Mangahigh COBIS mathematics challenge was held on the Jan 24 -31. Every student in the school participated and the online challenges varied for each year group. It was a competitive week with many students competing against their friends and class mates.  All students managed great scores and considering what a small school we are I was thrilled to see us finishing in 87 out of 149 schools.

学生们于1月24日至31日参加了Mangahigh COBIS国际数学挑战赛。年级之间的挑战难度有所不同，但学校的每位学生都积极参与到了比赛之中，所有学生都取得了优异的成绩。鉴于目前我校学生人数不多，能够在149所学校中取得87的排名，我感到非常高兴和激动。

Individually, many students scored in the hundreds but some students deserve a special mention. Winnie was leading throughout the week and she was achieving gold level in many topics, the younger students were inspired and tried hard to catch up.

许多学生取得了超过百分的总成绩，但有些学生值得提出特别表扬。Winnie在这一周内都处于领先地位，她在许多题目上都达到了最优水平，低年级的学生受其鼓舞，也在奋力追赶。

Roger and Vincy worked tirelessly not just in school but also over the final weekend and ran way with the lead. Vincy scored the highest with 566 points with Roger closely behind on 500 points. There is another challenge in March and I know the students will be excited to compete.

Roger和Vincy在这一周里非常认真，且利用最后的周末奋力一搏，一路领先。最终，Vincy以566的高分荣获第一名，Roger以500分荣获第二名。下一场挑战赛即将在三月进行，相信学生们也会有出色的表现！

This visit ratifies all of the hard work that has been done since the School opened. We now have our compliance certificate and membership. The feedback was very positive, we received several commendations which is highly unusual for such a young school.

我校已通过英国国际学校理事会审核并正式成为理事会成员。这个审核结果，正是对我校社区全体成员的最好肯定。审核过程中，理事会对学校给予高度积极的评价，这对于一所新成立的学校而言是难能可贵的。

Each week I meet with Heather Hanbury, Head Mistress of LEH London. The relationship between the two schools is authentic and will grow stronger when COIVD allows. However, this term the Sciences Faculty, led by Dr Kirk, started another exciting STEM project with Year 6 students.

LEH in the UK are holding a Science Fair on the 21st February. After our collaboration with the electron microscope earlier in the year, their STEM coordinator, Mr Brittain, asked if we would like to take part online.

Our Year 6 students were set the task of coming up with a project for this fair; they chose the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) which has just been launched and is set to become operational in the near future. Scientists hope to look back towards the creation of the Universe with the telescope, which will complement and then supercede the Hubble telescope which has been providing fascinating images of galaxies and stars for the last 30 years, providing a doorway not the Universe.

Under the benevolent eyes of Mr Cairnie and Mr Farnsworth, Year 6 students have researched the history of using telescopes in space exploration, looked at the technology that is being used in the JWST and are making a scale model of it that will hopefully hang in the void above the feature staircase in school. We look forward to presenting the work that has been done so far and learning about the other projects that the students at LEH(UK) have produced at the Science Fair next week.

Each Friday there will be Afternoon Tea (16:00-17:00) starting from 25th February for Year 6. This is an opportunity to discuss your child’s education with me. You are welcome to bring along a friend who may have a child of the same age and would like to enquire about LEH.
