I would like to send you all a warm welcome from the ISA Liwan International Early Years department. I am Ms Angela, the Principal of Early Years here at ISA Liwan. I have two grown up sons, in their thirties and two beautiful grandsons aged 2 and 5 years old. For the last 21 years, I have had the privilege of teaching Early Years students in the UK, Middle East, and China. I have chosen to specialize in early childhood education because I am passionate about creating a teaching and learning environment that recognises and supports the uniqueness of every child and builds strong foundations for a love of lifelong learning.

For the last 4 years, I have been the Early Years Coordinator and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, at the ISA Tianhe. During this time, I developed a successful Early Years Programme and led the Early Years team to ensure that every student received quality teaching and learning in a positive, happy, and safe environment. Now as the Principal of Early Years, I am very excited to have the opportunity to bring the ISA Early Years Programme to the Liwan Campus.

At Liwan Early Years all the teaching and learning will be centered around every student’s individual learning needs, abilities, and wellbeing. Lessons will be delivered using our outstanding indoor and outdoor teaching and learning environments, where the students will be engaged, motivated and happy to learn through interactive activities that instill a wonder of investigation, exploration, and discovery.

Finally, I really believe in providing an Early Years childhood education where students look forward to coming to school every day. An education where the teaching and learning takes place in a positive, caring, and safe environment. Where students want to have a go, to be the very best that they can be, to have a sense of achievement and to succeed. By developing this positive attitude to learning, the students' confidence will naturally grow and develop, giving them every chance of success as they continue their journey to becoming the next young leaders of the future.

It is with great pleasure to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of ISA Liwan International Early Years. My name is Tammy Chan. I am from Hong Kong, China. Professionally, I have over twenty-three years’ experience in Early Years and Elementary education. I have held the principal position in numerous International Kindergartens for 14 years and in an International IB-Montessori Elementary School in Hong Kong for the past 6 years. That role was across four schools working with IB-PYP, Montessori, and Bi-lingual curriculums focusing on developing sustainable, multi-cultural, child centered inquiry-based programmes in each. I am also a part- time lecturer in a HK University, teaching the Post Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and the Kindergarten Principal Certificate.

I love watching young children self-confidence grow and as an educator, I believe it is important to empower learners to pursue pathways to individual excellence by fostering creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills.

I am truly honored to become part of this community, which has already given me such a warm welcome in just the few interactions I have had with staff so far. It is abundantly dear that this school is a unique and special place. You will find me in the hallways, classrooms, and at special activities. My passion has been and always will be educating students. I am looking forward to meeting all of you as we start this new and exciting year together!

I am Joyce, the curriculum coordinator of ISA Liwan International Early Years. I obtained my M.A. in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University. I joined ISA Liwan School in August 2021. I specialize in early childhood education and have 9 years of teaching experience in international schools, including 5 years of teaching experience abroad. I was the Early Years curriculum coordinator at Fettes College Guangzhou, the head of the kindergarten and academic team leader of Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy, and homeroom teacher in Post Oak IB Academy in the United States.

ISA stands for “inquire, succeed, act”. It is also what I believe in education. We encourage and lead students to inquire about the world and actively act out their ideas and wonders. Finally, we expect our children to become successful lifelong learners.

I believe early childhood education is fundamental. Children at this stage have all the potential and possibilities to reach their goals and become the person they want to be. Watching students grow and progress daily brings a strong sense of achievement.

Children are all different. They look different. They play and learn differently as well. As educators, it's our job to learn about each student's needs and uniqueness to provide the best-individualized education for our children and make every minute count for all students.

Hello, I'm Alex a bachelor's degree graduate in Early Childhood Education with 10 years of experience working with children as young as 17 months to 10 years old. Every year my passion to work with children grows as I see them grow. I’m here to not only teach, but to offer a cultural experience where all children can learn morals and values from a young age in order to carry that characteristic into their adolescence. My first language is English being that I was raised in the United States. I am also fluent in Spanish which is the second language of U.S.A. and my goal is to be fluent in Mandarin within the next 2 years.

From the moment I first taught in EY I just knew I belonged. The memorable experiences I have from small children learning from what I taught them gave me the best feeling ever. What I did from that moment on was sharpen my skills to make sure all kids complete my classroom activities with something great to remember, something they can use in the future to help them, that is my goal.

A teacher of Early Years needs to be dynamic, adaptive, and open minded. These qualities can help educate a young mind to find their potential skill set and let them grow using their abilities to spark new ideas, thoughts and personal opinions. This opens a child's cognitive flexibility to learn how to work with others in complex problem solving and exercise their emotional intelligence.

Hi, I am Ms Charlene from Guangdong, China. I acquired a Bachelor of Art in Teaching Chinese as Second/Foreign Language from Jinan University and a Master of Art in Translation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I have spent half a year in the United States studying Educational Psychology and four years at Institute of Psychology, CAS studying Child Development and Educational Psychology. These have laid a solid theoretical and practical foundation for my work.

I have been working in the education industry for nearly 10 years. In recent three years, I have been teaching Chinese for native and non-native students in international schools in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

I have a particular interest in working in an IB school like ISA Liwan that goes beyond basic curricula to instill caring and curiosity in their students and constantly works towards improving their teachers. I am excited to develop interesting lessons to help provide outstanding global citizens.

The thing I like most about teaching Early Years students is my students. I have been so impressed by the amazing ideas these children have. It’s fascinating to hear how my students approach problems and explain concepts in their own words. I love the creative ideas they come up with for the world and I enjoy learning from them.

Students, especially young learners, vary a lot in abilities, readiness, interest and learning styles. The purpose of differentiation is to ensure that all students are provided with support and an appropriate level of challenge that will progress them to their next level of learning.

Hello, my name is Darryl “Diego” Wells, and I am originally from Toronto, Canada. I am so excited to be teaching Early Years and Elementary Physical Education at this impressive ISA Liwan. I join ISA with an amazing Chinese wife Donna, who is from nearby Shunde area. Both of us are overjoyed, knowing that our energetic and inquisitive 5-year-old son Maveric, will be starting out as a student in the early years programme, at this beautiful new campus.

I have been teaching physical education at international schools for more than 25 years. I have worked in 11 different countries: Bolivia, Canada, Ecuador, Ghana, Indonesia, Myanmar, Peru, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela and now about to start my 8th year teaching in China. I am eager to promote lifelong fitness, and the love of sport, for the students of the early years programme. I hope to harness their energy in a positive manner, to create an exciting, interactive, individualized physical education programme for each student.

The philosophy of ISA Liwan is a large reason why my family chose to be come to this incredible school. I am convinced ISA Liwan will be a special place for all who roam its classrooms and playing fields. It’s emphasis on catering the learning to the individual is a great way to ensure student success. This individualization of instruction will inevitably lead to a happy campus where students and staff are eager and energetic learners, teachers, and doers. It will also help foster growth in all our children and give them the best chance for them to reach their true potential.

One of my aims at ISA is to help convince students and parents, that being active, healthy, and happy, is a live long and achievable goal. I am extremely excited to be a part of the ISA Liwan family and hope to collaborate with you and your son/daughter to help turn this goal into a reality. Hi, my name is Ms Nasreen, I am a 29-year-old native English speaker who has taught in China since 2019. I have worked at the Canadian International Education Organisation and Springfield Kindergarten. I specialize in Early Years and love broadening the horizons of my wonderful students. Helping students become independent thinkers who can recognize their talents and use it to create a better world is what I enjoy doing, I feel that ISA shares that same passion therefore I am looking forward to being part of the ISA Liwan family.

Early Years students are full of energy and ready to learn, they make teaching fun. They are also at an age where emotional and personality is a crucial part of their development which brings joy to my heart and seeing my students grow mentally and emotionally is extremely rewarding. I appreciate the IB curriculum because it encourages students to do their best in an enjoyable manner; it is life long learning that goes beyond the traditional way of teaching.

When it comes to teaching, I lean more towards a personalized style of teaching, simply because it allows each student to optimise their pace and fully absorb the lesson which will eventually allow them to master the subject. We must admit that even though students are the same age and in the same class it does not mean that they are on the same intellectual level and that is why personalized teaching gives every student a fair chance to do their best without any pressure. It increases engagement, motivates students and improves their learning results.

Children are talented in one way or another and it is my duty as a teacher to help them discover their strengths and encourage them to use it to make the world a better place. What an honour it is to teach our future leaders.

Hi everyone, I am Sue from Hong Kong, China. I obtained my bachelor's degree and master's degree from Sun Yat-sen University and King's College London respectively, being proficient in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Since 2018, I have been actively engaged in early childhood education, and have been awarded as the most outstanding teacher. My students and colleagues describe me as a friendly and patient teacher with lively teaching method.

Whenever I notice students make progress under my guidance, the sense of achievement surged in my heart. Meanwhile, the innocence and curiosity of children can always make me feel the vitality of life. These reasons make me become more and more enthusiastic about early age education.

In teaching process, I attach great importance to cultivating students' ability to think independently and creatively. Meanwhile, I also help them develop proper learning habits, because it will have a long-term impact on children's learning efficiency. In addition, making teaching personalized according to individual's needs is  a teaching principle that I have always adhere to. I have a young child of my own and I love working with children. They bring us energy, love, and sweetness. I have been a teacher for 10 years, and teaching children has always been my first choice.

Hi, my name is Mr Simon, and I am from Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. In my free time I enjoy playing football and snowboarding when I can get somewhere cold. I have been living in China for the past eight years and have taught in various kindergartens in cities such as Beijing and Hangzhou. I chose to come to China due to the rich culture of the country and I have a particular interest in the Three Kingdoms period and to learn the language.

I am excited about joining the ISA Liwan family as it will provide me with new challenges and meeting new people. I am looking forward to meeting my students and being able to provide a positive impact on their development and their future.

I enjoy teaching Early Years students as it gives me the opportunity to set the future groundwork of their future education, helping them grow into people who will have a positive impact in the world and for the future generation. Hi, my name is Flora. Thank you for your support to ISA Liwan. As a member of Early Years team, a good teacher should be able to make a lesson fun. Especially for some younger children, we need more love, patience, and responsibility. I have 4 years’ experience working in international school. My mother language is Chinese, and I can speak Cantonese, English as well. I don’t want the children to come to school because they have to. I want them to come and enjoy learning.

In the Early Years I need to resolve a variety of different problems every day. These problems are not just about learning, which gives me a great challenge. I hope that by living with children, I can get to know them better. The accumulation of teaching experience. In the meanwhile, When I am living with them will make me feel happy.

In my opinion, communicators, inquirers and thinkers are the important skills to learn. Each kids needs different skills, and the teacher needs to evaluate them according to their actual situation.

Hello parents, my name is Mr Bjorn and many of the kids and staff know me as Mr B. I am a professional, passionate, and driven 32-year-old from South Africa. I have taught in China for almost 4 years now and it has been a wonderful experience.

Children have curious minds and I like to harness that curiosity by encouraging them to ask questions because every question is worth asking. Questions need answers and that allows students to explore their skills and come up with independent solutions. I believe that ISA develop open-minded students, sharing the same views that I do, I look forward to the journey ahead. Working hand in hand we can accomplish great things.

I absolutely enjoy watching my students grow into confident leaders filled with great personalities. Seeing them overcome many obstacles such as reading and writing in English, as well as being outspoken, truly makes me happy.

I focus on each student individually to assist them in the learning process, I find that this allows every student to fully understand each lesson, excel and bridge any gaps in their learning. Because not every student is on the same level and creating a healthy class environment is important.

Children are an absolute pleasure to teach, as all of them are so loving and kind. They are all active learners with great capabilities. There's nothing more rewarding than making a difference in the lives of our future generation and problem-solvers who are going to make the world a better place.

Hi, my name is Josie. I am cheerful and lively, honest and, I have a strong enthusiasm for education. I have worked as an Associate Teacher in an International school for more than 3 years. I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English fluently and I can understand a little bit of Japanese and Korean.

I believe that children are the most innocent people in the world, they thirst for knowledge, and they are the hope of the world. It is my great honor to be an associate teacher to impart knowledge and teach them to love each other in ISA Liwan. I think the most important skills for young children is that they learn how to express themselves and that they have a very happy childhood in ISA Liwan.

Hi, my name is Ms Melissa. I Was born and raised in South Africa and I speak fluent English and Afrikaans. My husband and I moved to Guangzhou 5 years ago and we recently welcomed our first child, a baby boy. I have a Bachelors Degree in Education and I specialized in teaching Early Years to Grade 3. I have 7 and a half years teaching experience. I taught in South Africa for 2 and a half years and in China at International Schools for 5 years.

I work hard to ensure lessons are student-centered and differentiated so that all students get the support they need and in turn have equal opportunity to be successful. I believe I am there to support my students as they discover and explore new ideas in a safe, welcoming classroom environment.

I enjoy teaching EY students, because I find that while children are young they are so open to learning and enthusiastic about exploring and questioning the world around them. This is a great time to foster a love for learning and to encourage them to think creatively.

Hi my name is Crystal. I am local of Guangzhou and became a member of ISA family in 2018. I major in Applied Psychology. Working closely with Psychologist and Occupational Therapists, I know developmental milestones and educational needs for early years students. I had been teaching the IB programme for six years and this is my fifth year teaching the British curriculum, which helps me build holistic understanding of how to conduct the IB system and UK platform.

Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Korean are the languages that I can use. I love teaching early years since young learners are always dedicated to the projects they are doing, and they enjoy sharing their ideas with people around them.

While working with early years students, I feel that social skills and basic learning skills such as eye-hand coordination are essential. With various activities, young children would be more capable to cooperate with classmates and get ready for primary schooling as well as lifelong learning.
