我是一位经验丰富的法语和西班牙语教师。在我22年的教育生涯中,有11年是中学教学。我在培养和启发学生方面颇有心得。我会教孩子们语言和相关文化,培养他们在法国生活和学习的能力。在中国,我有9年在中学和大学的教学经验。其中,在佛山的一所高中,我用了8年的时间为学生准备高考、法国文凭和考试(如DELF、TCF),并且培训他们参加法国大学的面试。我曾在东莞理工学院-法国国立工艺学院联合学院(CNAM)任教,后者是建造埃菲尔铁塔的工程师古斯塔夫·埃菲尔的母校

另外,我曾在中国的一所中学(佛山)担任法语组长,负责管理法语教师团队并为学生去法国留学做准备。

22 years of experience teaching French and Spanish in high school, middle school, and university in France, Thailand, Mexico, Singapore and China (9 years).

3 years of experience as Head of French Department in a Chinese High School (Foshan).

I first got graduated in Physical Sciences in a Rennes University. Then I specialized in Education of French language for foreign learners, I got a master’s degree from Rouen University in France. Later, I got an Engineering Master's Degree in E-Learning from Montpellier University (all universities in France).

I am an experienced teacher of foreign languages mainly in French but also in Spanish, as I taught them for 22 years including 11 years in high school and middle school with proven abilities in fostering and inspiring learners, giving the students the language and cultural background to be able to live and study in France. Here in China, I have 9 years of experience teaching to Chinese students in high school, middle school, and university. Among them, in a Chinese High School in Foshan, for 8 years I prepared the students for the Gao Kao and French Diplomas and Tests (like DELF, TCF), and training them for the interview with French universities. In Dongguan I taught to university students in a program with CNAM, a well-known engineering school in Paris where Gustave Eiffel studied (he is the engineer who built the famous tower in Paris).

I also have 3 years of experience as Head of French Department in a Chinese High School (Foshan) managing the French teachers’ team and preparing the students to go studying in France.

All these years, in China and in the other countries I worked, I organised cultural and linguistic activities in the school and with other institutions and arranged exchange programs with French high schools. I am a responsible and dedicated teacher with a strong background at developing, planning, and executing innovative pedagogical contents and proficient in official exams preparation procedures with solid skills to create an encouraging learning environment to help students to achieve their highest potential.

The IB learner profile I want for my students is to be communicators, so during the lessons we practice the language all the time. For that, I encourage them to be inquirers and reflective students. Moreover, I want to give them the desire to learn by themselves and develop their motivation.

我曾担任过学科组长、年级长、安全办主任、德育主任等职务,所教学生多人在全国中学生日语作文大赛、翻译大赛等赛事中获得卓越成绩,多人在中学阶段日语能力考试中考取了N2、N3等级证书,不少学生进入了日本东北大学等知名学府。“爱与责任”是我从教的核心原则。


我曾经遇到过一位刚开学就以各种理由请假的学生。经观察发现,该名学生性格比较内向,在校期间经常独来独往,成绩中等水平。跟家长沟通后,我了解到家长因工作繁忙,感觉亏欠孩子,所以只要孩子提出不想去上学,都会给孩子请假。通过家访沟通,家长明白了这种做法的危害性。同时我给该名学生安排了一位擅长交际的同桌,课下找他谈心,并在课上特意叫他回答问题,增加他的成就感。慢慢地,学生不再随意请假,其成绩也逐步上升。


世上没有两个完全相同的人,每名学生都是带着各自的性格气质走进教室。作为教师要学会因材施教,用发展的眼光看待每一名学生。我认为只有真正站在学生立场去思考教学,才能促进学生身心健康发展。

I graduated from Northeast Normal University with both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. I have worked in a key public school for 8 years and a quality private school for 3 years. And I ever served as subject group leader, grade leader, safety director, and moral education director. I believe that love and responsibility are the core of teaching. 

I had a student who asked for leave with various reasons at the beginning of a semester. I noticed that he was very introverted and always alone in school. After communicating with parents, I realized that his parents were too busy on work to look after him. Thus, they usually granted most of his request as a compensation. I visited his family and told the parents that it would affect children badly. Besides, I let an active student become his desk mate. I asked him to answer questions often in class to increase his sense of accomplishment. And I chatted with him after class to make sure his mental wellbeing. Gradually the student stopped asking for leave randomly, and he got better grades.    

There is no two identical people in the world. Every student enters the school with their own personalities. Teachers should really love students and be willing to be responsible for their lives. Therefore, education should not be "one size fits all". Only when we consider teaching from students’ position, can students' physical and mental health be promoted.

大家好,我是Sharon。从2014年起,我在北京和上海的顶尖K-12国际学校担任创始音乐老师。来中国之前,我在菲律宾教过乐队、管弦乐队和IGCSE音乐。


在成为一名教师之前,我在圣保罗大学和圣斯考拉斯蒂卡学院教长笛。我是一名专业的长笛演奏家,曾在卡内基音乐厅和林肯中心与各大管弦乐团合作演出。最近,我被评选作为世界上最优秀的指挥家之一去参加国际比赛。

I have been a founding music teacher in top K-12 international schools in Beijing and Shanghai since 2014. Before coming to China, I taught band, orchestra, and IGCSE music in the Philippines. I have category I and II certificates from MYP and IBDP and have taught DP Music programs for six years.

Before becoming a teacher, I taught flute at St. Paul and St. Scholastica University. I am a professional flutist who has performed with major orchestras at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Recently, I was chosen as one of the top conductors in the world to compete in an international competition. I graduated from the pre-college division of Juilliard School and Columbia University with a Master of Arts and Master of Education.

My philosophy in teaching music is to allow students to enjoy music by creating, performing, and sharing. Activities involving learning new instruments and singing are essential for the younger students. For the MYP students, students will be learning to express who they are and learn to communicate their ideas by learning music from a different culture. They will learn to share their thoughts through MYP group projects involving music technology. The program will help students to prepare for IBDP Music, CAS, and TOK in high school.

作为一名教师,令我印象深刻的是一名非常害羞且有语言障碍的孩子。课堂排练的第一天,我就能感受大她对音乐和舞蹈的热情。通过一节又一节的课程,我看到她开始自如地参与并组织小组讨论,增强自信心。她拥有非常聪明和富有想象力的大脑,创造力不断地从她身上涌现出来。渐渐地,她重拾自信,进步卓然。


我很确信她的热情比她的技巧更为重要。上台表演的时候,她带着自信,为我们呈现了一场有趣、引人入胜的表演,在舞台上焕发光芒。我为此感到非常自豪。


通过创造性的发展,我看到了她在沟通、自信和团队合作等社交技能方面的提高,也看到了她在解决问题和创造力方面的智力发展。


学生可以通过讨论性格发展去了解社会行为的重要元素。我们课堂上的活动都是以学生为中心的。我们鼓励他们研究戏剧行业的所有领域,课堂上我们会指导他们,也让他们自由地去摸索从而找出自己的答案。


有创意的教育能够帮助学生塑造自我、表达自我以及与他人合作。此外,他们所学习到的一切,亦将会积极影响到他们未来的表现和发展。我将每一位同学看作独立的个体,欢迎他们的到来。我相信,他们在表演艺术之旅所学到的东西,必将会深刻影响着他们的未来。

After graduating, I have been working as an actor working ensemble and leading roles in both plays and musicals.

In 2015, I first started teaching in China: Beijing, Fuqing and Foshan. Working as Musical Director, choreographer, drama facilitator and singing teacher. Musical Director for 3 original musicals created for Primary/Middle Schools associated with Beijing Normal University. 

A key moment for me, as a teacher, was working with a child who was very shy and who had some language difficulties. From the first day of rehearsals I could see her passion for music and dance. Through the classes I watched her grow in confidence as she began comfortable to contribute to and lead group conversations; she clearly had a very bright and imaginative brain. Eventually I could see there was a lot of creativity dying to come out. Slowly, slowly she gained confidence and we were all aware of her improvements.

When it came to the performance I was confident that her passion was more important than her abilities. She shone! An funny, engaging performance - full of confidence. Seeing her climb to be one of the best performances in the show, I was incredibly proud.

Through creative development I have seen improvement in social skills such as communication, confidence and teamwork as well intellectual development in problem solving and creativity. 

Discussing character development students will understand important elements of social behaviour. The activities we cover in class are extremely student-centered. They are encouraged to research all areas of the theatre industry. They will be directed but also free to reach their own outcomes.

Creative education will build who they are, how they express themselves and how they work with others. Furthermore, everything they learn and improve upon actively contributes to their performance and development. Every student is welcome and will be seen as an individual; their personal journey with the performing arts will be directly influenced by who they are as a person.

A European artist from Serbia, I graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad, with a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts.

During my career I’ve exhibited my art throughout Europe, America, Saudi Arabia and have had the pleasure and unique opportunity to exhibit my work in China. My work incorporates large abstract collage canvases inspired by my stay in China, as well as a series of unique concept art drawings. 

My current project, "The Master of Unknown Space", is based on my time and personal experiences while living in China. The artwork correlates with the primal forces of nature and the elements. The collage paintings are an invocation of the energies that correlate with the place of my current stay and the vision that comes with it. Through the use of color and action the artist tries to invite and entice the audience into the visual landscape; an unknown place waiting to be manifested, in order to involve them in the experience of different space. My new project involves an exploration of language and deconstruction inside the medium of Painting and Different materials. The Idea of deconstructing and constructing new visual language.

I have been a teacher for over 13 years. I possess a bachelor’s degree in History and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I have also earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Texas. I have taught World History, US History, Geography, Humanities, Social Studies, and English Language Arts from students in Year 4 all the way up to Year 11.

I originally taught in the USA for two years and then moved to China in 2011. Since then, I have been delivering the best educational experience I can for international schools all over the country. I originally worked in Yantai for three years, then Guangzhou for two years, then one year in Shanghai, and five years in Beijing. I am extremely happy to be back in Guangzhou to continue my international teaching. This city is by far one of my favorite places in all of China and I cannot wait to meet the first students at ISA Liwan!

I believe in creating a learning environment that inspires and motivates students to learn and gives them the chance to take responsibility for their own learning. I focus my lessons on the students’ needs and work closely with them to help them find success. The world is ever-changing, and education is changing right along with it. I believe it is important to adapt and bring in fresh ideas into the classroom and give students the opportunity to engage with the latest educational programs and techniques. I expect all my students to give 100% of their effort into my lessons, that way they will have all the tools they need to make excellent grades! Every child deserves a great education, and I will do my best to make that a reality!

I graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University for Master of Education. I’ve engaged in education industry for almost 5 years. I have ever participated in the whole process fo IB project authorization and implementation, worked as the ATL project coordinator and community design supervisor. I won the Personal Outstanding Interdisciplinary Achievement Award, participated in the Guangdong Province International Curriculum Development and Research Project, and was appraised as excellent teacher and an excellent subject group leader for several times.

I concern the all-round development of each student with a highly responsible attitude. In the teaching, I adhere to the philosophy of "student-oriented, education first, pragmatic and innovative development", I work with full devotion and flexible teaching methods in education which were highly appreciated by students and the peers. In the classroom, I lead my students to be the main in teaching and make the class full of tension and vitality. I use refined, accessible and meaningful language to make students resonate in their thoughts.

In the teaching process, I focus on cultivating students' humanistic spirit and positive attitude towards life, helping students to shape a strong will and a spirit of unity and cooperation. 关于这种教学方式,我最难忘的经历是在 2019 年,在向 11 年级的学生教授创业和市场营销课程知识时,我们决定将理论带到现实生活中实践。学生们被分成几个小组,每个小组制定自己的商业理念,将课堂上的理论知识运用到商业计划中。3 个月后,去参加爱尔兰青年企业奖比赛的小组当中,有 2 个小组在我们的指导下进入了决赛。


展望未来,我希望爱莎荔湾的每一位学生都能享受学习商务和经济学的乐趣,了解这些学科在我们身边以至于世界当中的实际应用。我希望能提高学生在课后参与我们科目学习的热情。通过这种方法,我们可以最大限度地提高学生在商务和经济学方面的学术和专业能力。

I am from Ireland and I undertook my professional studies in the University of Limerick Ireland, where I graduated with a Master' s in Education.

I have been teaching for 5 years across Ireland and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. I have experienced many different curriculums of which IB is the one that I am the strongest advocate of.

I believe a student led approach to learning is most suitable for the academic and professional development of each student. My most memorable experience of this teaching style was in 2019 while teaching Entrepreneurship and Marketing to a Grade 11 class, we decided to bring the theory to a real-life practical approach.

The students divided into groups and formulated their own business ideas, each group would they implement the theoretical knowledge from the classroom into their own business plans. 3 months later those groups entered the Young Enterprise Awards in Ireland where 2 of the groups qualified to the finals in our providence.

Looking forward, I hope that each student in ISA Liwan will enjoy learning about Business and Economics and understand the practical application these subjects have on the world around us. I hope to foster the student’s willingness to engage in our subjects beyond the coursework. With this approach we can maximize the students’ academic and professional development in Business and Economics.

作为CAIE的副考官,我非常了解考试的要求。但我不相信教学,我相信学习。通过考试是最低要求。课堂应该以学生而非教师为中心。无论一个概念被重复多少次,如果学生不懂加以应用,就相当于没有学习到。教师是学习的促进者。我们引导学生进入学科,激发他们的兴趣,帮助他们打好基础,更重要的是引导学生构建自己的知识。这就是学生能顺利通过牛津剑桥面试的原因。


几年前,我的一位学生在课堂上很安静。她既不参加小组、课堂讨论,也不主动回答问题。开学后的第二周,我看到她站在报告厅的讲台上向全校介绍羽毛球俱乐部。我突然意识到她不是一个害羞的人,而她在我的经济学课上如此安静一定是有原因的。课后,我告诉她我很喜欢她的演讲,如果她能在经济学中做同样的事情,我会很高兴。我希望能够看到她主动加入到讨论当中,此外,我还向她解释了提问和组织讨论的目的。


她向我敞开心扉,告诉我她担心如果她回答错误,同学们可能会嘲笑她,或者老师(我)可能会惩罚她。作为一名教师,为学生提供一个安全舒适的环境至关重要。我建议她可以先观察,如果她感到还不够自在,可以暂时不发表意见。过了一周,她开始慢慢加入到课堂讨论中,在这期间,我也没有轻易评判她回答的对错。我在她回答正确的时候给与肯定,在她回答错误的时候引导她找到正确的答案。最终,她成为了我们班的踊跃参与者。


传统的讲授式课堂几乎没有为瞬息万变的 21 世纪所需的可转移技能和创造力留下空间。我希望我的学生在离开爱莎荔湾的时候,已经完全具备了未来所需要的技能,成为独立、懂得关爱和协作的世界公民。

I am Economics teacher Yan Wang from ISA Liwan. I graduated with a BSc from University of St Andrews and a MSc from Warwick University. I have a PGCEI from Nottingham University and a learning and teaching certificate from Cambridge University. I have been teaching Economics for eight years and held the position of Head of Department (HOD) in Ulinkcollege Guangzhou. Many of my students was admitted to Oxford, LSE, UCL and etc.

As an associate examiner of CAIE, I understand requirements of exams very well. But I do not believe in teaching, I believe in learning. Passing exams is the minimum requirement. A class should be student-centred rather than teacher-centred. No matter how many times a concept was taught, if students could not apply the knowledge, learning did not occur. Teachers are facilitators of learning. We lead students to the subject, arouse their interests, help them to build foundation and more importantly we guide students to construct their own knowledge. This is the reason why students can successfully pass their Oxbridge interviews.

A Few years ago, one of my students was so quiet in class. Neither did she join group/class discussion nor answer questions unless she was called upon. In the second week, she stood on stage of the lecture hall and introduced badminton club to the whole school. I suddenly realized that she was not a shy person. There must be a reason why she was so quiet in my Economics class. I had a conversation with her. I prized her for her speech and told her that I would be thrilled if she could do the same thing in Economics. I would like to see ideas volunteered. In addition, I explained purposes of asking questions and organizing discussions.

She opened up to me and told me her concerns. She was so afraid if she was wrong, her peers may laugh at her, or the teacher (me) may penalize her. As a teacher it is very important that a safe and comfortable environment is provided to students. I told her that she can observe first, she did have to speak if there was anything holding her back. After another week, she started to contribute ideas to the class. No matter whether her answer was right or wrong, I did not judge it. If her answer was right, I acknowledge her achievement. If her answer was incorrect, I guided her to find the right answer. Finally, she became one of the major contributors of our class.

The traditional lecture-style classroom leaves little room for transferable skills and creativity which are required in the ever fast changing 21st century. I hope my students, by the time they leave ISA Liwan, they are fully equipped with the skills that are necessary for the future. They are Independent, caring and collaborative global citizens.

教学和创造学习环境是一个涉及学生、家长和学校管理层的过程。我们需要互相支持,创造一个积极向上的环境。我坚信教师可以依靠学生的反馈来创造一个相互信任和尊重的环境——学生可以成为验证课堂教学法是否有效的宝贵资源。因此,我在教学过程中也一直鼓励合作和相互了解。

I majored with MS in Mathematics and Master of Computer Applications. I obtained my teaching certificate (PGCE) from University of Sunderland and is currently in last phase of my PhD in Statistics. I have more than 17 years of teaching experience in Mathematics, Statistics and Computers. I have ever taught undergraduate students at University of Mississippi and later at State University of New York where I was conferred with best Lecturer award 3 years in a row. In China, I have experience working with different curriculums (IB, AP, A-level, Australian National Curriculum). During this period, I have worked as the Mathematics Coordinator (HOD) for more than 8 years. I am very passionate about my students learning and emphasizes on the use of mathematics through collaborative work. My hobbies are long drives, travelling and working on scientific articles.

To cater to the needs of my students and school, I once designed the curriculum and compiled two mathematics books also that are still being used by students in my previous working place. While working with DP students in one of my past IB schools, as the cohort was small (8 students) I designed individualized teaching plans for each student and worked with them one-to-one to help them achieve their goals. Each student had different level of mathematics, English abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Six students ended up with a grade of 7 and other two with grade of 6.

Teaching and creating a learning environment is a process that involves students, parents and school management. We need to support each other to create a positive and nurturing environment. I strongly believe that a teacher can create an environment of mutual trust and respect by relying on students for feedback - students can be a valuable resource for verifying whether the class pedagogy is working. My teaching process encourages a relationship of cooperation and mutual discovery.

My name is Andy. I graduated from the University of California with a major in education and graduated from 211 University with a bachelor's degree. I have a dual degree in both education and management, and hold a high school mathematics teacher qualification certificate and an international English teacher qualification certificate. IELTS band 8. I used to be a bilingual mathematics teacher in the International Department of Guangzhou Foreign Languages School. The A-level class I took was 100% A rate in pure mathematics and 90% A rate in further mathematics, far exceeding the global average. The AP statistics class I took had a 4+5 score rate of 67%, far exceeding the global average. I also won the title of Guangzhou Foreign Language School Outstanding Contribution Award.

In my teaching career, I have become more accustomed to being a life mentor to my students, not just a teacher. Students often say that in my classes, what they have learned is not only the ability of mathematics, but also the philosophy of life. What impresses me most is that when I decided to leave the teaching position of Guangzhou Foreign Language School, the students gave me a pennant with the words "Gold medal teacher, spring breeze and rain, frequent golden sentences, the strongest in the universe". It is the best summary of my teaching career and the best recognition from my students, and I have learned a lot from them when they are learning mathematics from me.

在我之前的学校有一位六年级的学生,她不是特别擅长运动。她很难交到朋友,因此在体育课上她感到被排斥在外。我决定花更多的时间帮助她提高一些体育相关的技能,比如手眼协调能力、游戏和运动技能。我额外花时间和她打羽毛球,看着她慢慢进步。当她逐渐掌握技巧的时候,她很快就加入到了其他同学的运动当中,从而使她与其他学生建立了宝贵的关系。她感觉不那么被排斥了,她对体育的整个态度也改变了。我很高兴能参与到她的成长过程中,作为一名教育工作者,我为能在学生的生活中产生影响而感到自豪。

I was born in South Africa and speak Afrikaans and English. I Moved to Guangzhou 5 years ago with my wife and I am a father to a little baby boy. I Hold a Bachelors of Education from the University of Arizona and a Diploma in Sport Management from the Nelson Mandela University in South Africa.

I specialized in school Sport Coordination and coaching in South Africa. I specialize in primary and junior high PE teaching in China. I am determined to improve the individual performances of students/athletes in sports by teaching them the physical and mental skills needed. I love seeing students reach their full potential. Relationship building is one of my core strengths. My classroom has solid routines, and all my students are safe and able to successfully participate in the lesson.

I had a grade 6 student in my previous school who was not particularly sporty. She struggled making friends and she felt excluded in our PE class because of this. I decided to spend more time helping her improve some PE related aspects such as her hand eye coordination and her game and movement skills. I spent extra time playing badminton with her and she quickly improved. When she started playing better, she could soon play with other students, and this led to her building valuable relationships with other students. She felt less excluded and her whole attitude towards PE changed. I am happy to have been a part of her growth process and feel proud as an educator to have a made a difference in a student’s life.

I believe in building valuable relationships with students. Once a strong relationship has been built, a student will give you their very best. If a student gives you their very best, they will not fail. I plan to keep building these great relationships with each individual student in order to bring out the best of both me as a teacher and them as students.

我的课堂注重培养基础体能,发展运动兴趣。我希望每个孩子都能在我的体育课中释放天性,也相信体育对孩子的塑造是全方位的。2018-2020年,我曾带领自己班的40个学生,连续三年,每天清晨进行体能训练,从开始的排斥拒绝到积极主动,三年过去,孩子们逐渐变得强壮和自信,学习成绩也显著提高,更重要的是他们变得更加团结和有责任感,这让更加我坚信体育教育的重要性。

Hello I am Enda, PYP and MYP PSPE teacher, I graduated from Guangzhou Sports University, majoring in swimming and tennis. I have been engaged in sports education for nearly 10 years, and organized various sports training in China, Dubai and Australia. I'm proficient in many sports such as rugby, floor ball, Gaelic football and ultimate Frisbee. I played for the Chinese Australian Rules national team in the top three of the 2017 International Cup.


In 2018-2020, I led my class of 40 students, for three consecutive years, every morning for physical training, from the beginning to the exclusion of refuse to proactive, in the past three years, children gradually become strong and confident, also significantly improve grades, more important is that they are more unity and a sense of responsibility, the more I believe that the importance of physical education.


Sport is the common language of society and one of the best tools to integrate into international multicultural culture. ISA Liwan provides students with top-class sports hardware facilities and diversified international sports programs. Ms. Wang graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona with a master's degree in social psychology. 

Ms. Wang has been engaged in education and psychological counseling for many years. She has many years of teaching experience in schools in Spain and Germany. She has received systematic and professional training in the field of psychological counseling, including psychoanalysis, humanism, behaviorism, group counseling and crisis intervention. Her main consulting areas include scientific parenting, personality issues, adolescence, family relations, environmental adaptation, emotional management, and interpersonal relationships.

In my educational career, I often encountered some students who violated the class rules. In face of such problems, what we shall do first is not to think about how to punish them, but to explore the reasons behind such behaviors.

In the process of learning and growth, every student will inevitably make "mistakes". This is a normal educational phenomenon. It’s the emergence of every such problem that expands the knowledge of a student. Punishment would not deter bad behavior, it could only make a child to be more cautious to make mistakes and try to hide his mistakes. Aversion to students’ mistakes is the biggest "mistake" in education.

I’m good at paying attention to the development of each student, and using heuristic, experiential, and inquiry-based teaching methods to instruct students to learn to look at the world from a new perspective and make self-reflection by themselves. I also care about the mental health of students and encourage their self-expression, to help every student to develop and grow in ISA with no limitation.

I am from the warm and beautiful Kingston, Jamaica. I have been teaching for the past 15 years. During my teaching career, I have worked in four different countries namely: Jamaica, England, the United States, and China.

My educational background consists, of a Ph.D.in physics (Alternative energy) from Atlantic international university  USA, and an MSC in chemistry ( majoring in chemical physics ) from Grand Canyon University Arizona USA.

During my spare time, I enjoy looking at the night sky using my telescope, reading science books, watching forensic files, doing complex mathematical calculations, and playing soccer.

My teaching experience entails physics, chemistry, mathematics, and different levels.

Branches of philosophy such as metaphysics, epistemology, and logic are the set of fundamentals that influence my philosophy of teaching. My philosophy seeks to provide answers to the following: how orderly should my classroom be? How do scientists do science?  Should I use deductive or inductive reasoning in my lessons? How can I understand the ways my students are reasoning?

The answer to the question of how scientists do science integrates Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory of human learning which emphasizes collaboration. My students, working as young scientists, need to work in groups to improve their science process skills. To be effective science educators, students must be allowed to work in groups and take responsibility for their learning.

The teaching of science requires the use of deductive or inductive reasoning; this is done to integrate the use of logic in my classroom. Inductive reasoning uses patterns to conclude while deductive reasoning uses facts, or properties to conclude. When solving a problem, one must understand the question, gather all relevant facts, and analyze the problem i.e., compare it with previous problems (note similarities and differences).

In summary, I truly believe that education should involve more collaboration and less competition. I also believe that schools should promote more comprehension rather than just the regurgitation of facts. Students should accept responsibility for their learning.

从那天起,我决定我不仅要获得知识,而且要成为提供知识的人,给予学生认识世界的机会。

Why did I come to teaching?

When I was a middle school student my friends were going to a park for a party. I was not allowed to go because I didn’t finish my school homework and my piano lessons. I was extremely upset and frustrated. I wanted to have fun and be cool among my peers.

When I started crying my Dad came to me and said: “Listen, when you will get 30 nobody will remember whether you were in the park at that day or not, and it will not be a measurement of coolness. What will really make you cool when you grow up is your knowledge, this is what you can be cool at and people will respect you. Knowledge is something that will never expire ones you get it, nobody can take it away from you, and it is something that will always be at a high price.”

Since that day I decided that I do not only want to get knowledge, but also want to be the one who is providing it, giving students opportunity to learn the world.

我本人擅长理科同时兼修心理学,并且是国家二级游泳运动员,擅长自由潜。在不同学科的学习过程中,我感受到了同一事物的不同方面。我觉得学习的愉悦在于感受更多的事物,以不同的学科形成不同的世界观,进而能以不同的视角去看更大的世界。所以我很希望能够以身作则,和孩子们一起去探索更大也更多元的那个世界。让我们一起从自己的内在花园走出,去探索更大的世界,去探索更多的融合。

Sampson,a physics and chemistry teacher in the Middle School Division in Guangzhou ISA Liwan International School, is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He has worked in a well-known international school in Guangzhou for 5 years. Familiar with the science curriculum of MYP and DP. During his studies in China, he won a silver award and a bronze award in the Chinese Chemistry Olympiad Competition of 2009 and 2010 respectively. And as a member of the Chinese team,he used to participate the United States Mathematical Modeling contest. During his work, he worked as a coach, used to help students to win the Hua Luogeng’s Gold Cup, British Physics Olympiad (bronze and silver award), Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (bronze and silver award) and Junior Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (Gold award).

What experience have impressed me in my teaching work? Last year, I had a student, an excellent students who extremely good at science and won the national championship of Vex Robot Competition and the Physical Bowl Competition, but also afraid of taking risk. Because we share same interests our teacher-student relationship is very good. Last year, we had a comprehensive practice course, and students needed to climb under the guidance of coach. But this student feared of it. Sport is also something that I am very interested in, so I can appreciate the pleasure that sports bring us. That kind of joy? It’s totally different with what science can bring us. I don’t want them to lose it. So I encourage him that I finish it first then he can follow me. He said yes and he actually follow me after I finished. But he felt like cannot overcome the fear at the middle of the mountain, he just stopped there at that time. So I also encourage the whole class to help him to encourage him. At the very ending he gather himself again and achieve it. His parents told me that he never tried this thing before. Both the parents and the kid feel appreciate for it.

I have a major of science, also a national first-class of swimmer and good at diving and drifting. The process of my study lead me to use different aspect of acknowledge to aware the same thing. It help of to aware the diversity of culture、people and so on. And also lead to into a bigger world from different perspective. I just like this kind of feeling. As the result, I am also sincerely hoping that I can also lead my student to feel this kind of feeling. Try new thing and enjoy the bigger world.

I'm Katherine, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree, and graduated from Beijing University of Posts and telecommunications with a bachelor's degree. I hold a high school information technology teacher's certificate, and my GRE score is 1450 (globally top 5% ). I have eight years of working experience in technology enterprises, including one year in Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. I used to be an AP Computer Science Teacher in AP department of Guangzhou Experimental School. The 4 + 5 score rate of the AP Computer Science Class I taught was 58%, which was far higher than the global average. I firmly believe that every student is the guide of the future. The "secret" of the success of moral education is that when a person is still in his youth, we should show him the prospect of future life in the grand social life background.

In my teaching career, I like to integrate the latest development of technology and real technology projects into teaching, rather than just teaching computer science knowledge. I hope that students will learn not only knowledge, but also logical engineering thinking and computational thinking ability, and can apply what they have learned to solve problems in real technology world.

在与孩子相处的过程中,我更倾向于对孩子们有序思维、动手能力以及生命安全意识的培养,而不仅仅是关注其实验结果。我认为,学生如果只是按照老师给的指引步骤,按部就班地展开实验,是远远不够的。一项研究的开展,无论是想要验证某些结论或是探索新领域,从搜索资料、制定实验计划到得出实验结论,中间总会存在许多困难和失败。作为爱莎的老师,我们不能忽视实验的探索过程,哪怕它具有一定的挑战性。因为我们想要的不仅是实验的结果,更是引导学生成为独立思考、勇于探索、具有统筹能力以及全面发展的未来领导者。

I am Joy, graduated from Jinan University with a dual-degree in both engineering and law, and have conducted research on microbiology in the Dean's Lab of the International College, during which I had in-depth cooperation with foreign professors and the research results were recognized by professors in a specific area.

When working with children, I focus on the cultivation of children's critical thinking, manipulative ability, and awareness of life safety, rather than the results of the experiment. I believe that students just following steps given by the teacher during the lab work is not enough. There are always many difficulties and failures when conducting a research project, whether you want to verify certain conclusions or explore new areas, from searching for information, making an experimental plan to making a conclusion. As teachers in ISA, we cannot ignore this challenging exploration process in our experimental work, because what we want is not the result of certain experiment, but for our children to become well-rounded future leaders who can think independently, dare to leap, and have management ability.

In the future at ISA, I will create a safe experimental environment for our children to explore their interest in science. And the role I want to play is that of an influencer for the children, but not a dictator.
