Taking advantage of the beautiful September weather in Zhengzhou, Sias IS students had an awesome Outdoor Instructional Week. They got to experience inquiry-based learning out of their everyday classrooms. Learning takes place everywhere!
九月的郑州秋意渐浓，天宇明亮，在此秋高气爽之际，西亚斯外籍学校带领全校学生开启了户外教学周。在体验中学习，在探究中学习学习，学习的“课堂”可以在很多地方！
Nature is the best classroom! On the first day of outdoor learning, students went to Zhengzhou Forest Park to explore nature. Teachers took the students on a field inquiry that was different from their learning in classrooms. They had fun observing insects, collecting plants, touching the natural grain of trees. They also created art under the warm sunshine and had a great time reading with their teachers.
自然世界是最好的课堂之一！在户外教学的第一天里，同学们走出校园来到郑州市森林公园感受和探索自然。同学们在老师的带领下进行了区别于教室内的实地探究式学习，同学们可以去观察昆虫、去收集植被标本、去触摸树木生长纹路，或者在和煦阳光照耀下进行艺术创作和跟老师们一起享受阅读的乐趣。
Welcome to the Animal Kingdom! On the second day, kids from Early Years went to visit Zhengzhou Zoo, where they felt like they were in real nature to observe different animals, and the diversity of life. They got to see animals living in deserts, grasslands, and rainforests, which truly stimulated their curiosity and understandings about the world we live in.
欢迎来到动物王国，感受多彩生命！户外教学周的第二天幼儿部的同学们来到了郑州市动物园，近距离感受生命的多样，拉近自身与自然间的距离。孩子们在视觉上洞察了生活在沙漠、草原、雨林等各种环境的动物，丰富对动物与自然的认知。
Henan- the Cradle of China! At the same time on the second day, students and teachers from PYP and MYP visited Henan Museum, a journey to discover Chinese history. In the museum, students were immersed in the history of the humanities,to feel the historical significance of Henan, and to "talk" with the historical relics from thousands of years ago.
行走河南，读懂中国！同样在户外教学周的第二天，小学部与初中部的师生们则是前往了河南省博物院，开启了认知历史之旅。在博物院里同学们一同沉浸在历史的人文里、去感受河南这片土地的历史厚重感、与千百年前的历史文物展开“交谈”。
Later in the week, Sias IS went on a field trip to Sias University in Xinzheng city, the birthplace of Yellow Emperor， where they experienced the East meets West philosophy. They also visited Zhengzhou Science and Technology Museum, embracing the charm of science.
在户外周之后的行程里，西亚斯外籍师生们前往了位于黄帝故里——新郑的西亚斯大学探寻“兼容中西”的求学理念。在郑州市科技馆里探求真知感受来自于科技魅力。
These learnings aligned with students’ Unit of Inquiry. Students didn’t lose class time, they GAINED authentic, learning experiences, and created memories that will last much longer than classroom-based instruction.
当身心沉浸自然，当眼界逐渐开阔，户外教学周的出现让西亚斯外籍学校的师生们创造了比课堂教学更持久的记忆、学到更深入广博的知识、更沉浸式的户外学习体验。
