孔博士与老师们共同交流


在VPA,学生们的成长固然是重中之重,但是教师们的成长也是不可忽视的。我们的教师们在已经具备专业的学历背景以及丰富的工作经验的条件下,仍在积极提高教学水平。每周,我们都会抽出一天,在放学后,通过查阅文献、总结实践、互相交流,促进着每个人成为更好的自己、更好的教师。

上周,我们迎来了教师学习历程展,全体教学人员以小组为单位向彼此分享了上一个学期的教师学习成果。每个小组都被分配了不同的主题,从“Maker-centered Learning”到“Concept-based Learning”,从“Research Skills”到“Self-management Skills”,我们学习、对比各种教学方法,取之精髓,形成自己独特的教学模式,用来助力学生的全方位成长。

从学生的身心健康出发,

培养出健全的人格



本次教师学习历程展,我们从肖晴老师与Ms. Housworth的正念分享开始。



众所周知,VPA十分重视孩子们的心理健康、情绪管理和社交活动。除了定期的心理教育课,以及温馨的心理咨询室,VPA还设立了正念冥想练习。我们的老师经过了斯坦福正念减压课程的专业培训后,定期带领学生做正念练习,让他们学会关注当下和聆听自己的内心,放松身体、缓解情绪。




正念究竟是什么?


正念冥想是一种通过有意识地、不加评判地关注当下而产生的一种觉知。正念向我们传递了9个态度:非评价、接纳、耐心、初心、信任、不争、放下、感恩和慷慨



在这个充满变化和焦虑的世界,人们总在“内卷”和“躺平”之间挣扎,但其实“内卷”的反义词并不是“躺平”,而是学习与奋斗。我们希望我们的老师和学生都能保持平常心。积极争取,但不执拗。



 

为什么我们的孩子需要正念?


《中国学生心理健康问题的检出率及其教育启示》中提到“……我国大中小学生抑郁、焦虑、睡眠问题和自我伤害检出率偏高,其整体心理健康状况堪忧,需要引起全社会的高度警觉。”



“……被试总人数为3248179名学生。结果表明:小学生心理健康问题检出率由高到低依次是睡眠问题(25.2%)、抑郁(14.6%)、焦虑(12.3%)、攻击行为(4.1%)、退缩(3.8%)、违纪行为(3.7%)”

 


正念练习对孩子的帮助(5C)


正念练习对孩子的具体帮助体现在5个C上,Concentration(专注力), Creativity(创造性), Calm(平静), Compassion(慈悲心), 以及Clarity(明晰)



正念冥想是一个让孩子们受益终身的练习,它不光能在他们在校期间提高学习能力和效率,还能让他们在往后的纷繁世界中,找到自己的宁静。

其他教学方法和实践分享



每组老师都为本次学习历程展精心准备了展板和讲解,互相交流和分享。不同背景、不同专业、不同语言的大家聚在一起,将平日的教学经验、个人的教学方法和观念共享,互相学习、共同进步。



老师们还将自己的感想、建议和疑问,以及任何想说的话都写下来贴在了别组的板上,以助于更好的反思和进步。

教师关怀



VPA除了为教师们提供专业上的发展,每逢佳节还会用别出心裁的礼物,共同庆祝美好的日子,记录生活的点滴。



上个月的情人节,我们为每一位教职员工准备了一瓶西班牙传统酿造葡萄酒,希望大家能在这个浪漫的日子,品味红酒的同时,与相爱的人品味人生



这个月迎来了妇女节,我们为大家准备了产自黑龙江环境保护区湿地公园,产量少,纯绿色环保无添加粒粒香浓的珍珠大米作为礼物,用最实际的方式关怀每一位员工,表达出绵绵的情意。


教育是精神上的“大米”,教师,便是精心烹饪它们的“大厨”,关怀和培养更优秀的“大厨”才能给孩子们提供最优质的精神食粮。

At VPA, we care about students' development as well as teachers' development. Our teachers are still actively improving their teaching skills under the condition that they already have professional education background and rich working experience. Every week, we set aside one day after school to promote everyone to become a better self and a better teacher.

Last week, we had our Teacher Learning Journey Workshop. All the teachers shared their learning results in groups. Different topics were assigned to different groups, from "Maker-centered Learning" to "Concept-based Learning," from "Research Skills" to "Self-management Skills," we learn and compare different teaching methods, absorb all the essence and form our unique ways of teaching to support our students.

Starting from wellness, 

to cultivating good characters



In this workshop, we started with the presentation on mindfulness by Ms. Housworth and Ms. Xiao.



As we all know, VPA truly cares about children's mental health and social/emotional development. Besides the regular wellness class and our counseling hub, we also have mindfulness practice. Our teachers, who have professional qualifications from Stanford University, guide students to relax and release their pressures.


What is Mindfulness?


Mindfulness is the awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally. There are 9 attitudes: non-judging, acceptance, patience, beginner's mind, trust, non-striving, letting go, gratitude, and generosity.

In this world with full of changes and anxiety, people always struggle between "involution" and "lying flat," but in fact, the opposite of "involution" is not "lying flat", but learning and working. We wish our teachers and students can remain calm. Try our best, but not being stubborn.



Why is mindfulness so important?


Researches show that “……There are high rates of depression, anxiety, sleep problems and self-harm among Chinese students, and their overall mental health is worrying, which needs to arouse high vigilance by the whole society."


“……the major problems are sleeping problem(25.2%), depression(14.6%), anxiety(12.3%), aggressive behaviors(4.1%), withdrawal(3.8%), and disciplinary behaviors(3.7%).”


Benefits from mindfulness(5C)


Mindfulness benefits children's Concentration, Creativity, Calm, Compassion, and Clarity.



Mindfulness meditation is a lifelong practice that helps children not only improve their learning and productivity at school, but also help them find peace in the chaotic world in the future.

Sharings on other things



Each group of teachers prepared carefully for the exhibition to share with each other. Teachers with different backgrounds, majors and languages get together to share their daily teaching experience, personal teaching methods and philosophies.



They wrote down their thoughts, suggestions, questions, or anything and sticked on the boards to help others reflect and improve.

Caring for our teachers



Besides the professional development, we also have gifts for everyone during festivals to celebrate and remember the important days. 



On Valentine's Day, we prepared a bottle of traditional Spanish wine for each faculty member. We hope that they can taste the wine and taste the life with their loved ones on this romantic day.


This month we had the Women's Day, and we prepared the pearl rice from Heilongjiang Environmental Protection Area Wetland Park, with a small yield, pure green environmental protection, and no added grain fragrance as a gift, to express our love and care.


Education is the "rice" of spirit, and teachers are the "chefs" who cook it carefully. Only by caring and training the "chefs" to be excellent can provide the best “spiritual food” for children.
