在VPA，阅读是十分被重视的。我们采用来自哥伦比亚大学读写计划的独特课程，培养孩子们对阅读的终身热爱。

哥伦比亚大学读写计划 (TCRWP) 由哥伦比亚大学教授Lucy Calkins于1981年创办，并亲自指导。这套阅读指导是根据大量的研究设计的，研究表示，学生需要大量的阅读才能提升阅读水平。读写工作坊给学生提供了每次30-45分钟的读书时间。为了学生能够成为熟练的读者，他们阅读的内容也必须符合他们的阅读水平。每天我们都会花大量的时间在阅读上，学生们可以自主选择读什么，这样他们才会更积极参与。

我们还会用各种技巧来帮助学生建立好的阅读习惯和阅读目标。我们不希望他们只是打开、关上书本，我们希望他们能真的读进去并且学到东西。他们会带着问题阅读，并且懂得分享。

有时候我们还会做合作阅读，学生们以小组为单位共同阅读，帮助彼此建立好的阅读习惯，以及共同成长。

总校长孔博士亲自去过哥伦比亚大学学习读写能力训练，并且与Dr. Calkins和她的团队建立了长期友好的关系。之后，她带着这套课程回到了香港和内地，给维园和维校的学生们提供与其他世界各地的知名学校同等的高质量教育。

维多利亚早在七年前开始使用这套课程，在课程落地上有充分的实操经验，且效果显著，如今哥大读写项目也走进了VPA。

我们的目标是为学生们今后会面对的阅读做准备，让他们成为在今后的挑战面前有自主能动性的、独立的、终身的、自信的读者。我们的目标是超越基础考试成绩的，我们的目标是创造出一个热爱阅读的时代。

At VPA, reading is taken very seriously, we use the curriculum adapted from The Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP) to foster a life-long love of reading, and to inspire children to be avid readers.

TCRWP was founded and is directed by Lucy Calkins in 1981, The Robinson Professor of Children's Literature at Teachers College, Columbia University. TCRWP reading instruction relies on research that shows that students need to read a lot of texts in order to be better readers. Students have 30-45 minutes to read in the reading workshop. And in order for students to become proficient readers, they must read texts which match their independent reading levels. We spent a lot of time on reading, and students can choose what to read.

We also use different strategies to help students develop good habits and set reading goals. We don’t want them to simply open it and close it, they need to actually read it and learn something from it. They can read with questions and share.

Sometimes, we do partner readings that we want them to read as a team and help each other to build good reading habits and grow ideas together.

Dr. Koong had been to Teacher’s College to learn literacy coaching by herself and built a good relationship with Dr. Calkins and her team. She brought this program back to provide our students the same quality of education as other prestigious schools around the world.

Victoria Education has already used the program for about 7 years and we have many real practices and experince that show an effective outcome. Now we bring this program into VPA.

We aim to prepare students for any reading task they will face or set themselves, to turn them into life-long, confident readers who display agency and independence in their future endeavors.

我们的图书馆布置得井然有序，学生们可以在大课间或放学后在舒服惬意的图书馆里看书或借书。

我们还制作了一个小小移动图书馆，方便孩子们在图书馆外也能随手拿本书看。

Our library is ready to go, students can read or borrow books during the break time or after school.

从本月开始，我们维多利亚教育集团的90组家庭与云南的乡村学校共同进行了“维之阅读”公益活动。

维多利亚教育集团的创始人丁校监非常重视社区服务，从小带着自己的孩子践行公益。我们希望孩子们能传承这份“爱心“，将来成为一名有爱的杰出的人才。

我们VPA的孩子们与云南的哥哥姐姐们共同阅读，通过视频通话的方式，为他们领读并讲解英文绘本。

Since this month, 90 groups of family from Victoria Education Group connected with schools in Yunnan.

Ms. Ting, the founder of Victoria Education, cares about community service very much. We hope children can pass down this kind of love, and become excellent people with love.
