上周,10年级的学习生物的学生就“集约化农业”进行了辩论。这属于生物学中的生态学部分。在学习了集约化农业的定义之后,他们用了一周的时间准备了一场辩论。当天,他们分为两组,正方介绍了集约化农业的优势,反方说明了它的劣势。在开篇立论和首轮双方陈述之后,还有自由辩论环节供双方互相提问、回答。讨论了所有要点之后,进入了结辩环节。学生们在本场辩论中的表现都很出色。他们不仅考虑了“集约化农业”的所有生物学影响,还延伸到了经济和道德影响。


Biology | Learning from Debating

Last week, year 10 students in biology class did a debate about “Intensive farming”. This belongs to Ecology part in Biology. After learning the definition of “intensive farming”, they used one week to prepare the debate. During the class, they have been divided into two teams, positive sides introduced the advantages of intensive farming, however the negative sides illustrate the disadvantage of it. After opening and first two statements, they also had a free debate part which they can ask questions or respond to previous questions. After all points were made, closing statement were followed. They all made a fabulous performance in this debate. Besides all the biological influence they learned during the class, they also considered the economic and ethical effect on it.

在IGCSE的第二年,须完成所有课程,同时,11年级的学生需要进行更具挑战性的实验。第一次模拟考临近时,学生集中精力攻克之前考试出现的问题。在第二次模拟考时,更多的考试问题得以解决。2021学年期末考试的内容,包括了两单元的试卷以及过去的测试,由此授予学生最终的成绩。

12年级的学生深入地学习化学知识。此外,他们做了许多实验,并亲眼见证实验现象。这些实验是必需的,它把概念有趣味性地呈现出来。12年级的学生有充足的课堂时间,因此,在课堂中,可以培养他们的化学思维,质疑、探索化学反应。期末成绩取决于两个单元的考试,在今年,官方考试和学校考试融为一体了。

13年级的学生面临各种实验,此外,还在进行一个内部项目,该项目有助于大学申请。课程内容进一步加深了学生的知识。今年,学生完成了考试局3单元、4单元的考试,在校内完成5单元的考试。之前的AS 1单元和2单元试卷成绩,以及A Level最后三个单元的所信息都将用于授予最终的A Level成绩。


Chemistry | Programme Summary

In the chemistry department there are tiers to succeed to an A* in year 13.

Currently the pre-IGCSE year 9 students are learning about chemistry in general with many demonstrated experiments this prepare the student for the first year of IGCSE.

During the first year of IGCSE, year 10 students are expected to learn the terminology of the subject, also students learn basic theory. Many lessons include required experiments that are performed by students and presented to them.

In year 11, the second year IGCSE. the coursework is completed, and more challenging experiments are undertaken by students. When Mock 1 approaches the students focus their attention on previous exam questions. For Mock 2 more previous exam questions are revised. For 2021 the final exams consist of two Unit papers and in addition with previous tests a final grade will be awarded.

In year 12 students do coursework that deepens their knowledge of chemistry. Furthermore, these students do many experiments, and experiments are presented to them. These experiments are required experiments as well as interesting display of concepts. These students have enough time for coursework; thus, their mind is trained to question and explore chemical reactions. Two Unit exams make up the final grade, and in 2021 it was a combination if external and internal examinations.

During year 13 students are exposed to a variety of experiments, with an additional internal project that students can use to strengthen their application for university. Coursework deepens the knowledge of students even further. During the year the students wrote Unit 3 and Unit 4 externally, and Unit 5 internally. All information from AS Unit 1 and Unit2 papers and the final three Units of A levels will be used to award a final A level grade.
