So in what aspects should we assess students? And what assessment strategies should we choose?
"There are four aspects of assessment in primary program: examining learning, recording, measuring, and reporting. Each aspect has its own function, but all are intended to inform learning and teaching. Although these four aspects of assessment are not weighted equally, each has its own importance and value. The primary program focuses on the examination and documentation of learning because these two aspects are critical to providing viable input/informative feedback to learners." Led by Ms. Apple, the teachers brainstormed many pre-assessment, formative assessment, and summative assessment strategies, making them realize that assessment occurs in all stages of teaching and learning, and that only by learning how to assess students in a variety of ways can students grow and improve themselves through assessment and become a true "booster" for their students.
