Happy moments always fly. It is unbelievable that we have come to the end of the third week of ISA Summer School. The interesting classes, fulfilling activities and heart-warming interactions between teachers and students are everywhere on campus. How achieved and amazing week it is for our children! 

欢乐美好的时光总是过的飞快,眨眼间,爱莎暑期班第三周也圆满落下了帷幕。通过生动有趣的课堂学习、丰富多彩的校园活动、和谐友爱的师生互动,孩子们在这一周也收获满满!

In Class One has focused on the letters, sounds and listen activities. We sang songs about a dog named Bingo, the alphabet, and phonics sounds. This week the children used letter stamps, letter stickers and threaded letters of the alphabet, using ribbon. We played listening games and identify the different sounds we heard such as animal and household sounds. The highlight was being able to splash in the pool and build on our water confidence.

Class 1的孩子们本周重点认识了字母,学习了他们的发音和激活了英语听力敏感度。周中我们还学唱了一首《宾果狗狗之歌》、把字母表和自然发音融入其中。动手方面,孩子们把字母卡片和贴纸用丝带串起来,方便记忆,也装饰了教室。此外还玩起了锻炼听力的游戏,并识别了生活中能听到的不同声音,像小动物发出的声音和家庭的声音。本周最精彩的瞬间莫过于是在泳池里泛起的水花,不仅让孩子们消暑也让他们在水中更悠然自得。

This week in class 2 we had great fun exploring our topic of ‘Wild Animals’. We shared stories and songs about wild animals learning new vocabulary our favourite was the book ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’. The students particularly enjoyed our swimming lesson on Friday! It’s has been lovely to meet new friends and have new experiences.

本周的Class 2孩子们探索了“野生动物”这个话题。围绕着这个话题,我们学习了很多相关词汇,听了故事也学习了有趣的歌曲,其中孩子们尤其喜欢的是《不会跳舞的长颈鹿》的故事本。本周五我们还举行了游泳课,孩子们特别喜欢。恭喜孩子们这周既增长了新体验,还认识了新朋友,真是愉快又丰富的经历!

Our theme for the week was TRANSPORTATION. The children learned about the different forms and types of transport in Guangzhou and around the world. We experimented with different designs of paper planes and decided to see how far they could fly in the Atrium. We also painted our very own yellow “Mercedes Class 3” car which looks very cool. We danced and sang to Laurie Berkner’s song ‘Drive My Car’, which we performed in assembly as well. Overall it was a superb week for Class 3 this week, making new friends and having a good time at ISA Summer School.  

第三周暑期班的主题是交通,目的是为了让孩子们能了解到广州和世界各地不同的交通方式和类型。为了更好的理解,我特意带着大家尝试去设计了各式各样的纸飞机,并到中庭广场放飞了它们,看着翱翔的纸飞机,孩子们都充满了欢声笑语。我们的学习当然不止仅限于“纸上谈兵”我们还为自己的打造了独一无二的黄色喷漆奔驰,酷炫至极!我们跟着Laurie Berkner的歌曲《Drive My Car》跳舞、唱歌,在集会上也表演了这首歌呢。这周对孩子们真的是充满活力且宝贵的一周,大家在暑期班里交到了很多新朋友,共同分享这一美好的回忆!

This week in English class, Class 4 practiced introducing themselves, their friends and family, and their interests. Classes 5 and 6 learned how to describe people's appearance by using basic adjectives. And Classes 7 and 8 learned how to describe the appearance of people and animals using more advanced adjectives.

本周Class 4的孩子们在英语课上练习了自我介绍、以及如何向别人介绍朋友和家人和自己的兴趣爱好。Class5和6的孩子们则学习了如何使用基本和简单的形容词初步描述人的外貌。Class 7和Class 8则向高阶迈进,学习了如何使用更丰富的形容词来描述人和动物的外表。

This week in math CLASSES 4-5 learned about the difference between length and height.  They also practiced measuring things with different units and found that a standard unit, like centimeters, is a good idea. CLASS 6 worked with fractions and was able to apply this new knowledge to what they learned about graphs last week. In CLASS 7 we found the importance of being able to share equally when we have things like a pizza divided into different parts (fractions). Perimeter and area were the focus for CLASS 8. They now have an understanding of the difference and that one is the distance of all the sides together (around), while the other is the space within the sides.

本周Class4-5的孩子们在数学课上学习了如何用数学表达身高的差异, 练习了用不同单位测量物体,仔这个过程中,孩子们发现用厘米测量和标识的确是较为规范和易懂的。Class6的孩子们则学习了分数,并且通过不断练习,把这一新知识应用到上周学习的图形中,大家都非常棒!Class 7的孩子们和我则使用了披萨这样具象化的物体来进行分数学习,我们发现了把披萨分成不同部分(分数)时,可以通过分数的原理和大家解释等分和均分是怎么用数学表达的。周长和面积的计算是本周Class 8的学习重点,学生们现在知道了周长则是图形的所有边在一起(的距离,而另一个是边围城的空间大小。

This week of UOI focused on adventures. Students in class 4 and 5 focused on camping. They learned new vocabulary associated with camping including equipment, locations and safety. They completed their adventure camping booklet that included a crossword puzzle, design your camping backpack, camping riddles and camp map design.

本周的UOI课程的主题为冒险。Class 4和Class 5的孩子们则联想到了露营,围绕着这个活动,大家了与许多新词汇,其中包括设备、地点和安全意识。此外,大家共同策划完成了一本露营守则,还设计了填字游戏,设计露营背包,露营谜语和露营地图等。


Students in class 6 and 7 focused on aspects of camping and survival adventures. Students learned about how to use different equipment for various scenarios. Class 8 and 7 identified the most useful equipment and used it to create a visual story based around their prescribed scenario. The scenarios included obstacles and a sense of environment for which the students had to use the selected equipment. 

Class 6和Class 7的学生则集中在了露营和生存冒险方面,大家学习了装备与设备的使用技巧,并解锁了其适配的各种场景。 孩子们在这个过程中做了类比,确定了最有用的设备,并使用它来创建一个具有障碍物且能用上所选设备的有趣场景。

This week in Literature, we learned and sang three songs: 'Creepy Crawlies', 'Kookaburra' and 'Feeling Groovy' by Simon and Garfunkel. Students listened to the songs and practiced singing the lyrics. Older students also practiced and performed a mini play called: 'Wings for the King'.

本周的文学课,我们学习并练唱了西蒙和加芬克尔的《毛骨悚然的小爬虫》、《笑翠鸟》和《感受妹美妙》三首歌曲。 伴随着伴奏,孩子们慢慢练习哼唱旋律与歌词。 高年级的孩子还练习并表演了一个名为《国王的翅膀》的迷你剧!

This week during IT class, we learned about 2 computer terms - bug and debugging.

Students can identify bugs in their lives, describe the characteristics of different bugs in their own words, and were able to distinguish between pests and beneficial insects. At the same time, they can understand the true meaning of bugs in the IT field. For those younger Class 4 and Class 5 students, they were encouraged to step up to the stage and did a story retelling of The first Computer Bug. They were encouraged to find mistakes and correct them in their daily activities such as Math homework and English sentence practice. For the older children in Class 6 to Class 8, they will add a hands-on computer activity to the basic instructional objectives mentioned above. They were divided into teams, and each team carefully identified bugs in two different programs and was able to fix them all. In this session, students learned to share the computer with their peers, improve their sense of teamwork, and develop the ability to work together to solve problems.

本周在IT课上,我们学习了两个计算机术语——bug和调试。通过本周学习,学生会辨认出生活中的虫子,会用自己的话语描述不同虫子的特点,能够区分害虫与益虫。同时,他们能够理解Bug在IT领域中的真正含义。对于较年幼的 Class 4 和 Class 5 的同学来说,老师鼓励他们勇敢地站到舞台上,做关于The first Computer Bug 的故事复述,鼓励他们在日常活动中的数学作业,英文句子练习环节等,找到错误并加以修改。对于Class 6 to Class 8 较大一点的孩子们来说,他们在前面提及的教学目标基础上,增加了电脑实操环节。他们被划分成不同的小组,每个小组会在老师给出的两种不同的程序中,仔细找出程序中出现的bug,并且能够在团队的帮助下,把这些bug全部修正。在这一环节中,学生们学习如何与同伴分享电脑,提高了团队合作意识,培养了共同解决难题的能力。

This week, we talked about the ocean in art class. We used paper plates as a background and created different sea creatures made of clay. Children used their imagination to recreate the ocean environment: the sea and the sky as a background, then gardens, trees, beaches and sea animals.

本周的美术课,我们一起遨游了海洋。纸盘是我们的基底,孩子们发挥想象力用粘土创造出不同的海洋生物,以海洋和天空为背景,然后是花园、树木、海滩和海洋动物,再现了海洋环境,好生快乐。


This week we learned the basics of jazz dance by enhancing the control of the body and the stability of the feet. Class 4 and Class 5 demonstrated a wonderful interpretation of the dance and their ability to perform in the assembly.

这周的舞蹈课,孩子们练习了爵士的基础舞步,通过不断加强身体的控制和脚的稳定性为未来的学习打下基础。Class 4和5的孩子们在汇报集会上还将展示他们对舞蹈的精彩诠释和表演。

In the third week of Summer School at ISASC, students in Drama began work on the development of their own scripts. The focus was on the elements of storytelling, character, setting and plot. Students also explored theatre games designed to encourage interaction and movement.

暑期班的第三周,孩子们在戏剧课上开始了自己的剧本创作之旅。首先我们把重点放在了重点放在了角色、场景和情节的这几个故事组成元素上,在这当中,学生们也玩了许多戏剧相关的游戏,侧面增强了大家的互动性和活动力。

The third week of ISA Summer School saw our class 10 bursting with young people aged 12-16. We were excited to welcome new faces from all over Guangzhou and also new students from ISA Wuhan! 


The whole week revolved around the key topic of “Hypotheses”. One “hypothesis”, many “hypotheses”; let us not forget our good grammar & correct spelling!


Hypotheses do not just form the framework of every science; they form the framework of each one of our lives! Not many people have pondered over this truth. 


“Will you help me study if I go to a foreign university?” is a simple example of a very plausible hypothetical question. 


Our students tried hard to devise more advanced examples of hypothetical questions, having good fun at the same time: 

“What would you do if your favourite girl found another boyfriend?” was one of their examples. Knowing what a hypothesis is and how it is constructed, allows our brain more room and more skill to face the hard realities of life. 


Towards the end of the week, we narrated together a Buddhist story from hundreds of years ago. It was about the crazy misunderstandings than can occur even in the simplest of circumstances!


Our class 10 students courageously endeavoured to retell this story which sounds easy but is in fact very hard to perform. We felt proud listening to them.  


Teacher Paris shared a secret with Class 10 students: We find real confidence in our lives, not before we try a challenge - confidence can be found only after we complete a challenge! And this is not a hypothesis; it’s a fact of life.  

本周是爱莎暑期班的第三周啦!本周Class 10真是注满了青春的活力,迎来了许多来自广州甚至是我们武汉爱莎的新同学们。


本周的学习内容主要围绕着“假想”这一主题展开。注意哦,“Hypothesis”单复数可不一样,在展开讨论时,可千万别忘记语法和正确拼写!


我们所提出的很多“假想”不仅奠定了一件件科学成果与发现的框架,它们也是我们生活中许多事物的组成框架,只是大家都不以为意。


举个常见的例子,我们经常提出的所谓的假设性问题:‘等我去上大学的时候,你能辅导我的学习吗?’

在探讨这假设性问题时,孩子们非常活跃,努力提出更多类似或进阶的问题,大家都感受到了学习的快乐。


其中还有一个有趣的问题:‘如果你喜欢的人谈恋爱了,怎么办?’我们会通过这些例子了解到假设的定义是什么,它是如何构成的,这可以让我们的大脑有所预备吸收更多的技能能够应对生活中的困难。


在本周四开始,我们开始讲了许多有关百年前佛教的故事,故事里充满了许多奇怪且疯狂的误解。


Class 10的学生们还大胆尝试了复述故事,听上去很容易,但绘声绘色地重现还是有很大难度的。当我看到他们展示自己的学习成果时,真是打心底里为他们感到骄傲。


通过本周的学习,Paris老师在这里想和Class 10的孩子们说个“悄悄话”:“自信并不是在接受挑战当下的感受,而是我们完成挑战后享受的甘甜!要记住,这是人生真理,可不是什么假设啦。”

This week during design class, class 9 and class 10 had to imagine what would a perfect classroom looks like, after this they proceeded to create 2 dimensional technical drawings of the elements the classroom would have, once they finished the drawings it was time to use the laser cut machine, 3D printer, cardboard, wood, clay and more to make a 3D scale model of the perfect classroom.

本周的设计课,Class 9和Class10班展开想象力,设想一间完美的教室应该是怎样的。在设想初步建立活,孩子们开始了在图纸上绘制设想教室中所有元素。绘图完成后,我们这回使用到了激光切割机、3D打印机、纸板、木头、粘土等材料,动手一齐把设想变成一个个3D雏形。

Class 9 students tried hard to solve Maths problems in different ways. And we had a many activities such as a small competition and barbecue party planning project to help them understand how to solve application math problems but also how to collaborate and be independent thinkers.

本周Class 9 的学生们正努力学习用不同的方法解决数学问题,我们举办了很多活动,比如一个小型数学比赛比赛和烧烤派对策划项目,帮助他们了解如何解决应用数学问题,以及如何合作和独立思考。 


For Maths this week, we jumped out of the box and started a new topic - A Career in Applied Mathematics. We started with the definition about what is applied mathematics, and we read about various careers in applied mathematics. We knew about their education backgrounds, job responsibilities and essential skills they need etc.. Then we picked the one we liked the most then share with our classmates why we chose it. Finally we finished our poster about our learnings regarding career in applied mathematics.

本周的Class 10的数学课,我们跳出常规展开探索了一个新的话题——应用数学的职业生涯规划。我们学习了什么是应用数学并了解了我们应用数学未来的各种职业规划。在了解了教育背景、工作职责和所需的基本技能后,我们选出了一个最心仪的职位规划,和我们的同学分享我们为什么选择它,最后还完成了关于应用数学职业规划的海报。

In IT this week, students learned about the basic idea of computer programming. They played a game called “Person and Machine “, learning how to give  instructions properly. students learnt gingerbread coding, and they set the personalised paths with treats and enemies on their gingerbread map. 

本周在IT课上,学生们学习了计算机编程的基本思维,还积极参与了一个叫做“人和机器”的游戏,学习如何正确地给出指令。此外,学生们学习了“姜饼编码”,他们在姜饼地图上设置了带有零食和敌人的个性化路径。


In IT, We continued working on our “Rock, scissor,paper” game. We designed how many players we gonna have in the game, how many rounds to go to have a winner and the visual look of our game. With these in our minds, we tried our best to put this into computer language.

在IT课上,我们继续完成我们的“石头,剪刀,纸”。我们这回添加设置了游戏中会有多少玩家,需要多少回合才能获胜以及游戏的视觉效果。带着摄像,尽我们最大的努力把它转化成计算机语言。

爱莎暑期班第三周

ASSEMBLY 学生展示集会

This Friday, the ISA Summer School students presented their learnings from the week at the Assembly to parents and teachers. It is surprising and pleasing to see how confident and devoted our children were during the performance. Parents are touched to witness all these moments. 

周五的学生展示集会上,爱莎暑期班的学生向在场的老师、同学和家长们展示了自己这一周以来的学习成果。孩子们充满自信、认真投入的模样不禁让不少家长惊叹,在爱莎这一周的学习和生活看到了孩子们的成长。


In ISA, students are always encouraged to confidently show their talents and ISA Summer School is the platform for them. By preparing and performing their learnings, students positively participated in cooperation and brainstorming processes, which has made learnings more fun and passionate.

爱莎一直鼓励学生展示他们的才能,暑期班的学生展示集会便是爱莎为学生提供的一个自我展示的舞台。学生通过不同形式的表演为自己一周的所学所感作出总结,在与老师和同学们的合作过程中迸发创意火花、增添学习兴趣与热情!
