The busy August is coming, and there are a lot of news faces on the ISA Liwan campus. During this whole month, the orientation, ice breaking and training sessions of new teachers are well-organized on campus. Sharing the common vision of education, the outstanding teachers around the world come to ISA Liwan and start a new journey.


进入紧锣密鼓的8月,爱莎荔湾迎来了许多崭新的面孔,从8月1日到8月26日,入职迎新、团建和培训都在有条不紊地进行。大量优秀师资从全球各地为了共同的教育梦想赶赴爱莎荔湾,开启了新的征程。

On the orientation on August 1st, Greg Zhang, Director of Education (China), ISAIEG, Secretary of ISA Wenhua Liwan School and Head of ISA Wenhua Liwan School, Michael Urquhart, Head of ISA Liwan International School and Co-Head of ISA Wenhua Liwan School, Myra Wang, Deputy Head of ISA Wenhua Liwan School and Principal of Secondary School, and Justin Wen, Head of Operations of ISA Liwan, welcomed all teachers to the school. ISA Liwan now owns more than 100 teachers with rich experience, of whom more than 50% are international teachers from 20 different countries and regions around the world.


8月1日,在爱莎荔湾新教师入职迎新大会上,爱莎国际教育集团教育总监(中国)、广州荔湾爱莎文华学校(筹)书记、广州荔湾爱莎文华学校(筹)总校长张柏祥先生,广州荔湾爱莎外籍人员子女学校(筹)校长、广州荔湾爱莎文华学校(筹)联席校长Michael Urquhart先生,广州荔湾爱莎文华学校(筹)副校长兼中学部校长王玉梅女士,和广州荔湾爱莎外籍人员子女学校(筹)、广州荔湾爱莎文华学校(筹)校务长文雪先生分别发表致辞,热烈欢迎各位老师来到爱莎荔湾。到目前为止,爱莎荔湾已经迎来超过100位具有丰富教学经验的老师,其中外籍教师的比例超过50%,他们来自全球20个不同的国家和地区。









In the all-staff training session, principals expressed their expection that teachers should participate in professional learning, research, professional development, and become a lifelong learner. Also, teachers in ISA Liwan should try to achieve these teaching expectations:

1. Class teaching is always student-centred and inquiry-based approach.

2. Students should be respected and encouraged,  and teachers  need to help students build up confidence and make progress.

3. Be prepared to differentiate teaching styles for different levels of students 

4. Regularly observes colleagues teaching classes.


在全员培训大会上,校长们表达了自己对老师们在爱莎荔湾不断提升自身专业水平,做终身学习者的期望。同时,他们还希望老师们在爱莎荔湾的教学管理上能够做到以下几点:

1. 始终以学生为中心,以探究为根本;

2. 尊重和鼓励学生,帮助学生树立信心取得进步;

3. 因材施教,为不同的学生提供不同的学习方式;

4. 主动旁听不同部门和学科的课堂教学。

How to establish an effective home-school 

communication system?

如何建立有效的家校沟通体系?

During our training sessions this week, Ms Angela, Principal of Early Years, shared the EY staff information handbook with the new teachers. She shared her understanding and experience of establishing and developing positive home/school links through daily communication using the class WeChat account.


Ms Angela also spoke about the parent information sessions that take place regularly throughout the school year which are designed to provide the parents with an understanding of how they can effectively support their child’s reading, writing and number skills at home.


爱莎荔湾幼儿园园长Angela女士向老师们展示了幼儿园员工手册,她分享了自己通过建立微信班级账号的方式与家长们日常交流和建立积极有效的家校沟通的经验。

 

同时Angela女士还表示,幼儿园会在每个学年定期举行家校交流见面会,旨在让家长了解如何在家更加有效地帮助自己的孩子提高阅读、写作的技巧和更好地掌握学数学的方法。

Everything we have been taught goes over these days, and I learned a lot from them. Like we learnt some IT tools which can help us in our teaching. Also, with the resources we are being allowed to use, it allows me to focus more on the class which can be student-centred, and it allows me to be more of a teacher and an educator. Which co-teaching model is the most

effective in class?

合作教学模式哪一种最有效?

Michelle, Deputy Principal of ISA Liwan Primary School, took the form of interaction and cooperation to lead teachers to discuss the six co-teaching models.


小学副校长Michelle采取互动协作的形式,带领老师们对合作教学的六种模式进行了深入的学习和探讨。


Each of these six models has its own characteristics and advantages, which will enhance individualised teaching. Also, teachers will be better able to apply different co-teaching models to their own subject according to the teaching content of their own class and the different levels of different students.


这六种模式各有其特点和优势,并能有效地促进个性化教学。相信小学部的老师们定能根据自己的教学内容和学生的实际情况,将不同的合作教学模式有效地运用到自己的教学中去。

The models shown are very helpful. Everyone went through something new, including myself. Hopefully, we can work together as a team, and create “one team one dream”. Our team should achieve a common goal, which is to help students better learn and understand the subject. So we continue to explore how to be more useful to students.

How can IB framework perfectly integrate 

with teaching plans of different curricula?

IB框架和各学科的教学计划如何完美融合?

MYP Coordinator Nicolette shared her experience on how IB curriculum concepts are implemented in different subjects and curricula plans, including MYP's requirements for each subject, how to make a unit planner, and the structure as well as the logic of the curriculum design.


国际文凭中学项目协调员Nicolette就IB的课程理念如何贯彻到每个科目和课程计划的实施分享了自己的经验,其中包括MYP对每个科目的要求,如何制作学科的单元计划,以及各个学科教学设计的架构和逻辑。

I benefit a lot from the training. First I have a deeper understanding of how to apply the concept of IB to curriculum planning. More importantly, I learned about the teaching needs of different subjects through the training, which makes us cooperate with each other in the process of teaching and encourages students to learn by analogy. And students can freely use their knowledge of different subjects to solve problems.

以上介绍的只是部分培训内容,全体教师还接受了入职行政事务培训,学生寄宿、学院制、人文心智关怀事务培训, 接下来老师们不仅会接受课程图撰写、学科融合、考试评估体系等教学培训,还会参加集团培训、学生关爱及安全管理培训、教学设备使用、各种专题研习会等全面且系统的培训。相信他们一定能有全面而深刻的收获,加上他们原来的杰出教育教学经验,这一定成为与爱莎教育集团、爱莎荔湾理念一致,且和爱莎荔湾一起成长的强有力师资团队,成为将集团和学校教育教学理念转化成学生成长成果的有生力量,成为学生全人教育的执行者和促进者。

These are some of the training, and all teachers had administrative orientation, boarding system training, house system training and pastoral care training these days. In the rest of this month, they will not only continue to have the training in curriculum mapping, curriculum integration and assessment making but also participate in organisational culture, students' safety and protection policy, teaching resources use, specialist interests conferences and other comprehensive and systematic training. They will definitely benefit from the training, coupled with their outstanding education and teaching experience, which will make them become a strong faculty team consistent with the education vision of ISA International Education Group and grow with ISA Liwan. This faculty team will be strong enough to transform these education concepts into the results of students' growth, and it will promote holistic education for students in ISA Liwan. 


The journey of building a century-old famous school begins with faith and hope. The team carries the vision of "Uphold peace whilst connecting to the world and create enjoyable life to all", and undertake the historical mission of "cultivate future innovators, leaders, lifelong learners, and achieve their dreams", and now start their own journey to pursue their education dreams in ISA Liwan.
