It was delightful to see so many parents in School on Saturday 8 January for the Year 6-10 parent teacher conferences. We hope parents found the feedback from their child’s teachers informative and helped them to understand the progress students are making and the targets we have set for further academic improvement.

感谢各位家长积极地参与了上周六举行的六至十年级家长会。希望老师们的反馈可以帮助大家了解孩子目前的学业进度和接下来的目标。

UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT)

UKMT 英国数学竞赛

Every year the UKMT run a series of mathematics challenges to inspire a love of problem solving. Maths Challenges encourage students to work collaboratively and independently on a range of intriguing mathematical problems, use logic and problem solving and are a wonderful opportunity for students to attempt a different style of question.

每年，英国数学协会都会组织一系列的数学竞赛，鼓励学生的探究精神。竞赛有年龄区分，初赛中成绩优异的学生将被邀请参加后续的竞赛。在高年级竞赛中表现优异的学生还会有机会参与英国乃至国际奥数赛事。数学竞赛鼓励学生在一系列有趣的数学问题上进行独立思考和团队协作，运用逻辑和解决问题，这是学生尝试不同类型问题的绝佳机会。

During 2022 UKMT is celebrating 25 years of competition and LEH has organised a special event on Tuesday 25 January to mark the occasion. This is age sensitive so all students from Years 6-8 will be involved in the online competition. There are 25 thought-provoking questions, all multiple choice. Students in Years 9-11 have been invited to participate in the Intermediate maths challenge on Thursday 3 February.

2022年是英国数学协会的25周年纪念，因此学校将于1月25日组织一场特别的活动让学生参与其中。6至8年级的学生将在这天参加线上竞赛，尝试解决25道引人深思的选择题。我们也诚邀所有9至11年级的学生报名参加2月3日（农历正月初三）举行的中级竞赛。

Chinese New Year

辞旧迎新，春节庆典

The Year of the Ox has been difficult for everyone around the World due to COVID restrictions. We sincerely hope that the Year of the Tiger will be one where normal service returns. To celebrate the New Year there will be another celebration assembly on 28 January where students will perform a range of musical pieces, songs drama and dance. We look forward to seeing you at School on 28 January for the Chinese New Year celebrations.

由于疫情的影响，牛年对世界各地的每个人来说都过得很艰难。我们衷心希望生活能在虎年恢复正常。为庆祝新春佳节，学生们将于1月28日的春节庆典上奉上精彩的表演，包括传统中国歌曲的演奏、中文小品和民族舞蹈等。

Student Leadership

学生们发起公益项目

On the last day of 2021, LEH Students Catherine, Anna, Tina, Simon, Ethan, Henry and Vivian launched the project Floating Books, a book donation public welfare project. Accompanied by their parents, they handed over 276 books collected from 6 families to students at Haishou Primary School. Our students will continue to run the project in 2022 and bring more books to more children in a wider range of schools, communities, and villages.

在2021年的最后一天，佛山霍利斯学生Catherine、Anna、Tina、Simon、Ethan、Henry和Vivian发起“彩虹图书漂流瓶”公益项目。一行十余人在家长的陪伴下，将大家从6个家庭筹集到的276本图书交到海寿小学学生手中。接下来，学生们将会继续努力运营项目，让彩虹图书馆落地到更多需要图书的校园、社区、乡村，传递到更多孩子手中。

1st Place in Chamber Music Competition

学生获室内乐大赛一等奖

Congratulations to LEH Student Mathea on winning the First Prize in the Chamber Music-Children A Class of Solo Strings (Cello) of China Division in the Twelfth Hong Kong International Violin Competition and the Ninth Hong Kong International Chamber Competition.

祝贺佛山霍利斯学生Mathea荣获第十二届（2022）香港国际小提琴大赛及第九届香港国际室内乐大赛中国赛区室内乐-弦乐独奏儿童组A（大提琴）一等奖。
