Sunday 23rd January was the happy day on which our unique STEAM event took place. The theme was innovation and creativity. It demonstrated how simple everyday objects could be transformed into artwork or an educational tool fit for all members of the family! 


1 月 23 日星期日,我们举办了独一无二的STEAM工坊活动,洋溢着快乐的氛围。这次活动的主题是创新和创造力。它为简单的日常物品赋予了丰富的艺术价值和教育意义!


We also had an incredible day at the Full STEAM Ahead event at Britannia International School on 11th June. 


6月11日,在BIS英伦学校的 Full STEAM Ahead 第二届英伦创客工坊活动中,我们也度过了令人难以置信的一天!


This event was a creative showcase of students work, presented as the Art of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), exhibiting all the students work throughout the year in a unique and interactive way, some activities gave an insight into future STEAM projects to engage with.


本次活动是学生作品的创意展示,呈现为STEM(科学、技术、工程、数学)的艺术,以独特和互动的方式展示了所有学生全年的作品,一些活动让我们深入了解未来的STEAM项目参与。

After 25 days of intense competition between the houses, the month of sport has come to an end.


经过25天的激烈角逐,我们的运动月在欢乐中结束。


An impressive level of participation on the part of the students to compete in the different games, all happened under the watchful eye of their house mates.


同学们参加各种比赛项目的表现令人印象深刻,所有的一切都看在队友的眼里。


It was a month of great joy and fun. We thank all the students, teachers and staff for being part of it and for their contribution to make this initiative such a success.


这是一个欢乐满满的三月,我们感谢所有学生、教师和工作人员参与其中,感谢他们为如此成功的运动月所做的贡献。

It is a great honour to participate in the activity of GoGreen: Youth Innovation Program hosted by CEAIE. In this activity, our students showed the awareness of environmental protection and built the Future City together with the students of Xiehe Primary School. We created an environmentally friendly world with waste cardboard boxes and won the gold medal. This activity also enhanced the students' innovation ability, cooperation ability, research ability and problem-solving ability. In the future, we will continue to use innovative ideas to become a participant and contributor to the protection of the global environment.


很荣幸参加由中国教育国际交流协会主办的2022青少年绿色创新活动。在本次活动中,我们的学生们体现出环境保护意识,与协和小学的学生们共同搭建未来之城,我们用废旧的纸箱创造出环保的世界并荣获了金奖。这次活动也提升了学生们的创新能力、合作能力、研究能力和解决问题的能力。以后,我们会继续用创新思路致力于成为保护地球环境的参与者与贡献者。

Creative Music Workshop -

Our EAL teacher Aaron worked with students on a creative music workshop, turning garbage into music, where he guided students to make some musical instruments out of waste materials and played musical beats out of these up-cycled instruments. How creative and meaningful! 


我们的EAL老师Aaron与学生一起参加了一个创意音乐工作坊,将废品转化为音乐,他指导学生用废弃材料制作乐器,并用这些循环使用的乐器演奏音乐节拍。多有创意和意义呀!

Book Month

This year we celebrated World Book Day on Friday 22nd April with a Book Character Costume Competition and other fun online class activities.


今年的世界读书日活动在 4 月 22 日星期五举行,当天我们进行了图书角色扮演比赛,还有很多其他有趣的线上课堂活动。


Our students dressed as their favourite book character at home and shared their favorite book with your class.


同学们在家穿上了最喜欢的图书角色服装,并与其他同学们分享自己最喜欢的一本书。


Although this book month was held online, we still saw photos of very innovative students. We look forward to next year's Book Month!


虽然本次书月在线上进行,但是依然看到了非常有创新力的同学们的照片。我们期待下一年的读书月!

BIS Art Exhibition

Britannia International School Art Exhibition included paintings, drawings, photographs, and mixed media works. The selection of art on view reflected the ambitious imaginations and diversity of the creatives of tomorrow. 


本次的艺术展展出的作品包含绘画、素描、照片和混合媒体作品。展出的艺术作品反映了未来创意的雄心勃勃的想象力和多样性。


Pablo Picasso said that “every child is born an artist, the problem is how to remain one once we grow up”. I think children should never be discouraged to be creative. I believe that every student is an artist!


毕加索曾说过:“每个孩子生来就是艺术家,问题是长大后如何保持艺术家身份”。我认为孩子们永远不应该气馁去创造。我相信每一位学生都是艺术家!


People who have music in their hearts will love beautiful things. People who have music in their hearts are full of love for good things. If beauty needs to be displayed, it must be achieved through art; if beauty has a voice, it must be music.


心中有音乐的人会对美好的事物充满爱。如果美需要展现,那必须通过艺术实现;如果美有声音,那一定是音乐。

Micro Fiction Event

Micro Fiction is a literary style that has grown in popularity in recent years. It is a very short story - hence the word ‘micro’! The writers need to be precise with their choice of words and clever with language. They must write in a way which helps the reader ‘see’ a picture and feel a feeling quickly because they only have one paragraph in which to do this! Top quality micro-fiction also leaves the reader wondering.


微小说是近年来流行起来的一种文学风格。这是一个非常短的故事——因此是“微”这个词!作者需要准确地选择词语和巧妙地使用语言。他们必须以一种可以帮助读者“看到”图片并快速找到感觉的方式写作,因为他们只有一小段的篇幅来实现!高质量的微小说也让读者浮想联翩。


This topic was considered suitable for a short period of online lessons. It was a new subject for the students, plus it also had a clear final target in sight. This was a competition, prizes, and the satisfaction of seeing one’s words in print! (in ‘That’s Magazine). This was something new and exciting during a time when many students missed the school routine.


微小说主题很适合短期的在线课程。这对学生来说是一门新学科,而且它也有一个明确的最终目标。这是一场比赛,有奖品,还看到自己的作品被印刷出版从而获得满足感!(在《That's》杂志中)。在许多学生错过了学校常规课程的时候,这是一件新鲜而令人兴奋的事情。


This topic gave the students a chance to write their own stories which were marked against the Cambridge International Exam criteria.


这个主题让学生有机会编写自己的故事,这些故事是根据剑桥国际考试标准设定的。


As a result, students practised: their ability to construct a plot, their use of grammar, their understanding of how to sequence events (put events in order), dialogue (how much conversation to include) and vocabulary. They also strengthened their ability to use specific features of writing, such as similes, metaphors and ellipsis. This comprehensive list covered many of the requirements for paper 2, (writing) in the Cambridge International syllabus.


最后学生锻炼了很多能力:构建情节的能力,对语法的使用,对如何安排事件(按顺序排列事件)的理解,对话(应当包含多少对话)和词汇。他们还加强了使用修辞手法的能力,例如明喻、隐喻和省略。这份作品涵盖了剑桥国际教学大纲中论文 2(写作)的许多要求。

Anti-Bullying Presentation

Year 6 showcased a video tackling different instances of bullying - how to identify these types and the measures learners can take to stop bullying when they see it or experience it. A quick quiz about bullying that engaged the whole school was hosted thereafter, where those that gave the correct answers to posed questions were awarded a pen symbolizing house points. This portion of the event allowed the audience to actively engage by responding to real-life situations that are relevant to their school experience. Bullying is a topic that Year 6 had covered during their PSHE lessons.

The IGCSE parents-teachers meeting took place on 18th September 2022.


IGCSE 学习规划会于 2022 年 9 月 18 日举行。


The main topic of this meeting was the Cambridge IGCSE set of exams, for which all pupils can study at BIS. These exams are international and are recognized by many universities around the world. The exam syllabus, exam papers and course-books are written by a department within Cambridge University, which is one of the two most famous universities in the UK.


本次会议的主题是剑桥IGCSE考试,所有学生都可以在英伦学校学习。这些考试是国际性的,并得到世界各地许多大学的认可。考试大纲、试卷和课本由剑桥大学编写,剑桥大学是英国最著名的两所大学之一。


The aim of the meeting was twofold. Firstly, to explain to the parents the advantages of the Cambridge exam syllabus. Secondly, to explain how acquiring a set of IGCSE exams can help your child with plans for his/her future.  


会议的目的是双重的。首先,我们向家长阐述了剑桥考试大纲的优势。其次,我们又解释如何让一系列 IGCSE 考试帮助孩子规划他/她的未来。


At BIS students can study for an IGCSE in most subjects. The IGCSE course starts in Year 10 and exams are taken at the end of Year 11. If students pass these exams, they are eligible to enter an A-level course.


在英伦学校,学生可以学习大多数科目的 IGCSE。IGCSE 课程从 10 年级开始,考试在 11 年级结束。如果学生通过这些考试,他们就有资格进入 A-level 课程。


Sound A-level results are needed to enter university. Therefore, good grades at IGCSE level are the first step towards your child’s future.

Puppet Show

In their English classes, the students in Year 5 have been learning: 5.1 - stories from different cultures. The students started by reading stories from South Africa and Australia and learnt about how stories can be passed down through different generations. They answered questions such as 'What is culture?' 'Why is culture important to us?' The students then learnt about fables and morals as they read the fables 'The lion and the mouse' and 'The lion and the jackal'.


在英语课上,五年级的学生们一直在学习:5.1 - 来自不同文化的故事。学生们从阅读南非和澳大利亚的故事开始,了解故事如何代代相传。他们回答了诸如“什么是文化?”、“为什么文化对我们很重要?”之类的问题。然后,学生们在阅读寓言“狮子和老鼠”和“狮子和豺狼”时了解寓言和品德。


Next, the students performed the fables to their friends using masks and focused on the Cambridge learning objectives: 5SLp.02 Convey ideas about characters in drama through deliberate choice of speech, gesture and movement. 5SLm.04 Adapt non-verbal communication techniques for different purposes and contexts.* The Year 5 students really enjoyed performing to their peers.

To make the project even more exciting, we decided to make three puppet theatres for the students to perform in. The theatres were made using cardboard, gold paint and a red curtain. Ms. Tarryn and Mr. Tom helped to make them. It was important to use recyclable materials like cardboard and items that are readily available because the students can make these at home with their parents. Using items like cardboard shows that you can make whole worlds and they can use items that are readily available or that are often thrown away. This project shows that you can use items around the house and the students can practice their English in a creative and fun way.

After writing their own fable, the students edited them to check they made sense and shared their fables with their peers who offered suggestions and ideas. Finally, it was time for them to perform their fables. The students performed their fables in Mr. Peter and Ms. Sinead's nursery class. They were a little nervous but also excited. They enjoyed performing and the nursery students thoroughly enjoyed their performances.
