假期助学

SUMMER

假期里，我跟着妈妈所在的公益组织，到贵州山区参加了助学走访活动，活动目的是通过走访，了解困难学生的家庭情况，确定受助者的名单， 然后用一对一的方式资助学生。

During the holiday, I went to the mountainous area of Guizhou with my mother's public welfare organization and participated in student aid visits. Then I helped the students in a one-to-one way, including giving them some tuition fees.

这次活动我收获很大，除了跟志愿者们学习做公益之外，还在那里认识了许多同龄人，感受不一样的生活。

I learned a lot from this activity. Besides learning to do public welfare with the volunteers, I also met many of my peers there and felt different life.

志愿者们分组走访了147个村，我和妈妈在第4组。

The volunteers visited 147 villages in groups. My mother and I were in the fourth group.

在当地老师的引领下，我们组用两天的时间走访了10个村23个贫困学生家庭。

Under the guidance of the local teachers, our group spent two days visiting 23 families of poor students in 10 villages.

他们住在苗族或水族的村寨里，那里的山路非常难走。

They live in Miao or Shui villages, where the mountain roads are very difficult to navigate.

这些学生的家庭条件都不好，有不少还是单亲家庭，失去了妈妈或爸爸。 

These students' family conditions are not good, many are single parent families, lost a mother or father.

其中有个和我同岁的小男孩，我们去的时候只有他一个人在家里。

One of them was a little boy my age who was the only one at home when we went.

他没有了妈妈，也没有爷爷奶奶，爸爸患了重病住院，家里欠了很多钱。他没有任何依靠，真的是太难了，太需要帮助了。

He had no mother, no grandparents, his father was seriously ill in hospital, the family owed a lot of money. He had nothing to fall back on. It was just too hard. He needed help.

还有一个比我大两岁的姐姐，家庭条件很不好，但是学习非常好，家里的墙上挂满了她的奖状。

There is a sister who is two years older than me, the family conditions are very bad, but the study is very good, the wall of the home is covered with her certificates. 

她在自己的床头写了这样一行字：“你若不努力，谁也给不了你想要的生活”。这句话对我的触动很大。

She wrote on the head of her bed: "If you don't work hard, no one can give you the life you want."This sentence struck me as a big deal.

他们在这样艰苦的条件下都能够努力学习，我们还有什么理由不努力呢？

They are able to study hard under such tough conditions. What's the reason for us not to work hard?

他们没有名牌的衣服和鞋子，没有好吃的美食，更没有电脑玩游戏。但是他们依然乐观、向上。

They don't have famous brand clothes and shoes, they don't have delicious food and they don't have computers to play games. But they remain optimistic and upbeat.

他们是需要帮助的人，但是，他们身上的坚强、淳朴和友善值得我们尊重和学习。

They are people in need of help, but their strength, simplicity and friendliness deserve our respect and learning.

通过这次的走访，我才知道原来还有那么多需要帮助的人。我也要像志愿者们那样，用尊重的方式帮助他人，让我们的世界充满善良和温暖。

Through this visit, I know that there are so many people in need of help. In the future, I will also like the volunteers, with respect to help others, let our world full of kindness and warmth.

我要呼吁所有学生争做时代好少年，我们除了在学校好好学习之外也要参与到公益事业当中来。

I would like to call on all students to strive to be a good youth, we should not only study hard in school but also participate in public welfare undertakings.
