchased a new batch of intelligent teaching equipment from Seewo, and specially invited an educational trainer from the company to demonstrate the way of intelligent teaching.

Ms.Grace arranged a training session for homeroom teachers, who hoped that homeroom teachers could see the shimmering lights in their students and try to make these lights into a bright river of stars. Ms.Ivy, the English subject leader, shared how she managed the class with love. At the same time, the school also invited Ms.Audrey, the Director of Teaching and Learning, and Mr.David, the Director of Student Development Center, to explain the student behavior regulations to teachers, providing direction and basis for teachers to manage students.

This meeting provided a clear understanding of the school's curriculum framework and the general framework of IB curriculum. I would like to continue to learn more excellent examples of integration teaching and learning between transdisciplinary themes and other subjects, as well as concept-driven teaching in the future.

I learned the differences and connections between IB PYP and MYP, DP and even CP, and the transdisciplinary themes, approaches to learning skills and approaches to teaching skills in this training. I hope to learn more excellent teaching cases and more IB-related pedagogies in the future.

The fortnight training is over and all the teachers have benefited greatly. As part of the community of learners, they have been on the move, always updating their knowledge and actively practicing the IB lifelong learner philosophy. We hope that the teachers will go into the classroom with their gains and make change happen in the classroom.
